first of all- congratulations and good job.  you have achieved a lot.  i'm not sure why people aren't saying anything... but you are obviously making a lot of progress.  sometimes weight is considered taboo and people don't like to talk about it or bring it up because they are afraid of making you uncomfortable.  whatever the reason... don't focus on others.  just keep doing what you are doing and you will just continue to get more fit.  and don't be sad, be psyched for yourself and the progress you made!!!!

thanks ladies- it is so nice to have people who understand.  my friends are wonderful but all they can say is "you are already small, why can't you see it?".  bless their hearts :)

it sounds like a lot more people understand what i meant than i thought would.  i appreciate everyones responses. 

emily- it breaks my heart that someone as young as you is feeling so much pain.  i wish i had advice for you, but obviously i'm a little lost myself.  i think we all struggle with what our intellect knows to be true but then the little voices inside our head tend to be louder.  i know you said you don't really want to talk to a professional about it- but sometimes they are the best ones because they won't judge you or say things like "if you think you're fat what do you think of me..." 

isn't it funny how it is so easy to see the beauty in others- to forgive the flaws in others- but never to grant ourselves the same courtesy?

happy 2009 everyone! 

so, today is my first day back at work.  i was sort of looking forward to it- i had a long vacation with no structure- away from my gym and in freezing cold and icy weather.  this made it really hard to work out.  my gym is right next to the office, so happy to be back to that. 

the problem is, i get in today and my office has been filled with holiday treats.  everyone left their little presents for me (all food) while i was out.  it is sure nice of them, but good grief.  i've never seen so much gourmet chocolate. 

i'm still struggling right under the 140 line.

Hey girls- thanks for the encouragement.  It is good to be back.  I need to get back to counting caloires, as much as it gets to be irritating. 

I do'nt know if you guys have ever used any of the workouts you can buy for your Ipod- I got an endurance one that is REALLY hard, but really good.  It helps keep some of the boredom away too. 

I'm currently at 140- with a goal for the end of January of 135.  I think as long as I keep the eating healthy and keep working out really hard I should be able to do it.

Hi Girls- it has been a long time since I've posted.  Sadly, I have put on some serious weight.  A few months ago I was between 130-132 and now I'm fighting to stay under 140.  I"m pretty frustrated because I have really been doing a great job with working out.  I have been running, doing interval training, strength training and stretching.  I feel like my fitness level is improving, but the scale is NOT MOVING at all.  I can't believe I've let myself get so heavy again.  I'm so bummed out.

hi everyone- i am totally stuck at 131.  it is making me a little nuts.  i don't even have that much more to go, ideally i'd like to be at 128 but for some reason the last 3 pounds do NOT want to come off. 

i've been eating healthy and around 1500-1700 calories a day, i've been running 3 days a week with some strength training and either hiking, biking, or rollerblading on weekends for a few months now and have lost about 10 pounds total.  is my body just trying to tell me 131 is where i should stay????

ugh!!!  last week i was 131.  today 131.5.  i know i shouldn't get all huffy about half a pound, but i am frustrated.  i am eating well and doing great with the workouts.  i just feel like eating a huge bag of cool ranch doritos.

I am so sorry you are going through that.  I have been dealing with the same issue recently.  About a month ago my boyfriend, told me he still has feelings for his ex.  It was really hard to break it off with him, but obviously I had to.  It took me a few weeks to get back to where I felt like eating anything at all.  I am still working on feeling ok, but I am doing much better- and you will be too.  Hang in there.

i'm going down about a pound a week which is sort of bugging me because it feels so slow, but at the same time i know i need to be patient.  at least it is headed in the right direction :)

hey there- better late than never....

i've been on vacation, but i'm just hanging around with family and not too much temptation.  i was down 1 pound to 133 today.  slowly but surely :)

i'm not sure how many of you like sweet potatos, but one really yummy thing i've done is slice on really thin, but just a tiny bit of olive oil, and then sprinkle taco seasoning on them.  then bake them, they are healthy and make you feel like you are treating yourself. 

to go along with that, at the prepared foods counter they usually have some fish that is all seasoned and ready to go.  if you aren't too into fish, go for the white fish like halibut or mahi. 

a few fresh berries on the side and you'll have a really filling meal that is really good for you.

my weigh in this morning was pretty happy, my scale said 133 (which is probably really 134-135.  my scale weighs a little light). 

this was down from about 141 about a month ago.

So, I wrote earlier this week about stress eating....  I have been doing better with going to the gym and that has helped a lot.  But then on Tuesday I had the most stressful day in years.  1. I found out that my boss (who I love) is transferring to China  and 2.  While I was waiting at the train stop some guy pulled a gun out and started waiving it around in the air.  (nobody got hurt)

Ever since then all i want to do is eat potato chips and sleep.  Not really helping with my efforts.  I am going to get to the gym today and really want to get back on track before the weekend hits.

Thanks for starting this thread!!!  I have been having a difficult time the past few months.  I am 5'5" and 139, up from 130 3-4 months ago.  My ideal weight is about 125-127, but that seems SO far off right now.  The good news is a great new gym opened across the street from my office and I joined last week and went four times.  I just need to make it part of my daily habit.  And quit all the of my stress-eating!!!
