Seriously, use the tools on Calorie Counter and check your BMI. If you are healthy, there is NO REASON to try and lose weight. Stick to healthy eating, try some weight training and GET LOST. Get a counselor if you feel so disgusted with your appearance. And save us your breath.

As for me, I would love to be 140 or 150. Hell I'd love to be 160. I would kill to be 120. Girls like me cry themselves to sleep wishing they could be you skinny girls. You don't know how lucky you healthy girls are.

For those who complain about being 120, try to imagine being 180 or over. Try to imagine not being able to wear your mom's clothes because you are too big. You can't share sweaters with your friends because you shop in Lane Bryant while they shop at Hollister. Boys look at you and grimace. People openly tease you and despise you for being bigger than them. Try living that life every day for years. Then, yo may be justified in talking about losing weight.

If the doctor says you're fine, you're fine. If not, alter your habits.


OK- First, I get your frustration. I was always a bit overweight, and I always hated/was jealous of the skinny girls. I thought, "those stupid b*****s, they're so lucky that they're so slim." I found out years later that they either exercised for 4 hours every night, or they had anorexia, or they counted every single calorie they ever ate. And meanwhile, I ate chips and candy every day, didn't exercise, and wondered why I didn't look like them.

It's usually not "luck" if someone is slim while another person is obese. My sister is obese, because she doesn't exercise and eats a lot of junk food. I'm skinny because I woke up at 6 am this morning to run 3 miles and carefully count my calories. I'm not overweight by any stretch, but I don't think it's a crime that I want to lose 15 pounds. Yes, its completely about the smaller jean size and the wanting to be more attractive to boys. I bet you'll find that once you get down to a healthy weight, you'll want more, and start looking to lose some vanity pounds.

Having your period means you're healthy enough to carry a baby.

When you don't get your period for months on end, that means you are seriously unhealthy, and your body knows "Hey, I won't be able to support a baby for 9 months, so no egg this time. Maybe next month!"

And when you don't get your period, it means your estrogen levels are all out of whack. Estrogen is key for strong bones - without it, calcium starts leaching from your bones, which is why women start getting osteoporosis after going through menopause. You don't want osteoporosis!! Have you talked to your doctor about a bone density scan? After not having it for four years I would be absolutely terrified about my bones. :S

I dunno about your other questions, but on the topic of Ramadan - Do you wake up for Fajr and have a meal before it? If you don't, you should. Have a piece of toast with pb&j, some cottage cheese, and a banana at the end, and you'll be full for hours. I've been fasting Mondays and Thursdays to prepare, and I ate at 3 am and wasn't hungry until 1 pm. So give it a try. :)

 

p.s. How did you possibly run during the day? I can't imagine running and not being allowed any water!

I'm 5'9" and about 150. yuck haha.

 

I got down to 139 a couple months ago but I was binging like crazy from like stress and w/e so now I'm back up to 150. Eew. My pants are tight and its awful.

 

My goal is 135. :)

Make sure to wake up for Fajr and eat then. Lots of people just sleep in and don't eat in the morning, but I don't know how they don't collapse! I've been practising for it by fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, so when Ramadan comes I'm in the habit. This morning I woke up at 3 am and ate a piece of toast with pb & jam, a bit of cottage cheese, and a banana. I drank about a litre of water too lol. Now its 1 pm and I'm still not hungry or thirsty. You just have to figure out what works for you, and you've still got a month and a half for that. :)

I feel fatter now too. (Lost 30 pounds). I think its just that I'm so aware now of how much weight I was carrying around without even noticing - part of me feels like I might still have 30 pounds of fat clinging to me, and everyone is lying to me and saying I look fine... (like they did before!)

I'm 5'9", my BMI is 21.9. I wear a 9 in jeans, 8 in dress pants, and 8 in dresses.

Not to be a downer.. but high school sucked. Graduation was the highlight of those 4 years. Everybody's experience is different though. You might have great people in your year!

I was a 38 B before I lost weight (30 pounds). I don't know what I am now, because I haven't bought new bras, but when I run my bra wiggles more than my boobs do, if that says anything... Surprised

I'm 5'9.5" and 140-ish pounds. I'm a 7 or 9 in pants.

And tallulah, it really doesn't help being 5 inch es taller, does it! haha. I hate pants being too short :(
