I've been using a belt to hold my pants up. But they sure are baggy. I've lost 25 lbs and still have about 20 lbs still to go. I know I can't wear some of my pants for much longer. Though I get a lot of comments from people noticing my weight loss. :D I went to Target and bought some exercise pants and I wear them a lot. lol I don't work, so it doesn't really matter that I wear them several days a week. I also had a girlfriend give me some jeans that she couldn't wear anymore. And I saved one smaller sized pair of black pants. So I have three pairs that fit for now :) |

Start weight on CC (June 1, 2008) 181.2 GOAL: 139 lbs (30 lbs would be 134.6)
Total Weight Loss: 12.6 lbs! Slowly but surly I'm still loosing :) I've been so screwed up in my daily schedule. I've been a bad girl by not planning ahead and making a lunch for myself and logging my calorie intake. But on the flip side I have been walking a lot and going to aerobic classes :D So I'm not doing too bad. It's just that things have slowed down a bit. I'm really proud of my self as I have lost 29.2 lbs total so far since I joined CC. I'm now 12.6 lbs from my absolute final goal (lol which is the total amount I've lost in this challenge so far..humm coincidence?). I need to loose 2 lbs per week to make the 30 lb goal. I know this is a long challenge and I hope those of you that are loosing momentum, just get back into it. You know what you need to do. JUST DO IT!! Sorry for shouting, but we all want to be losers here. hehehe I agree with deloughy don't make excuses! You've worked so hard to lose this weight. Don't give up!!! If you're bored or depressed get up and do something that removes you from that funk. Don't turn to food or the TV. Go outside, or jump in the car and drive to the gym, or jump on the treadmill. Call a friend and walk together. Only 7 more weigh-ins folks. You can do this! :D Try as hard as you can to make that 30 lbs or just do your personal best. |

Name: Betsaroonie Sorry for posting late. It's been a long week. But the good news is I did lose this week :) Yeah! I haven't been able to log anything this whole week, but things should be back to normal tomorrow. This has been my worst month in my weight loss quest. Though I haven't gained any weight. I've been mostly eating maintenance. Thanks for the challenge! Now what do I do with all this Halloween candy? We didn't get one trick-or-treater tonight :( I guess I'll send it to my DH's work. Somebody will eat it.

I'm using a belt to keep them up! lol I don't want to spend the money on clothes now as I'll just have to buy more late. I'm waiting until I reach my goal. :D Hey nice job on the weight loss this week. What did you do different? |

Name: Betsaroonie ""Sigh"" Well no change from last week, but at least I'm holding and not gaining. I was in a funk the last 3 weeks, but just a couple of days ago I was able to get myself motivated again. Hasn't been enough time to see the results of my efforts yet. I hope next week will have a positive (oops I mean negative) effect! Good luck everyone. |

If you have a playstation, try DDR (Dance dance revolution) or go to the arcades that have it. OMG it is so much fun and a great workout. It's more fun to do with friends :) I've also put on headphones and run up and down stairs. My dog runs with me and gets so excited she starts barking like crazy. It is a great cardio workout. As for the kitchen, I try to heat up some water and have a nice hot cup of joe or tea. I'm also chew gum to satisfy my sweet tooth. I agree with laura42 on going outside for a walk. Set a goal like walking 4 miles a day and stick to it. I joined a challenge here on CC to walk 4 miles a day, and I was very motivated, cause I had about 7 others that were working on the same challenge. We all supported each other and cheered each other on. Whatever you do make sure you are having fun, and mix it up a bit so you're not doing the same thing everyday. |

Hi Jason, I'm not an expert by any means, but caught my attention was your comment about huge mood swings. Have any members of your family had these same mood swings? My concern would be is if you are trying to sabotage yourself with destructive behavior. Binge and purge practices indicate an eating disorder. Along with the mood swings this may be reason for you to seek a doctor for help. Your history of smoking weed, was it to cope with problems, and a means to escape from the world? I'd listen to those who suggested you see a psychologist. Seeking help when you aren't sure about things in your life is good sound advise. A professional can help put things in perspective. If you're still in school, you can take advantage of the school psychologist to help you. Many people seek a doctor's care when they are struggling with things. You've taken the first step by asking for help on this site. Good luck
I hope this helps. |

I take thyroid meds too, but I take it just before bed at night. You're supposed to take it on an empty stomach. Maybe switch when you take them. It could be that you don't eat enough in the morning and that could make you feel queezy. You wouldn't have to eat much. Yogurt would be a good choice as it has natural enzymes for your stomach. Ginger also calms the stomach. Ginger tea or candied ginger would be good. I too think that looking out the window would help. Try these things and see if it helps. Good luck. |

I wasn't able to weigh myself until this morning, but for not giving much effort this week, I still lost 2.2 lbs! Go figure? Up until this last couple of weeks, I've been very driven on my weight loss. My goal has been to get healthy. Weight loss has been the reward for my new lifestyle. I had been in a funk for 2 weeks and I've finally moved through it. I'm ready to get back on the bandwagon and work towards eating healthy and exercising 5x per week. Challenges really help me stay on target. It's very fulfilling to know that there are others here in CC land that want the same as me :D I am proud of myself for not gaining weight while on hiatus. I still had my goal in mind, I just wasn't logging what I was eating. deloughy have a great time at Disney World. I'm jealous! |

Name: Betsaroonie This week I went up than down in weight and actually I lost 1.8 lbs, but because of the dates of weigh-in I came up with only .6 lbs lost. Oh well. It really doesn't matter, cause I know I'm doing good. Any weight loss is good, no matter how big or small. There has already been some impressive weight loss in this challenge already. Way to go everyone! Restless_girl could you add up all the weight loss for this week when everyone posts their numbers? It would be fun to see how much our group has lost. |

I wanted to change the way I was living my life, from an unhealthy lifestyle to a healthy lifestyle. I went to the doctor for a physical a few months back, and didn't like what I was hearing. Blood sugar was high, blood pressure was higher than normal, weight was just under obese, had early signs of diverticulitis, and I just felt like crap. I also didn't like what I saw in the mirror. So that was it, I wanted to change what I was eating and exercise on a more regular basis. I was searching on the Internet for information on calorie counting and accidentally found this site. It changed my life for the better. I have found so much information here as well as great support. I love the CC community! I log all my food. On the days that I eat out, I either try to guess what the calories are, but if I can't I call it a free day and only eat half the food. I exercise 5x a week, either walking, jogging, or aerobics. I try to mix things up to keep it interesting. I join challenges to share with others and get/give support. I zigzag my calories, but average around 1400-1500 calories. I increase my food on days that I have a hard workout, and eat less on the days I don't exercise. I am rarely hungry, I always carry a snack with me just in case I get hungry. I eat 5-6 meals a day, so I don't binge at all. I always set my daily goal of calorie intake, and stick to that plan if I can. I've lost 25 lbs in 4 months. It feels great, and I love the attention I get from my friends and family :) I am just really focused on being good to myself. I never deprive myself. I still have those sweet treats, but not the super size servings. I've given up somethings, ice cream, alcohol, fried foods, and most fast foods. My health goal is just so much more important than stuffing my face! And one thing I do that really works for me, is I weigh myself everyday. I know they say to only weigh yourself weekly, but I see it as a daily reminder. Sometimes it goes up but most of the time it goes down (I love it when it goes down hehe!) |

Hi everyone! I wanna join too. I need to be in challenges to make me feel I'm not alone in this quest to a new and healthier life. I've been a member of CC since June 1, 2008 and I've lost 25 lbs so far. I'm entering my intake everyday (for the most part) eating 1200-1500 calories, and exercising 5x per week. My weight loss has been steady and easy. I thought it would be a lot harder than it as been to loose the weight, but CC and all the great support here has really motivated me :) Good luck everyone! Hi everyone, I just had to share! I'm so excited! I've lost 25 lbs! It's been 4 months since I've started, and I've been a looser from the start. For once in my life being a looser is a winner! :D I'm past my half-way point, and I'm almost (just by .2 lbs) in my normal range of weight. I can't wait to have a normal BMI. Oh and I down 2 dress sizes! Being a looser is normal! LOL |

Darn those cookies! Just shake your bootie more this week to work it off. Well this week has been going well for me. I'm getting used to my life being in limbo. I interviewed for the dog walking job yesterday. It went well, but they wanted more irregular hours than I want to give them. They posed the job as certain set hours, but that really wasn't the case. I'm bummed. I'm going to let them know today that the job doesn't fit my time schedule :( Well I be looking for more job leads. Wish me luck! |

Original Post by deloughy: I know that going out to eat makes it very difficult to log your calories. I don't bother. When I eat out, I try to make smart choices. I ask the waiter what is in the dish. I'll order a salad with dressing on the side or bring my own dressing. Sometimes I order what I want, knowing it might be high calories. But the key to success is to limit what you eat. I make sure to have a healthy snack before I go out (so I'm not starving which might cause me to binge). I drink lots of water during the meal, no sodas, tea, coffee, wine, or anything that contains extra calories. Then I only eat half of my meal, sometimes less. I box it up and take it home for another meal or two later. Even when something is so good and I want to eat more, I think about how much time I have invested in my weight loss. I don't want to loose the progress I've made. That is more important to me than anything I'm eating. I have eaten out a lot lately, and I'm still loosing. It may take longer to loose that pound, but it does come off. :) |

This week was just crazy for me. I have been meaning to post my #'s but kept getting sidetracked. My weight loss has been steady. I have found it to be easy to loose weight without much trouble. I can be very determined when I set my mind to it. I eat 1400 to 1600 cals. I have been exercising about 5x per week. Either walking or taking an exercise class. I've even applied to a dog walking job! What an easy way to get paid for doing exercise (it does help that I love dogs). Well I'll see if I get the job. |

| Health & Support | Why is my pee brown? | Sep 18 2008 03:48 (UTC) |

What my first thought was, what are the supplements you are taking? Did you start having this brown urine at the same time you started these supplements? I googled Creatine supplements and Wikipedia had this to say... SafetyCreatine supplementation, in the dosages commonly used, results in urinary concentrations that are 90 times greater than normal. The long term effects of this have not been investigated, but there is possibility for a variety of nephrotoxic, i.e., kidney damaging, events. There is potential for direct toxicity on renal tubules where urine is formed, and for acceleration of kidney stone formation. When I take my supplements it changes the color of my urine. It is a darker yellow. If I were you I'd ask my doctor about the use of this Creatine supplement. But you should for sure call you doctor ASAP, anything like that is not normal. |

The latest... Lose 30 Pounds By Christmas! Start weight on CC (June 1, 2008) 181.2 GOAL: 139 lbs (30 lbs would be 134.6)
Well not so great this week. Only lost 0.6 lbs. Well hey, I'll take it. At least it's in a downward direction. I've been loosing weight differently now than when I first started. Maybe it's because I've lost 10% of my body weight? I've heard that can cause things to change and slow down. Has anyone heard this? So when I first started to loose, it was steady up and down every day or so. Now I can be at the same weight for a week, then WHAM, I drop 2-3 lbs. Then the next day I will go up a small amount, and then I hold my weight again. Anyone experiencing this? |

Okay so here is the latest on me... Lose 30 Pounds By Christmas! Start weight on CC (June 1, 2008) 181.2 GOAL: 139 lbs (30 lbs would be 134.6)
So I really happy with this week's loss. I've been doing well on logging my calorie intake and my activities, that is...until today. My son started high school and today was his first real instruction day. OMG I was stressed, and he was stressed. I know things will get better, but boy am I tired. Of course he's more tired than me. Poor kid, he is having to adjust to the work load, and a hours commute to and from school. This is a big change for him as we have home schooled in the past. I didn't log in a thing today. I hope tomorrow will be better. I don't want to screw up all my hard work. |

deloughy: Those recipes sound delish! I read somewhere here on CC that if you take the light coconut milk and put it in the fridge over-night; the fat will rise to the top and harden, and you can then remove it. It won't change the way it tastes. I haven't tried it yet. I love creamy curry dishes, so I can't wait to try the Curried Sweet Potato dish.

Lose 30 Pounds By Christmas! Start weight on CC (June 1, 2008) 181.2 GOAL: 139 lbs (30 lbs would be 134.6)
Ready-set-go! I'm off to a good start. I've had a steady weight loss since I've started with CC, and I've lost 16.6 lbs! Not bad for 3 months. I zig-zag between 1200-1600 but average around 1400 cals. I exercise 5x per week either walking, jogging, smimming, biking, step or kickbox classes. My goal was to get back into great physical health. I hope everyone is excited about this challenge! I know I am. I did a walking challenge and we walked 4 miles every day. It was a great motivation. I wish everyone success in this challenge! |

Original Post by heartscoffee: I have chickens, so I eat hard boiled eggs too. But watch out for the yokes, cause they're packed with cholesterol at 212mg. Maybe eat one without the yoke. You still get protein at 3.6g, the cholesterol drops to zero, and only 16 cals! Another great source of protein is 100% Whey Protein. It comes in Vanilla and Chocolate. It's not great in taste by itself, but is great blended with fruit or milk. If you get some watch out for some brands which are high in calories. You can buy it anywhere, Costco, TJ's, GNC, Target... I have Whey Protein in the morning before I exercise. I usually can't eat right when I get up, but I can drink protein drinks. I use Designer Whey. It's 100 cals per serving, 18g protein, and only 55mg of cholesterol. |

Original Post by kokobunn: I can hear your frustration. I haven't hit any plateaus yet, but I try to always do things differently each day. What I mean is I change my exercise routine and I zig-zag my calories. On the days I have an intense exercise routine, I eat more that day. The same goes on days I don't exercise or have a light day of exercise, then I eat less. Check out this website for a suggested zig-zag calorie intake. http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm The other thing I do is I measure or weigh what goes in my mouth. I found guessing never worked for me, I was always way off. When you measure dry ingredients make sure you're not adding more, stay below the rim of the measuring cup. I recently saw a Yahoo video (wish I had the link) that showed how many more calories you would consume if you kept padding your measurements. This video was astounding! We think we a ok with our calories, but if you "fudge" every time, those calories add up to a lot of extra calories. I've read on CC that when you hit a plateau, eat more. Up your calories. Now don't freak out, it's only for a day or two, then go back to zig-zagging. This should give your metabolism a kick. You are doing things right with your diet. Hang in there. |
