| Weight Loss | Wu-yi tea diet? | Oct 09 2008 04:17 (UTC) |

Hmmm well I've never tried the tea, but I live in China and a number of my Chinese friends swear by it. I should add though, that they also don't eat much when they're drinking it. Usually just one meal per day. My Canadian friend used it and said it only gave her diarrhea. |

| Weight Loss | My friend is a bad food influence!!! HELP! | Jul 11 2008 03:02 (UTC) |

I'm glad I'm not alone on this! It's really hard to deal with. You all have good suggestions though, thanks :) I guess this is always something I've dealt with to a certain degree with various friends, but it's particularly hard this time because we have to be together 24 hours/day for 21 days. I feel like she's probably as irritated as I am because (like most girls), she's always wished she could be thinner and my not being interested in her junk food makes her feel guilty for eating it, so she projects the guilt onto me Hopefully we can work it out, we've known each other for years |

I love Egg Beaters! I used to eat an egg beater omelette every morning with a half a slice of fat free Kraft American cheese. Couple that with a piece of whole wheat toast and soy sausage and you've got a super low calorie, high volume, high protein, high fiber meal! Excellent substitute for whole eggs, never bothered me that they weren't "natural". Now I live abroad and don't have access to egg beaters, sometimes I make an omelette with 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg, but it's just not as convenient and it seems like a waste to just throw away the unused yolks. I guess that's more important to me than being "natural"...that's just my opinion though... |

When I first started taking the pill (I was 17), I gained between 5-10 pounds. I was taking Ortho Tri Cyclen. My doctor told me that initial gain is water build-up, but obviously the pill introduces some new hormones into your system, which can cause increased appetite and more permanent weight gain |

I definitely have that problem too. Also, sometimes I feel like it's hard to say "no" to a few friends. They'll want to share something they know I like, which is fattening and I'll say no and they want to know why. I hate the diet discussion at the dinner table -- so annoying. Anyways, if you're going to someone's home for dinner, serve yourself if possible. Load your plate with veggies or salad and just a small bit of whatever is fattening, so it looks like you're eating and enjoying their food. If you can't serve yourself, suck it up, eat whatever they put in front of you and work out twice as long when you get home and the next day as well. At a restaurant, I just try to avoid avoid avoid anything fattening. I know myself too well and I know there's no way I'm only gonna eat "a few fries" or half of a pasta and take the rest home. Uh uh, no way...if there's fries on the table period, I can't stop.

| Weight Loss | Is 3 set meals a day that important in weight loss? | Jul 06 2008 00:40 (UTC) |

It's important for women to eat every 3 hours to keep their metabolisms running at peak. You already know that all diet exerts support breakfast as it "wakes up" your system. I think the reason you feel hungrier during the day when you start with breakfast, is that your body knows it's awake and should be eating. Having a light breakfast (like a whole wheat or light English muffin with 1T of jam or one packet of oatmeal) followed by a light snack (banana, fat free yogurt or special K bar), will actually help you burn more calories than you would if you weren't eating breakfast at all. Even though you're eating more. Just make sure you eat every 3 hours, even if it's something light; that way your body won't go into starvation mode.
I don't know if it's posible to lose weight without eating 3 balanced meals a day. Well I guess it must be possible; people with restriction EDs lose a lot of weight, but it's not exactly healthy is it? |

When I need a sweet dessert, I whip up a little pseudo apple pie filling. I just slice an apple or two, steam it in a skillet with a little water, then once the water is gone, sautee in the teeniest bit of butter or margarine (you can leave it out and just add some more water), add 1 T brown sugar and load on the cinnamon. Sooooooo good. - 1T. brown sugar = 50 calories - 1 Large Apple = 110 calories - 1t. margarine = 34 calories (though I usually leave it out b/c of the fat) |

Chickpeas are a great source of fiber and protein. So if you're going to put them in a salad or pasta dish in place of meat, they're perfectly fine. Even a sprinkle over a salad with lean meat is good. It does have some fat, but chickpeas are really good for you. If you're concerned about it, you might try kidney beans. They also go really great on a salad and have less fat, more protein and fiber! |
