The Lounge Coolest name you've ever heard? Jan 29 2009

Original Post by stephb1969:

I was in junior high with a girl named April Flowers. My daughter has a friend named Arynn (pronounced AIR-in), she has another friend named Jaris (pronounced Jair-iss). I've always liked the name Jada. My daughter's name is Alexis which has become common but is strong meaning helper of mankind.

MY name is Jada! I hated my mom as a kid for not naming me something normal (I was almost named Lauren Ashley before she decided on Jada Diane) but now that I'm an adult, I love it, and I actually get a little territorial about it, lol.

My daughter's name is Bianca. I just love it to pieces :)

My nephew's name is Tyge. (Pronounced like tiger without the "er") It's a family name.

My cousin just named her baby girl Myla.

i'm not devastated or anything. just a little disappointed. you are right, he could be a real tool and things could be worse. my point was that she has always been so strong and stubborn and unwilling to change for anyone. but this time, it feels different. and i'm worried that she's doing it for the wrong reasons. she was so passionate about it in the beginning. maybe you're right, maybe it was just a fad and she just got bored with it... who knows... i wonder what she's gonna do with all the peta crap she bought. lol. i don't want it.

also, for the record, when i posted this yesterday, i was still upset because she was acting so defensive about it, when all i did was ask her some questions about why she changed her mind when she felt so strongly about it before. i've calmed down now, and it's not so bad. we're supposed to go out for dinner and drinks on saturday night, just us girls. hopefully she won't be on the defense anymore by then..

thanks for the replies

Bob!

He seems more sympathetic. He would listen to me whine for a while and then gently convince me to get going. Jillian has more of a shut up and do it attitude. I would resent that.

after last night's episode, i wouldn't be too sure haahaha! bob lost his ****!!!! it was kinda scary. jillian was cracking up. cuz he totally sounded like her. LOL.

The Lounge Christmas Traditions Dec 23 2008

We didn't really have anything special, as far as traditions. I'd call it "routine". Christmas Eve, we would be allowed to open one gift, of our parents choosing. Then on Christmas morning, my baby brother and I would get up and go downstairs. My parents were usually sipping coffee and smoking. If we got up too early, they would make us sit and wait, usually till about 8am, before letting us start opening our gifts. Dad would take the stockings down first, which always contained candy, a ginormous candy cane, something small and thoughtful, and lottery tickets. Then my mom would hand out our gifts one by one, and we would open them one at a time, so everyone could see what we got. After opening gifts, we would have breakfast, usually something hearty like sausage biscuits and gravy. It's a family favorite. Then we would get cleaned up and go get my step sisters from their mom's house. I was always jealous because they got 2 Christmases. They were always jealous because my brother and I got more stuff than them. (But they always failed to understand that with the 2 houses combined, they still got more than my brother and I). They would open their gifts the same way as we would. In the afternoon, we would go get my grandpa, and he would open his gifts, and we would open the ones he got us. Then we would have dinner, usually a ham.

Things have changed a little bit. My parents live far away, in a tiny house. And I have a daughter (who I have to share with my ex husband) So we are having a new tradition this year. Christmas Eve, I will pick my daughter up from her dad's house. We will make sugar cookies and decorate them with icing and sprinkles, and leave them out for Santa. She will be allowed to open 1 gift. We will drink hot chocolate and read "'Twas the night before Christmas" before bedtime. In the morning, she will open her gifts from "Santa". Then I am making a huge breakfast of sausage biscuits and gravy (a vegetarian version for me), scrambled eggs with cheese, cinnamon rolls, and english muffins with jam. Then my parents, siblings, and nephew will come over. We will have breakfast. Then we'll open the rest of our gifts. Then we will kick them out and head out to my bf's family Christmas.

I said then a lot.

Then.

The end.

My boobs were not perky as a 127 lb 18 year old, so as a 180 lb 28 year old with a kid, they are even worse. I would love to have a lift. My pregnancy also destroyed my stomach. My daughter is almost 5 years old and I still have a huge stomach with a flap at the bottom. Yes, I'm not talking about a muffin top, I'm talking about standing there naked, I have a flap of fat skin that hangs down. Or my panties will roll down under it, and that looks REALLY attractive, let me tell ya. Tummy tuck would really make me happy. Not liposuction, because I would like to be able to feel good, that I lost the weight myself, but that skin is done for. It has no elesticity and I have no ab muscles. It's sad... Cry

All my tattoos were well planned but I got them because I like tattoos.

I would think that many people who stupidly went and picked out a piece of pointless flash from the wall of a tattoo shop eventually regret getting something so silly and meaningless permanently inked onto their body.  Just a guess though.

I think we need a tattoo thread where we can share pictures of our work.

EDIT: I added mine to my gallery.  Ah damn, now I'm planning the next one.  Gotta get my back finished someday.Yell

^^^ guilty as charged!! when i turned 18, i got a tattoo. tribal on the lower back. because i was old enough. and i could. i don't like it anymore. i mean, there's nothing wrong with it. it just needs some personalization. but for the most part, i wish it wasn't there.

i got my 2nd one earlier this year. stars on my shoulder. i like it. it was a long complicated expensive situation so my daughter's name never got incoorporated into the design.  :(

i'm sorry that your husband is down & out during a time when you physically need his help the most. i'm sure that's stressing you both out. poor guy. however, i agree that you should talk to another male relative/friend to see if they can help you out with the heavy lifting. i know you don't want to hurt your hubby's feelings, but i'm sure you know from experience that having an infant around doesn't leave much time for cleaning, or doing much of anything. especially since you'll be waking up at all hours of the night to feed, change, comfort, etc. so during the day when the baby is sleeping, you're going to be so tired. add a 3 year old to that, and the new baby's room might never get done. i don't think it's anything to panic about, and like the others said (and your hubby said) you'll have the baby in your room for the first few months, but it will be a much easier transition for you if you don't have to worry about the baby's room not being set up, and trying to make time to get it done once he/she is already there.

good luck and congratulations!

i don't know why, but after reading all of those, somehow moonikins story actually made me laugh out loud, for real. good stuff.

when i first moved out on my own (at 19) my friends and i were in my new place drinking frozen margaritas. well, we ran out of mix so i started drinking the tequila straight out of the bottle. needless to say, i wound up puking, in a metal pot, on my bedroom floor, and in between every heave, i would also pass gas, loudly. i couldn't control it, lol. i still get picked on for it to this very day. Haha..At least it didn't go to waste! Lmao.

Hehe My mom did the same thing! From the time I moved out on my own (2000) until about 2 years ago, every single year my mom would wrap up a 12 pack of toilet paper and put it under the tree for me! The "inside joke" of that though, was that when I still lived at home it was my job to clean up the kitchen every night after dinner, and somehow I always managed to "have to poop" and I'd stay in the bathroom for about 30 mins before finally cleaning the kitchen, lol.

Heh. I used to eat the Arby's 5 for $5.55 all the time before I went vegetarian. Except instead of 5 Arby's Melts, I would eat 2 Arby's Melts, 1 Onion Petals, 1 Cheesesticks, and 1 Cappuccino shake :)  Yum. And then I gained 40 lbs in 2 years. Shocking! Lol.

Original Post by silentdeadlyrose:

It was when I was sick of binge eating everyday and feeling the guilt and disgust of myself. Feeling bloated, swollen and just plain icky.

The fact that none of my old clothes fit. The fact that people who saw me so thin at one time were noticing the massive weight gain. The fact that I no longer felt self worth or even attractive and would dress accordingly.

When I finally saw a picture of me in my new weight and was mortified and could not believe that girl was *me.*

The fact I wanted to be healthy again and feel proud of myself. Keeping on with that path I knew I never would.

That says it right there. When I was *normal*, I would at least try to wear cute clothes, (HEELS! Heeee!!) wear makeup, fix my hair, etc. But now that I've been this size for so long I just sort of gave up. I wear comfy tshirts and tennis shoes instead of the 15 pairs of sexy heels I have organized neatly in my closet. I only wear makeup and straighten my hair when it's a special occasion. It sucks. I miss feeling normal and happy.

I hit my all time high this summer. 201. On a 5'3" body, that was a bit much to handle. I'm down 16 lbs with another 44 to go. I feel so much better and happier knowing that if I can make it 16 lbs, I can make it 60. Yay me.  :)

I didn't realize they go home for 3 months. Dang, that's a long time. I thought it was only a few weeks. I voted for Ed to stay, because I figured Heba has lost a higher % than Ed so she has a better chance to win. But now that you guys are saying 3 months, hmmmm... Ed could come back and take it all. I certainly hope NOT!!! Especially since I voted for him 4 times (I have 2 cell phones, I used my bf's cell, and my desk phone at work, lol).

Also, I can't believe no one has commented on how Bob straight called Ed out for water logging himself so that Heba had a better chance of staying above the yellow line.

Vicky is so nasty!!! I still can't believe she said she hasn't learned anything. Dude, you are on tv. Lie. Make something up. Don't just flat out admit that you have learned absolutely nothing.

1. Continue along my weightloss journey and reach my goal of 140 lbs by June 1st.

2. Drop this awful smoking habit. I smoked for 13 years, and I quit for 2. Just started again a couple of months ago and I hate it, but I'm addicted again.

3. Start getting up earlier and make it part of my routine to actually wake up at least 1 hour before I need to leave for work.

LOL!!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'm just going to take the first weight it gives me. And stop freaking out about how accurate it is. Like rjs243 said, the margin of error is probably only about .5 lbs either way, so that's nothing to worry about.

Thanks again all!

Thanks for the responses.

I do weigh every day but I have learned not to get upset at fluctuations, unless it goes up and stays up for more than 3 days. Then I get a little crabby, lol.

My main concern was the scale giving me 3 different readings this morning. I actually do usually do what gi-jane says and only weigh once, but my hubby is the one that pointed out the flaw so I tested it out this morning. It was aggravating, but from now on I'm just going to only step on it once. I should've been excited because I lost 3.5 lbs this week, but instead I was upset because of the scale. I'm going to put this whole scale fiasco behind me and celebrate a 3.5 lb loss, because that's a huge amount of weight. (And well deserved! I was working hard and not seeing results for a while, so I needed to see that loss!)

Thanks again.

Original Post by hkellick:

Well, I agree parents have responsibility to be active with their kids, when they have time, but let's acknowledge that, by and large, kids have more free time than adults (whether the adults both work jobs or one stays at home or there's only one adult to begin with).

I agree with this. It's really cold outside where we are and there are only so many board games, flashcards, and exercise you can do in the house with them. Plus, housework needs to be done. I am purchasing a V-Motion for my 4 year old for Christmas and I don't feel bad about it. I would rather she play a game that requires hand eye coordination and keeps her active than plop her in front of the TV while I am doing dishes and laundry, and everything else I don't have much time to do.

(Not being rude, it's just that NOT ALL parents are sloths just because they let their kid play a video game.)  Laughing

i think amy's decision was not a smart one. no matter what she does, vicky will always hold a grudge, and if amy falls below the yellow line, even if it with michelle or renee, i truly think she's gone, because vicky is a vengeful, horrible troll b*tch, and that's just how it is. that's just my opinion..

i'm pissed that coleen went home. she is my favorite (along with amy p & phil) i don't think it's right that people who don't deserve to be there are still there.

the winner of the biggest loser should be a role model, and they will represent the show. what kind of role models would those heifers vicky and heba be???

i was so ANGRY last night. i might not watch the rest of this season. the blue team has pretty much ruined it for me.

amy is a freakin idiot if she thinks that what she did last night was a good move. like everyone above has said: amy screwed it up with the blue team when she voted off brady. no amount of apologies or ass kissing is going to keep vicky from voting her off. all she had to do was send vicky home and she would've had a better shot at making it to the final. sure, heba would'v acted like the spoiled, selfish, bossy little heifer she is, but so what? now she has to continue to deal with heba AND vicky, and has a huge risk of being sent home if she ever falls below the yellow line. she dug her own grave.

all i can say is, if michelle or renee gets sent home next week, i'm done watching this season. i can't believe the producers have let the show morph into such a negative thing. it used to be such an inspirational show, but now it just makes me sick to watch, and to know that some heartless hag is probably going to win the money, and be known as a "role model".

*sigh*
