I had to post a reply just because of your daughter's name, Tegan. Great name, that's my best friend since middle school's name. I've never met anybody else with that name. The closest I've heard is Tagan (sounds like megan but with a "t"). If I were you, I'd find a different doc because what your's told you sounds like a sack of crap. Some doc's like to "schedule" c-sections for their convenience, which sucks and should not be done. As for the VBAC in your case, I'd definitely talk to a doc about this one. From what I've heard about a VBAC it's all about how you were cut, was it a horizontal cut or vertical? Ohh and it's the cut on your uterus that matters, not the external cut. Vertical, chances of the cervix not holding together are much higher, so probably not a good idea. But if it's a horizontal cut and you healed well, there shouldn't be any problems unless a doc says so. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Slings vs. Carriers for Newborns, Your thoughts/experiences please | Jun 14 2008 20:44 (UTC) |

I'm a first-time Mommy so all I can tell you is what I'm getting based on what people have told me, and what my intuition says. I want a sling carrier for the early months (yay breastfeeding!!) and a regular carrier for later, when baby can hold her head up. Here are the ones I put on my registry. |

I am exactly 35 weeks today! I have been logging in exactly what I eat even the bad choices! I only have 6 days logged in, since I started on this site 6 days ago. But it's showing that I'm eating about 2100 calories a day, and I burn about 500 calories a day just doing normal everyday activities. I have started walking more. I take the stairs at work even though it takes me five minutes to catch my breath even taking them slow! I've been taking the dog for walks. I've doing low-impact stretches on my exercise ball. I am finding it harder to eat healthy since I'm SO hungry!!! But I'm on-track with my weight gain, where my doc says I should be (at least this month). But I've really got to watch it from now until Thursday so I don't gain anymore weight. Any suggestions? How can I satisfy the pregnancy cravings and keep my weight gain on a reasonable track? It's so easy to grab a cookie rather than slice up a piece of fruit. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | (Too much) Weight gain during pregnancy | Jun 10 2008 12:31 (UTC) |

This is my first pregnancy so I'm no pro or anything. But I think that everybody's body is different and designed to put on a certain amount of weight during pregnancy. I've heard other women agree with this too. Yes it's a great idea to watch what you eat and exercise. But you can be good and stick to your diet and still gain more weight (much more) than you were hoping to. As long as you are being relatively healthy and are getting all your vitamins & nutrients, I think zeroing in on the weight can wait until after the baby is born. At least that's what I'm trying to do! Good luck ladies! |

Pregnant lady right here! I just joined up. I'm due July 19. I've gained 36 pounds this pregnancy so far, with about 6 weeks to go. I haven't been concerned about the weight until this weekend. I have started to feel blubbery and unattractive. My "good" weeks I've eaten low fat, lots of fruits & veggies. On my "bad" weeks I've eaten a little bit of fast food (maybe 4 times the whole pregnancy, not bad for me!), high sugar content foods (cakes, cookies, chocolate) and just constant eating. I'm not sure if it's been boredom or just that pregnancy makes you ravenously hungry sometimes! Anyhow, I'm getting really serious now with trying to be "good". I know I need to exercise more, even though everything hurts. So I'm going to try to start walking a little bit like I used to. |

I got mine at Motherhood. I know typically their prices can be scary. But they had such a great selection and the prices weren't bad. I did buy mine a couple months ago, so maybe that affected the price. I got a brown tankini set for $25. It's super simple, but I love it. I would wear it daily if I could! For me the bottoms were a little bigger than I like, but my butt somehow managed to grow into them. I'm due July 19!!! Good luck. ~Dana |
