Hi, I'm so so so so sorry I have not updated in such a long time. I have spent the last year getting a year-long degree in Biblical Studies (this is when I put the weight on). Unfortunately towards the end of the course I stopped posting because I got literally CAUGHT UP with my studies and final tests, classes, etc. I have been on Summer break and things have only slowed down as I go off to College in Florida now. We take off from the UK today!

Anyway, the bad news is this: I do not blame stress or "comfort-eating" in any way. No... I have gained about 7 more lbs and I am borderline overweight. I knew exactly what I was doing, and I let myself do it.

However, I need to step out as I have not accomplished the goal. I will be ultra busy at College and will not have time to post, probably. Well done to all those who kept with it and made it until the end. I'm so happy for you! :)

Please accept my apologies and maybe one day I will post with better news about weight loss  somewhere in here.

Motivation My vow this week is............ May 11 2009

Run at 3 times this week & do step aerobics at LEAST twice (maybe three times). Stay active, and only one sweet thing a day - if I miss something sweet altogether I just crave it more... grr...

Resist snacks between classes.

Eat at least one portion of fruit or vegetable a day. It takes just as much time and energy to peel a candy bar as well as an orange. That's my philosophy.

Give some encouragement to my friends who are also trying to lose weight... some of us girls in the dorm are trying to lose a few pounds before graduation!

Bleh... not fair! TOM totally mucks up my weight. I shouldn't have gained anything because I haven't gone over my allowance at all! (I have not lost anything either, but hey...)

So:
Starting Weight: 130 lbs
Current Weight: 127 lbs

Total Loss: 3 lbs

~cries~ I will be doing better this week! Exercise everyday for at least half an hour! :)

Solero Tropical Fruit Icecream - only 99 kcal. <3 I was offered one yesterday but I thought that they would be extremely high-calorie but my friend (who's also quite health-conscious) showed me the box -  a HUGE amount and only 99 cals!!

...that is a good idea... I've never really thought about that technique before. That is encouraging, frokus. I'm like you - I can't have just half of the dessert, I need to have a whole thing.

And tasteless alternatives to something I really enjoy (like substituting okra for meat or something - just an example - I've never done that before, but you get what I mean) are just as much of a waste of calories. You have to enjoy your food!

I will try your approach. It's a great idea. Smile

College is great thanks, prosperit_e! :) Thanks for asking.

I'm really not trying guys. I'm so ashamed... and I'm serious. I'm cheating pretty much 5 out of the 7 days each week, so my weight is not budging anywhere. I weigh myself tomorrow, and I know it will be on the 126 lb mark or maybe higher.

TOM is not helping... I was wondering why I was so ravenous yesterday... I guess that had something to do with it. Anyway, I will just try to pace myself throughout the day.

Will post update tomorrow. Well done for those who have lost, guys!! Kudos!!

Ok - I've recovered from flu and I confess to cheating over that time - though if I was trying to lose weight over this I would prolly still have it (but I WAS kinda hoping I would loose weight BECAUSE of illness - but that's unhealthy... hehe)

I had to call the NHS Helpline because they thought it might be swine flu... but I thoguht that was a little strange as I have had no contact with anyone from Mexico.

Age 18
Height 5'4

April 20 / Week 1: 130 lbs [starting weight]
April 27 / Week 2: 126 lbs
May 4  / Week 3: 126 lbs - it's true what they say - cheating gets you nowhere. XD

Oh - and thanks so much for the tips on page 16 guys!! Even though I cheated, I didn't gain anything. I appreciate your tips! :)

Way to go, guys. For those that have lost, keep going!! And for those who have gained (temporarily), KEEP GOING!! :) Don't give up!!

I have a really bad case of flu (not the swine flu!!) but I am confined to my dorm room... so... I... let me put it this way. I've been eating wayyyy more than I should be as I am pretty sedentary in my room. I'm so tired but I can't sleep.

I'm eating out of boredom!! D:

Is there any advice or encouragement anyone can give me? I weigh myself on Monday and I know I will gain if I don't do something about my "boredom-eating"...

Okay... I have what seems like a "rapid" weightloss but for some reason there is no logic to it.

Starting weight: 130 lbs
Goal Weight: 116 lbs

Current weight: 126 lbs

Loss: 4 lbs

I will probably fluctuate higher than ever next week. It doesn't help that I have a cold... which stops me from exercising so much.

Thanks for the welcome, heavenly. ~huggle~ I felt the exact same way yesterday, and a couple days before I weighed myself for the first time in ages and that's when I realised I weighed 130 lbs. I had put on an entire stone since last summer (meh... the college freshman fifteen monster captured me!) and that's when I decided to do something about it! I am hoping to start this week well with good choices, and I hope that you continue to stay strong! :)

God bless you too, heavenly! † We can be used for His glory to the best of our ability when we are fit and healthy!

Good motivational music with menaingful lyrics help you to concentrate on what you're doings as well as keep you going through the work out. Eye of the Tiger and Walk This Way by run DMC are good too.

Sorry for the late update!! Ok, my cheating has caught up with me... I'm bacl to where I was 2 weeks ago (126 lbs - which I totally don't get at all) so I really need to try hard this week. I'm still down 4 lbs, but I put on three.

It's so hard at college. Especially in a place where they cook all your meals for you and you have NO idea how to count the calories... and it's not like we have a menu. It's one meal and you either like it or you don't. Salad is my best friend... but then again, some of the cooks like to put calorie packed dressings on the salad so I have to have tiny portions of everything. I ould cook for myself but I do not have the time, resources, or money. I pay for my cafeteria meals and it sucks that I have no choice in what I eat.

It's not too bad... the food is delicious and I'm grateful for what they do... I just needed to rant.

Well done to all of you who are losing - and for those who are struggling like me,just keep going!! We can do it!!

Ok, so I'm down to 123 lbs, from 126 lbs (??) but I've been cheating ALOT. I feel so bad. I could've lost more but I have been eating over 1200 cal EVERY day and it's terrible. So I'm just maintaining. And I keep fluctuating, and I don't trust the scales in the dorm bathroom anyway...

But well done to everyone so far!! Keep going and don't give up!!

Well, if the faulty "communal" scales are right, I'm down to 126 lbs from 128.5 lbs. But I could fluctuate. I don't like them, but I'll take it for now! I'm still needing to order some.

I hope you all have an encouraging week!! Keep going even if you're up!! I go up and down all the time!

Just a heads up... I don't have access to GOOD bathroom weighing scales at college, but I'm going to order some on my own. But until then I won't be able to weigh myself - which means I will miss the weigh in on Sunday. As soon as I get the scales I will update. :)

FYI. ;)

Food in general is a temptation for me. I will eat pretty much anything - within reason.

Seriously though...

Chocolate Raisins are my bane. I could polish off a packet easily. The problem is that the raisins as well as the chocolate is so high in calories that it just gives me nightmares.

Oatmeal (with jam/jelly) I'm not one for sugar. I don't like experimenting with oatmeal mix-ins and toppings just in case I like them.

Granola >: D - topped with flavoured yoghurt. I've had to stop eating this for now as it is a strong temptation to get a second bowl. Occasionally i have it as a treat.

Homebaked Chocolate Chip & Oatmeal Cookies / Homemade Mince Pies - Best when they're still warm out of the oven... my mother knows how to make them melt in your mouth...

Prailines / Hazelnut-ey Chocolate / Lindt - If you have never tried Thorntons Alpini Bars, don't. Spare yourself from the addiction.

Oreos - though that isn't too bad as Oreos in England aren't as big as in the States. Unless my USA friends decide to send me a "care package" which are filled with Reese's & Rold Gold's & Sun Chips aswell as Oreos.

Lastly, Pretzels. Actually not too bad - but when you dip them in nutella, that's when you need to start worrying.

A detailed list... please excuse me while I chain myself to the chair. I have a sudden urge to go for a walk in to the kitchen.

I will put in yesterday's weigh in as I will not even see what I am today - or for the next fews days for that matter. ToM completely messes up my weight and blows me up to the proportions of a beach ball. (If only I was as light as one... teehee)

Yesterday's takings:

Starting Weight: 130 lbs
Current Weight: 127.5 lb

Loss: 2.5 lbs!!

Goal Weight: 120 lbs

You're all such an encouragement!! Keep going!!

Just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! Have a great 2009!

prosperit_e, I do know how you feel sometimes about the whole hunger thing. But then at other times I'm not hungry at all and could go for hours without eating. My activity is normal, but I just don't get hungry. Yet I'm not a person who "forgets" to eat, if you know what I mean! ;) I think about food often - if it is time to eat, I eat!

I see I haven't done my research thoroughly. ;) I'll look into buying myself my own set of scales. I'm at home from college so I'm currently using my family's scales which must be pretty naff. I knew they were anyway - but I felt like I needed to vent a little.

Thanks for the advice! :)

That's good news Jessie!! I know what it's like to snack on choccies when you've had low cal meals... you feel you should make up for it!

But the root of the problem is - do you feel full?? Soup and veggies are good in general. Soup gives you a full feeling and warms you up (comfort food!) and is generally low in calories. The same with veg.

I know what you mean about not weighing yourself... I had to pluck up alot of courage to stand on those scales. But now its over with, and everytime I stand on it now, all I can say is, "how bad can it be? I've already had the worst" Its the first initial weigh-in that's the most depressing, because you're hit with the cold hard reality of how much weight you need to lose!

I know that this thread will contain weigh-ins, but to keep this thread moving during the week, does anyone have any tips or encouraging thoughts on foods, recipes, or exercising? Does anyone have an special regimes that are working for them??

I actually have some good news - I managed to stay in my calorie goal today!! I've been quite bad with that - especially because of the holiday season. But I was successful and my willpower stuck it out - I find that encouraging!! It is hard to stay in the goal especially when you're in the habit of over-eating.

Anyone have any good news to share?

I'm Christine! Its so great that you all have healthy goals and post encouraging messages. I would love to join this group. I have a rather embarrassing reason - I lost weight last year and it's almost all come back! I lost it way too fast, but if I go a little slower with other people holding me accountable then maybe I won't be so reckless with my eating habits.

Losing 10lbs by March 31st sounds like a great idea... but I go back to college next week and it's going to be hard as all my meals are cooked for me and I will be struggling for time to exercise. I will try!!

Congratulations, Lauren! That's wonderful!

I am currently 5'4", and the last time I was brave enough to weigh myself I was 120 lbs, but I think I have put a bit more on  now. I lost loads of weight last year. I used to weigh about 135 lbs, and I went down to 112 lbs. But it has crept up over the past three or four months since last summer and I know if I don't do something about it, I'm going to gain it all again!

I would like to lose about 10 lbs and reach 112 lbs again. Hopefully I will lose about a 1-2 lbs a week and be trim in about 2 months. ^^

Unfortunately I don't have time to exercise as I work very odd hours at a Residential Home. It's terrible, because I'm always snacking there and that's where I go wrong. It's all the wrong food! I have a real problem with junk food. If I cut them out, I would be fine.

Jessf, I have a friend too who's smug about her weight! It just gets your blood boiling, doesn't it? XD
