Thanks for all of your comments. I'm so excited! I made an appointment for July 1st. As of now I'm going to continue working out but only for an hour. Two hours is pretty excessive.

Don't hold it in.  If you're mad at someone you should let them know.  You should practice expressing yourself without yelling or cursing.  It will make you feel better regardless of there reaction.  People will also start treating you differently.  Try writing it down first and practice if you need to.   Then talk to them alone in private and let them know how upset you are.  You'll gain a lot of respect and you'll feel better about putting them in there place.  Speak to them firmly and let them know where you stand.

If it's not a person and it's an incident.....try meditation.  Listen to some music, take a long bath, light up some fancy candle...relax.  Watch a rerun of your favorite show or movie.  It's not worth stressing out about if you can't change it.

So far from you posting you sound healthy.  For your height your weight sounds great.  Maybe your being a little hard on yourself.  You're gaining muscle so keep your chin up.

what did you decide to do differently?

Previously I was doing 2 hours of random gym classes. I started doing an hour of circuit training on my own and using more weights. I heard weight training allows you to burn more calories through out the entire day. Not sure if it's true but it seems to be working. In addition to the 1 hour work out I decided to continue my yoga class twice a week. :)

I also only eat complex carbs.

Pregnancy & Parenting i dont want children but my wonderful husband does Jun 20 2008

I know where your coming from. I've never wanted children and told my husband before we got married. He married me anyway. We would argue about this all the time. The reasons for not wanting children:

1) I enjoy my lifestyle and freedom.

2) Deathly afraid of childbirth.

3) I thought I couldn't have children and didn't care to look into it.

I just found out I'm pregnant. I panicked for a few hours. Then something came over me...sheer joy. If anything I'm afraid of losing the baby. It's crazy but true! You've heard it before, something comes over you. I'm not very fertile so it makes it extra special.

You have to look inside and ask yourself why you don't want to have them. You might find out they stem out of fear like mine did. I didn't realize these fears until after I was pregnant.

You can have a baby and continue living the same lifestyle with several modifications. You might look at other parents and say "that's not me". But that won't be you. You'll have a different experience of your own.

Can you picture a life without children at the age of 50, 60, or 70? Can you picture a life without grandchildren? I never wanted children but I couldn't imagine being happy without having grandchildren over for Christmas when I'm old.

If you decide not to have them I would suggest breaking the relationship or therapy. This is a very important issue that will keep creeping in and out. Especially when you see family & friends with their children.

Ps) I'm 31 too. I lived my youth to the fullest. From the college years, to the nightclubs, to dating, and vacations, I did it all. I think that makes a huge difference. A baby shouldn't make you feel you "miss out" on anything but sleep.

Vegetarian Hi, I'm new here, and a vegetarian! Jun 17 2008

Welcome Articmonkey!

I had the same problem.  I gained weight as a vegetarian. I had replaced my meat with desserts.  I was called a dessertarian!!!

It's hard to be a healthy vegetarian while eating out.  Many restaurants I went to did not have healthy vegetarian dishes.  I was eating a ton of carbs.

I started cooking at home and actually adding vegetables into my diet.  So far I've lost weight.  I only eat good carbs like whole grains, fruits, beans.  I also discovered Panera!  They have two veggie soups with wheat bread (very healthy too).  Or you can have the  Mediterranean veggie sandwich.  They also carry fruit you can replace the chips with.

You shouldn't have to compromise your beliefs or weight goals.  You can do this!

Vegetarian How long have you been a vegetarian? WHY? Jun 17 2008

I've been a vegetarian for 4 months.  I've been trying for a long time to make the switch but unfortunately I had no support from my family, friends or husband.

One day I woke up and said "This is insane!  I don't tell people what to eat.  Why does my husband get so upset at the thought of me being a vegetarian?"  I finally put my foot down and said enough is enough.

I have many reasons for being a vegetarian like so many of you.  I have to be true to myself.  There is so much destruction in this world and and I don't want any part of it.

Now I understand that people give us a hard time to feel good about the choices they make.  Everyone at some subconscious level knows it's wrong.  Vegetarians are like kids that figure out Santa does not exist.   Nobody likes to hear it because it requires sacrifices.

I have family members tell me how "unhealthy" it is for me.  How I'm not getting enough protein.  How bland my food must be.  They are wrong!  Hearing comments like this feels like being sucker punched while having a veggie sandwich.  Part of me does not want to respond because I never ask others to explain why they like to clog their arteries while they eat a steak.

I need pointers on how to defend my beliefs.  Any suggestions on how to deal with anti-vegetarians?  Without pissing anyone off or getting pissed?

I hate TGIF's too.  They have a portobello sandwich and an eggplant lasagna salad that are gross.  I stay away from that place.

I was on the no carb diet and lost a lot of weight quickly. However, I gained it all back quickly too. :(

I feel it's a yo-yo diet.

It's nearly impossible to keep the diet going for very long.

I almost killed my husband for eating fries in front of me. Yikes!

I try only eating complex carbs. I'll cheat sometimes on the weekends.

With the no carb diet you can't cheat at all!

So much meat and chicken can be a too much.

If you decide to continue with the diet..... take some vitamins too.

I recommend looking up ethnic recipes for inspiration from the everyday cooking.

Everyone gets frustrated at some point.  I think I had my breaking point yesterday.

This morning I went to work out and as laid on the gym floor I asked myself "Why are you doing this?".  I just want to feel good about myself.  I know you've heard it before but you have to do it for yourself.

It will all come together for you.   Keep working at it.  You have plenty of time left to get back on track.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Leiela,  I think you're right I should be drinking a lot more water than I am.  I'm hiding my scale too!

Macmattey, I'll try your recommendations.  I'm so ready for a challenge.  I'm going to stop taking the classes and go solo.

I'll let you both know how it works out in 2 weeks.

I have a goal and I'm not going to give up trying.

Yes I'm exercising 2 hours a day, everyday. I don't feel that sore so I keep working out. I have only felt sore 3 times in the last 3 weeks in whice I only did cardio following days.

I'm 31 years old.

I've also been eating Chipotle burritos! I thought they were healthy but I just looked them up on this site and they are horrible!

Their website does not have any nutritional info.

Weight Loss Is dieting supposed to make me pissy? Jun 04 2008

Hey I have been very pissy too.  I don't think it's as much as what I'm eating but how much I'm working out.  I have all this energy and when people act so lazy it pisses me off.  Well, maybe it's the food too.  Anyways, I'm starting to count to ten and hold my tongue.  It will pass.  I hope it does.  :)
