| Weight Loss | Why would I gain a pound a day? | Jul 11 2008 16:33 (UTC) |
6 |
I was doing a diet of around 1250 calories for 6 weeks. One week I lost 5.5 lbs but every other week I gained or maintained. This week I have uped my calories to around 1800 and I have lost 2.5 lbs since Monday. It is hard to say without knowing your entire story, but maybe you aren't getting enough calories. I think my body was thinking it was being starved, even though I ate 6 times a day and never felt like I was depriving myself. I know it is scary to up your calories, but sometimes it really is the best thing! Good Luck~ |

| Eggplant Parm
This is a recipe I made back when I was doing low carb dieting. But it is very tasty!! 2-3 eggs (depending how big your eggplant is) 1 1/4 -1 3/4 cups Parmesan Cheese (again depending how big your eggplant is) 1 large eggplant, sliced 1/4 inch thick Olive Oil for frying 1 1/2 cup sugar free spaghetti sauce 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese break eggs in shallow bowl and beat well, put parmesan on another plate dip each slice of eggplant in the egg, then when coated well dip into the parmesan so that it has a good coating of parmesan. Refridgerate 'breaded' slices for atleast 30 minutes or up to 2 hours. preheat oven to 350 Pour 1/8 inch of olive oil in the bottom of a heavy skillet over medium heat. Now fry the refrigerated eggplant slices until golden brown on both sides (you'll have to add more oil as you go) Spread 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a 9 x 11 pan. Arrange half the eggplant slices to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover with mozzarella and top with the remaining eggplant. Pour on remaining sauce and sprinkle with 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. |

I have really messed up feet too! I have a very high arch and the front of my foot is very wide and the back of my foot is very narrow. I have tried probably 30 different styles of shoes and for me the only ones that don't give me blisters are Nikes. I also found these AWESOME socks that are guaranteed to not give you blisters and they really work. They are called 'wright socks' I have been wearing them for the last 2 years and they really make a huge difference. goddess9, I am glad you got the heartrate monitor. I love having it. It is so nice to know if you are getting an effective workout. I wear mine whenever I workout and as soon as it starts beeping that my heartrate is low, I up my pace to get it back into the target zone. |

Hey! I don't know if you got a heart rate monitor yet, but I just got one about a week ago. I ordered it new off ebay and saved about 50%. I got a Polar F4. I paid about $45 for it with shipping and everything. You want to look for a monitor that tells you what your average heartrate is, how long you were in your target zone, and total calories burned. I love having it. I have seen a HUGE improvement in my workouts and my weight loss since I got it. Second thing, for the earbuds. I can't handle the bigger ones on a headband kinda thing, but I had the same problem with them popping out as I was walking/jogging. So the ones I got instead have a little hook thing that goes over the back of your ear. The kinda look like a blue tooth, without the part that comes down the side of your face to talk into. But I love em and they never 'pop out' because they aren't really in your ear, they just rest on your ear lobe. Hope that helps! GOOD LUCK! |

My favorite high calcium veggie is bok choy. I cook it on the stove with a drop of canola oil or peanut oil with a bit of garlic. Then top it with seasame seeds and low sodium soy sauce. It is very yummy, even my kids like it! |

| Weight Loss | wii fit? | Jun 12 2008 02:20 (UTC) |

yeah, I have the thick crapet feet on mine to make it a little higher. For now it is still a decent workout if you aren't used to it (for me anyway) I am sure when I get to that point I can get hubby to build me something to set it on. When I was at walmart here yesterday, they said that they got their initial order of the wii fit when they first came out, but they haven't gotten any more shippments of them since. I know toysrus here puts all their new out on Sunday mornings. That is where we got our wii system. So check with them. sophiesworld2, getting those extra hula hoops on is very challanging. especially when you have to lean and still keep circling your hips! |

I just got a wii fit yesterday. I called every store in town and Best Buy had gotten a shipment in yesterday morning. I live like 2 minutes from there so I quick ran over there and grabbed one. They had 6 left. (I thought about buying a couple and selling them on e-bay, since they are going for about $150 on there) The guy at the counter said I can't believe these are still here, they usually sell out in 15 minutes! Anyway, I love it! In addition to my hour walk outside, I did 20 minutes of work-out on the wii. That's 20 minutes in my time bank, not the actual time it took to set up all the stuff for my mii and everything. Let me let you I was sweating my butt off doing it too! I love the hula-hoop games. I am pretty good at em too. But my upper legs were KILLING me when I was done! And my kids played it for hours. I would much rather them do that then sit and play regular video games or just watch tv! My opinion is the Wii is well worth it! but that is just my happy opinion :)

| Weight Loss | Embarassing moments | Jun 11 2008 02:23 (UTC) |

I was at my sons b-day party a few months back and we were at a bowling alley. Everyone was sitting down eatting their pizza and I went to sit down to take a picture and the front 2 of the chairs legs bent totally out and I fell on my butt and my camera went flying. I was more worried about the camera being broken. I got up and said, wow, that makes me feel really great about myself. Then the guy working behind the counter came over and grabbed the chair. He straightened the 2 legs out and moved it to the other side of the bowling alley. I felt a little better, cause I figure someone else probably did it before me and the legs were already bent. Another embarrassing story that isn't about weight. My daughter and I went out to eat one night LONG time ago, she was like 3 maybe 4. There was a very old gray haired lady sitting at a table near us and as soon as we sat down my daughter pointed over at her and said "Look my a clown!!! Can we go say Hi!" I just wanted to crawl under the table. Gotta love kids!

Do you have a mall near you? Go mall walking, but leave your wallet in the car to reduce the temptation to stop and shop! Or one of the best, cheap pieces of exercise equipment you can buy is a big yoga ball. Just sitting on it and bouncing while you watch tv burns calories. Throw in some hand weights and you got a great work out. Most of them come with a sheet of different exercise you can do on it. Also, the library is a great place to go and check out work-out videos. I hate buying videos and then doing it once or twice and realizing I HATE it. Good Luck! |

Spuckine, one thing you should know is salon products are much more concentrated than drug store products. You may be paying $3-5 for shampoo but half of that is water. With salon products you only need to use a fraction of the amount you do with drug store products so in the end, they are actually about the same cost. Plus, if you purchase your hair products from a salon (please do not buy professional products at a drug store, 1 reason being they are usually out of date) they are guaranteed. If you have a Cost Cutters or something similar near you, it is a great place to buy product. They usually have package deals where you can get the shampoo and conditioner, sometimes with a styling aid for a really good deal. And if you use it a few times and don't like it, it doesn't work for your hair, you can take it back and try something different. Like I said before, my favorite is the matrix curl.life. Some salons too, if you go in and tell them you would like to try a certain product, they will give you a sample of it to try before you buy. Good Luck :-) |

| Weight Loss | How many calories should I eat ? | Jun 09 2008 21:01 (UTC) |

A couple things. One you might not be eatting enough. I know that sounds crazy sometimes, but if you are working out a lot, and burning a lot of calories, you need to make sure you are eatting enough. And make sure you are staying hydrated. Second, from what you said you are eatting, it doesn't sound like you are getting very much protein. You want to make sure that you get a little protein with every meal/snack. Finally, you have to remember, you didn't gain 10 lbs over night so it isn't going to come off over night. Usually the longer it takes you to lose, the more likely it will be to stay off. Losing 10 lbs in one week would be nice, but not if you gain it back plus 2 more lbs the following week, it isn't worth it. Good Luck! |

| Foods | is yoghurt really healthy? | Jun 09 2008 19:08 (UTC) |

I usually have a cup of yogurt every day. I see it as a good way for me to get some calcium, plus it has protein in it too. I think as long as you are not going for the full fat stuff it is a great snack. But that is just my happy opinion :) |
