I have a different view.  i can't imagine talking to a therapist.  I talk to people about my depression all ofthe time.. I journal a lot and I feel generally very very in touch with myself

I really want to try medication.. but I don't know how to SAY that I'm depressed to a regular doctor.. like at a physical? just say, hi i'm sad all the time

Yes.. always at least 1200 for women.. and based on your info your body will require more than that.  And nine days isn't a big deal.. getting frustrated over pauses in WL is what makes people give up and go back to fad diets.  Congrats and hang in there!!!

Foods mayonnaise vs olive oil...mayo the winner? Jul 06 2008
16:08 (UTC)

mayo has that more airy consistency.. i think that's what makes the difference in calories.. its just less dense by volume (TBSP)

look at the ingredients on mayo and decide for yourself.. good brands use just a few ingredients

Fitness Muscle-building advice needed Jul 03 2008

I am a professional modern dancer.  I've jsut begun to work out my arms (which is beginning to even out my musular lower body as well).  I totally agree about using your whole body weight.

you must have learned about this through yoga and pilates.  use your dancer intuition and just do all of the exercises that make your arms burn.  dancers' resistance are our own weights.

Let me be cliche for a moment and say "If I can do it, anybody can"  Seriously.

I aim for 1500 cals a day.  The thing is.. I don't stress about it and I definitely don't deprive myself.  Sometimes I only have 1200 and sometimes I get up to 2000 on special occasions (which is still a defecit anyway!)

I've gone to the gym about 5 days/week.  An hour of cardio each time and some weight machines for the arms at the end.  The hour of cardio doesn't have to be crazy-high intensity.. just keeping your heart rate up at target.

I have realized that it is UNNATURAL for us to be able to resist food. We are programmed to survive.  We happen to live in a society where food is of abundance.  I don't buy this stuff in abundance anymore, and I dont beat myself up for not being able to resist it, because it's our most basic instincts to want it.

We're learning to cope with our world, though.  Congrats everybody!

PS the other day i bought one of those tiny lindt chocolate truffles and i threw 1/3 of it away because after all of this healthy eating .. it was TOO SWEET.. that was a great moment!!! i used to have many of those in one sitting.

wow.. that is incredible.  i agree that the parents should have saught medical help 6 years ago.

it must be hard to be in the position to not be able to nourish your own child when she asks.. the most basic instinct for a parent..  but no excuse to not have seen a doctor.

i agree with grenflowers that there is probably a little bit of self-recognition for them going on.. knowing that they too need to lose weight and you admitting it about yourself is like you admitting the problem about the whole family..

congrats on fighting through this.. you'll do it!
