Motivation Any one have other addiction problems that food has taken the place of? Jul 12 2008

i used to drink and smoke ciggs but I've quit both and food does replace the bad habits but eventually you begin to find a balance but  what your doing is absolutely the healthiest thing you can do for yourself. I ate a quart of belg dark choc ice cream when i first quit drinking (a week.) I don't do that anymore. I would join a gym and find more hobbies because food is another addiction for me so I have to treat it the same.

Weight Loss how many grams of natural sugar is too much to lose weight? Jun 12 2008
02:57 (UTC)

yeah me to I eat lots of fruit and get my sweet fix through it and I'm still losing. I guess i'm just impatient and want results faster. I just only really started fully working this for two weeks prior to that I was working out 1/2 as much at a lower intensity and less willpower. The fact that my belly is still the same makes me wonder if the fruit caused the fat to hang around that area.

i used to drink a cafe mocha then changed it to a fat free white choc mocha with added  raspberry flavor! Yum. I found the skim milk tastes just as good as the regular milk. i had to detox off starbucks.(not really but the extra calories and sugars kept messing up my diet and my spending cash.) Have you ever broken down the amount you spend a month. I now see it as a bad habit. I avoid it but was once an avid starbucks fan (that I never thought would change.)

Weight Loss please respond! why do my first few pounds off have to come from my breasts? Jun 10 2008

yeah that's what I meant but I've always had a belly but never the gain in the hips. Is that an age thing? Do our hips get wider? The reason I blame it on smoking is because  over a year ago when I smoked I never gained in my hips and even prior to that. The weight is just showing up differently. I wondered could it be the foods I eat as well?

I had my calories already today and have not had dinner yet. When I do this I eat a very light dinner. Such as  egg whites with amy's organic spaghetti sauce and spinach or light mixed green salad. Protein and veggies low in carbs.

I eat more if I don't sleep especially sugars. I think I've read when you don't get sleep your body is not able to restore itself which burns more calories. I've noticed on nights that I do sleep better my weight goes down more but I'm eating less if I sleep better.  Yoga fore relaxation can help you sleep. I would find some time to do it. it makes a big difference. You will learn how to breath and let go.

there are pre and probiotics i'm pretty sure you need both. I think a banana is a prebiotic and probiotics are in yogurt. I take in what I can but still have digestion issues. I eat fiber as much as I can but still have issues. I found a company called xymogen they have an opti cleanse GHI formula that helps and it's filled with protein and vitamins. They also have a product called iGg2000 that helps.

whatever yoga and pilates does works to emphasize the beauty of the female form. It helps your posture and de-stresses your life. It should be added to anyone's routine for overall balance. Laughing

Fage 0% is soooo good with Agave Nectar 2 teaspoons which is a sweetner in Florida and has a lower glycemic index than honey or maple syrup. Then I add fresh blueberries, raspberries and cut strawberries into slices and mix it all together. (you could add real vanilla extract as well) Apple cinn and raisin w/ vanilla would be good too! I also add vegan vanilla rice protein for extra protein if I'm strength training.

he has to  hurt bad enough to want to help himself. Don't be an enabler. Make sure you don't have co-dependance issues and refer him to AA. Go to al-anon.

Any time you try to fast it sets up a binge. I don't do it anymore. It's like Yin and yang. opposite reactions that balance each other. I think it's a way to fill yourself up to avoid some inner issue that needs to be resolved. It's like an alcoholic that drinks too much and can't stop. There is inner work and I mean "work" that you need to do. Food doesn't solve problems it makes more when you do this plus the guilt. Similar to alcoholism but with food.  I've been there and I'm sorry but you can always start your day over.  Make a new begining today from this point on. Change your focus to helping someone else. Volunteer and get busy! The best thing to do is get out of yourself and find things to be greatful for.        &nb sp;

I was at the green earth expo and there's a line of cookware designed to cook foods that does not require any water or oils and the food tastes great. I believe it's called Waterless cookware but it's pricey. The food tastes great. I've read that coconut oil is better for you when heated and that olive oil is not so good when it's heated at higher temps. There are calories and fats in both.

I was told to go as sedentary on my profile and if at work I'm at a desk most of the day then when I go home I work out add the activites later. Add activites individually in the burn meter. There are tons of sites that you can use to put your exercise in and it will calculate the calories.

If you're into indie music or other things I have a few songs that keep me going.  They are all really different styles. I start my ipod off with "Reckoner" by radiohead for my warm up,  The remake of "it's not over Yet" by the Klaxons, Then "Atlas" by Battles this is really different but the beats keep me going on the eliptical (it's almost cartoon like but great beats) The Knife "Marble House" (rex the dog remix off the EP), "Like a Pen" by the Knife this song is amazing if you give it time the sounds so unusual and upbeat, "I like the Way" by Bodyrockers, "An honest mistake" by Bravery, "Your a Woman I'm a machine" by Death From Above 1979 this is more rock fast guitar they also have a song called "Sexy Results" that reminds me why I want to look good, The Electric Soft Parade "if that's the Case,Then I don't know" this song is catchy,  "Into your Dream" by Foreign Born, great song, "Over and Over" by Hot Chip, "Four kicks" by Kings of Leon (i love this), "Combat Baby"by Metric, "We Carry On" By Portishead, "Great DJ" by the ting tings, "Wolf Like Me" by TV on the Radio, "One week of danger" by The Virgins, Yeti by Caribou (this may be a little to different but I like the way it works my rhythms) Hope that helps. Also this song "Mimic the hurricano off of Liars Ep"  A good cooldown is "Running Up that hill remake by the chromatics" let me know if you like any of this!

I like to mix 1/4 cup organic egg whites 25 calories with some of Amy's spaghetti sauce 1/2 cup (45 calories) in the microwave. Then I have a large organic mixed green salad with blueberries (20 cals) and strawberries (30)  not too many and put one serving of Anne's raspberry ving. dressing (35) calories. Still under 200 calories. I find that eating a light dinner gets quick results. Your body gets used to it ( just like some people get used to skipping breakfast )

I found the "better than peanut butter" to be just as addictive. I don't buy it anymore because I found myself adding jelly and raisons and eating it by the tablespoon. I had a hard time stopping. For me it's one of those foods I stay away from as often as I can. I usually by a Greens+ peanut butter chocolate protien bar and get my fix that way.        ;

the little bit of time you will have to enjoy that treat is so short lived. The workout you would have to do to burn it is a million times harder than resisting. It will pass. The more you pass on it the easier it gets. I think you will feel much better doing the right thing. Also check how much sugars and carbs are in dried cranberries. I used to eat dried fruit all the time but it's loaded with calories! sugars and carbs. And don't forget in the white chocolate is lots of sugar which makes you tired and zaps your energy to workout later. Also sugar causes wrinkles!

I'm confused about this as well. Let's say my goal is 1300 calories and I'm already listed as "light activity."  I do the eliptical for an hour and burn 500 calories at high intensity but I ate 1450 calories where does that put me in for real?

Take it one day at a time. Make yourself a small easy daily goal like: Today I will walk for 20 minutes and tomorrow add another 5. After taking a walk notice how you feel when you get back and write it down. Keep a log of what you do. Another thing is that you can't worry about what other people think. Most people that look great at the gym probably have had their own issues with weight and body image. Most people are into theirselves anyway to be worried about what everone else is doing.  Losing weight takes tons of work and when your in enough pain you'll find a way to deal with the changes in routine you have to make. Working out also gives you a natural high and that helps with sleep, weight loss and depression. Once you start working out you'll realize how hard it is to burn calories and you'll think twice about what you eat. That's just how it's working for me.    And one more thing once you start it gets easier and much better than what you will put yourself through mentally because you not doing it.  Where do you think Nike got the quote "Just do it"
