I agree that it is not the most realistic way to live, but used properly, I believe they can be helpful.

I use one shake per day during the week and eat a normal healthy breakfast on the weekends.  I'm not much of an early morning eater and eating too early has a tendency to upset my stomach (???); so I drink a shake on my way to work.  After I arrive, I then have something healthy to complete my breakfast, such as fruit or veggies or a 100 cal snack bar, etc.

Slim Fast Optima shakes are between 180 and 190 calories and the Capuccino Delight is positively yummy.  The Royal Chocolate is pretty good too.  Drinkable but not great is the Milk Chocolate and the French Vanilla.  I haven't tried any of the others.

Good luck!

Weight Loss ditched your SPANX? Oct 10 2007

I still wear my control top panty hose every day for work, but no longer wear any other "tummy control holder".

I do still pull the spanx out when I am moving down to the next size and find something that is just a skooch too small in the hip/belly. Although I have noticed the spanx aren't doing their job quite as well because they are getting too big.

YEAH!

Slim Fast Optima shakes / drinks are between 180 and 190 cals for a 12 oz can (I think the size is 12oz).  The calorie range depends on the flavor you chose.  The Cappucino Delight is 180 cals; the Milk Chocolate or Royal Chocolate are both 190 cals.  As for the cost, 6 cans is approximately $5.00.  I purchased them on sale at WalMart and received 2 cans free.  So, 8 cans for $5.00 = $0.625 per can.

I use Slim Fast Optima shakes / drinks for my breakfast on most week day mornings.  I'm one of those people that doesn't like to eat first thing in the morning.  So I have an Optima shake; then when I get to work I have a healthy snack.  I eat a regular healthy lunch and dinner.  All total is about 1500 cals per day.  Slim Fast Optima shakes work great for me.  You'd have to try it to decide what works with your body and metabolism.

I absolutely love the RenFaire.  My DH and I volunteer to work it at least once each year.  We volunteer through AYSO soccer organization and staff a beer booth or tent each year.  This year was the first year we went in our own costumes.  See my gallery, I have posted 2 photos of us in costume along with adding my individual photo as my profile photo.

I can't wait until next year's Faire!Kiss

Weight Loss Ladies - average PMS water retention? Sep 05 2007

To Shelbysmomma - Just wanted to share my two cents, but 980 calories per day is not healthy and you can't possibly live this way for the rest of your life.  A woman should have at least 1200 calories per day; no less.  Less than that and your body just goes into starvation mode and holds on to whatever fat it has stored as well as continually collecting for more fat storage.

As far as the original topic of weight gain during your period - I gain approximately 3 to 5 lbs in water weight.  Just ignore it; know that it happens and move on.  Just like if you had a bad day or week or whatever in your caloried intake - ignore it, get back on track, and move on.
