Welcome!

That is the number of calories you are burning just being alive.  Then when you add in an activty the total number goes up.  Just remember it does not go up the entire amount of the activity as it has to adjust for amount of time you are using.  Basically saying you receive your just being alive credit for the minutes you workout.

Good luck and enjoy the site!

If you like to add a little spice to your pork try this out.

From a friend on this site I learned to rub my pork with a wasabi paste that I pick up in the ethnic aisle at the grocery store.  It comes in a green box.   Some times I mix the paste with sesame sauce and coat the pork all over.

Sear the roast in a pan on the stove top.  Be sure the pan is screaming hot before you add the roast.  Be sure to sear the entire roast.  Then bake the roast in the over.  I like to do a slow roast.  At first I put the seared roast in a 450 degree over for 10 minutes, then turn the over down to 300 degrees.  Roast is done when the meat thermometer says so.  A four pound roast is about 4 hours.

Safe bets:
Home Style Soup 155 calories
Garden Fresco Salad (dressing on side)  235 calories (hold cheese - 110 calories)
Grilled Chicken Sandwich (do not add the mayo side)  374 calories

You could have a sandwich and salad (less cheese) for 499 calories.

Their website is really cool, click on an item and then select nutritional information.

Enjoy lunch!

Weight Loss Why aren't I losing?! Oct 22 2008
17:11 (UTC)

As odd it always sounds make sure you are eating enough calories to allow your body to drop the weight.  You had your baby about a month ago so your body is still going through a lot of changes.  It needs the fuel for breast feeding (if you are).  If you are not breast feeding your body is still trying to regulate the changes.

I realize your goal is by Christmas but that may be too soon for you right now.  It will happen.  Do not get too frustrated.  Give your body time to recover from the nine months of work it did.

What a beautiful baby!  I really like his name too.

Pregnancy & Parenting tubal ligation pros/cons Oct 16 2008

I had a tubal about 19 years ago after my second child was born.  The doctor performed the procedure through my belly button, there is not a single scar to be seen.  It was done on an outpatient basis.  I was back at work in three days.  No big deal at all.  I have never had a complication from it.  To me it was the best thing I have ever done for myself.

Here is my take on it.  If you never want to have another child again this is the only way to ensure it.  What if for some reason you and your husband part ways.  Your security of not becoming pregnant is now gone with him.

I wish you luck in your decision.  I know it is a hard and personal one.

If you go to the companies website they have this posted under Nutrition:

Vegetables, mayonnaise, mustard, cheese and ThunderSauce are left off unless specifically noted or are part of a recipe.

I would now say with certainty that it does not have the calories listed for the mayo, cheese or even the veggies.

Because your select read "Low Fat Pick" I would believe it does not have mayo or cheese on it.

Thought abuot you this weekend when my husband I were discussing a child abduction that had happened in our area years back (David Westerfieled / Danielle van Dam).   I went over your story with my husband.  We both just can not believe it has been so long without a word.

Our thoughts are with you.  I hope you are right and you find some news soon.

I just wanted to say I visited the newly done website, all I can say is WOW!  I followed the link to myspace and am in awe of the person who wrote the blog "What if".  It truly makes you think.  It is awful that things are the way they are.  The blog says it all.  I also played the Youtube videos.   Your husband was able to speak so well, I know there is no way I could have made it through that.  To hear him say his last moments with Chris I was in tears listening.

My heart is with your family.  I so wish Chris to be found!

Hi fellow San Diego resident!

I think you handled yourself wonderfully.  It would take most of an army to hold us down not to say something.  She was rude and that is hers to live with.

You are doing really well with your efforts do not let some spiteful old person derail you.  Stay focused on your goals and you will make it!

Right now you need to do what is best for your body.  If you are hungry than eat.  Don't let the comments of a rude person upset you.  She obviously has no clue.

Foods Camping Substitute Suggestions Jul 30 2008

Camping is great time to make kabobs.  You can premake chicken, fish and veggies ones before you go.  Put a healthy marinate on the chicken and fish before cooking (night before in ziploc baggies).

If you are craving hot dogs for lunch use turkey dogs with whole wheat buns.

Fresh fruit with individual dip containers (chocolate, caramel or peanut butter).

When I heard about this company last week it was a sale because they were bought out by Nordstroms.  If you go to Nordstroms site they tell you they are not affliated with ELF  http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=2 11996&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1167023&a mp;highlight=

Now if you do wish to order anyway I was told about a 25% code you can enter.  The code is ECTUTAY   It was working last Friday when my SIL ordered.

Foods CHicken POt-Pie The DEVIL!!!!!!!! ???? May 23 2008

I make chicken pot pies for my family all the time.  I start with basic ingredients for hubby and then add veggies for my daughter and I.

To make the gravy I use chicken broth that was first used to boil sweet potatoes.  This way all the nutrition from the potatoes stays with the broth.  I remove the potatoes and sit aside.  I pan saute lean chicken breasts on the stove top, when done sit aside with potatoes. I then use the same pan I sauteed the chicken to mix in wheat flour with the chicken broth until the gravy is just thick enough (not too thick, not too runny).  Cut up the chicken and potatoes and mix with some of the gravy.  Now in individual pot pie pans I add the ingredients each person likes.  Hubby gets just gravy, potatoes and chicken.  My daughter and I add sliced mushroom, peas, carrots and fresh chopped rosemary.  You can add more gravy depending on how much you like.  We also add non-fat cheddar cheese sometimes.  For the girls I only put on a top crust, hubby gets crust all around.  I use the ready made pie crusts for the tops.

As I am making individual ones and want to know which one belongs to who I cut each person first initial into the crust top.

I always make extra as my daughter and I love to have them the next day too.

Have fun with it.  Homemade is always so much better tasting.  I love the addition of rosemary in mine.  Can't find that anywhere else.  Daughter loves to add hot sauce to hers.  You can do so much!

The Lounge Have you done Vegas? May 19 2008

Vegas is my friend.  I tend to be in Vegas 3 - 5 times a year depending on what is going on.  We stay at New York New York, really nice rooms and not too bad depending on what is going on.  NY NY has a dueling piano bar for nightly entertainment, sit outside to listen and its free.  There is a Coyote Ugly bar upstairs from NY NY too, I have never been inside.   For food at NY NY  - Nine Fine Irishmen.  Their menu is to die for.

You will do a lot of walking no matter where you stay because you are going to want to take it all in.

The strip at night has some great shows, you can see the water show at the Bellagio, the Sirens of the Night show at Treasure Island (TI), people watch galore.  There are a lot of shops you can pop into when you get too heated walking outside.  All this is free!

Caesers is wonderful, we have stayed there but I prefer the laid back feel of NY NY.  Circus Circus has inexpensive rooms as well.

Personally I will never step foot on Freemont Street again.  We used to stay at Gold Coast all the time, hubby loved it.  But over the years Freemont Street is too dirty, smelly (gas mask please) and seedy all around.  I can walk the strip and feel relatively safe.  I can not say the same for Freemont Street.  If you are going alone please avoid.  The light show at night is cool but not worth something happening to you.  Again my personal feeling.

You will have a great time that is for sure!

The Lounge how to prepare for spouse's deployment? May 14 2008

Looks like you have a great handle on it.

It is difficult handling all of this with children.  Our experience was Navy submaries during a time when while away there was zero contact for months on end.  My daughters would help prepare by making letters or pictures to pack in with Dad's clothes.  Small things as space was limited, but as he unpacked he would find things to remind him of home.  Remember as tough as this is on us it is just tougher on them.  We still have the comfort of home to return to every day.

With summer coming you will want to make sure the kids have fun activies planned to keep them busy.  The they have to do the faster the time goes by for all of you.

I wish you and yours well!

The Lounge curly or straight? Apr 27 2008

I have curly hair, always have.  I wanted straight hair when I was younger.  My daughters loaned me their straightner so I could go straight.  I look so different.  I liked it, but curly is so much easy to go with.  When I go t have my hair cut the hairdressers always commnet how wonderful my curls are.  Most females pay to have the curls I do.  I am learning to love my curls as I am learning to tame them.

The Lounge Does anyone else have ADHD teenagers?? Mar 17 2008

My eldest daughter was diagnosed ADHD, however I have never truly believed the diagnosis.  In her case we have found the need to reduce sugar intake (such as soda).  This has helped in a number of ways with her.  The other method I have used with her is to hold her accountable for her actions.  To do this we have discussions for what she wants to do and then discuss the outcome for such action.  In a way it is teaching her to think before she acts.

My daughter is now 22 and realizes that in order to feel normal (her words) she needs to work two jobs.  One is full time and one is part time.  She says this keeps her so busy she can not lose focus on what is going on.  When she is not busy she has a hard time and gets into too much mischief.

I don't know if this helps you but it gives you an insight into another's ability to learn to control what feels uncontrollable to them.

Take care!

I really hope these last two days are a sign of what is to come.

I am so glad Peoples Court is sending the tape.  If it is him them whatever case is being heard may be of interest to him (friends or such).  That would be such a great lead.
