I have no problem using the activity log. It logs the date, what I did, how long, and cals. Here an example of mine. The format isn't showing right, but you get the idea. Mon, Nov 02 2009 Mins Cals Weight Lifting - (Free Weight Nautilus or Universal-type), Light or Moderate Effort, Light Workout, General 30 135 Total Calories Burned 135 Tue, Nov 03 2009 Mins Cals Elliptical Trainer - Light Effort 30 360 Total Calories Burned 360 Wed, Nov 04 2009 Mins Cals Weight Lifting - (Free Weight Nautilus or Universal-type), Light or Moderate Effort, Light Workout, General 30 135 Total Calories Burned 135 |

My first husband and I had already lived apart for several years when I applied for a divorce so it was easy. I paid a paralegal to help me fill out the forms and file them. Way cheaper than a lawyer. But we had no assets to divide either. Laws in states vary widely. Mine happens to be a no fault community state. Doesn't matter why the divorce, each person gets half the assets. Houses have to be sold to buy out the other persons half, etc. |

| The Lounge | Everyone should adopt China's One Child Policy | Dec 11 2009 22:26 (UTC) |

I'm obviously in the minority in thinking that children are not the problem with overpopulation. In my opinion it's the fact that we now have the medicine and technology to keep people alive longer. I know several older people that take a suitcase of meds everday. People are selfish. When a loved one dies, we don't grieve over their loss, we grieve over ours. Example: When a loved one is terribly burned we want the doctors to save them no matter what. Doesn't matter that they will be in pain for the rest of their lives. They will be here for us. Or a 85 yr old parent that gets quadruple bypass surgery so they can live another 2 years in a nursing home. Or the car crash victim that will be a vegetable for the rest of their lives, but hey, they lived so it's all good, right. My family already knows if my motorcycle crashes tomorrow to let me die. It's the natural cycle of life. They will grieve and then they will get on with their lives. |

| Weight Loss | Power 90? | Dec 11 2009 18:27 (UTC) |
|
Power 90 is good. I used to have it before someone else wanted it more (stolen). It's a great workout but if you are anywhere near a healthy BMi then P90X is better. Power 90 only has 2 workouts that you alternate and P90X has 10 I think. It's more advanced and better for getting ripped. I plan on getting it once I get my weight down to a point that I won't hurt myself, lol. |

| Weight Loss | Confused on what should be the right amount of calories for me??? | Dec 11 2009 18:10 (UTC) |
|
1200 is the absolute MINIMUM. Many people find that way too low. If you feel at all hungry or start to binge then please up them. I couldn't do it so I increased my time at the gym and now eat 1400-1500. Big difference in how I feel overall. |

| Weight Loss | Thank you for your tips on ways to hit the 1200-1500 mark. | Dec 09 2009 19:11 (UTC) |

Either they didn't read your post correctly or thought you were lying. There are so many people on here with an ED that I won't go anywhere near the Health forum. It's sickening. You are gaining because since you weren't able to eat anything for so long that your body is hording the calories (preservation mode). You may have to work your body up to about 2500 cals for a while for your body to recover before lowering it again to lose weight. You will gain weight at first but it should only be few lbs (not all of your 22 lost). Keep continuing to eat more cal dense foods and good luck on your journey! |

It shouldn't take 5 days to recover. You did too much! Try lowering your weight or reps. Something else you might try is to split your routine. I do upper body/back. Next day cardio. Third day, lower body/ abs. 4th, cardio. Repeat. Some hard core lifters might disagree but this works for me. I've been able to steadily increase my weights over the last two months. Another thing, are you warming up before lifting? It's important t at least do 5 minutes of cardio to warm up muscles before lifting. Don't let this rough start disuade you from lfting! Good luck and keep at it. |

| Fitness | Why do you workout? | Nov 30 2009 22:11 (UTC) |

Because I have to. I have hypothyroidism and restricting my eating just doesn't do it. I can eat 1200 and the scale won't budge but if I eat 1500-1800 and work out for half an hour then a pound a week happens. For me, dieting is 10% and working out is 90%. Go figure. |

| Weight Loss | Starving after increasing size of breakfast? | Nov 18 2009 23:12 (UTC) |

You're hungry because even if you are riding slow you are burning ~ 500 cals. So the ride there and back is putting you at 1000 deficit without taking into account any other daily activities. Please add more to your daily amount and definetely increase your breakfast. |

I did up the cardio this week but I also upped my cals. 1250 was just too low. I've averaged about 1500 this week and am very happy with the results. Hope everyone else is doing well also. SW 201.2 10/21 199.4 10/28 198.6 11/4 198.8 11/11 196.6 11/18 XGW 187 |

| Motivation | The BIOLOGY of losing weight. | Nov 16 2009 21:53 (UTC) |
|
Once you reach your goal weight you can NOT eat 1700 again. It will no longer be your maintenace amount. Less weight requires less cals to maintain. I'm sorry about your mother but people on Atkins don't just eat meat. They eat lots of fish, chicken and vegetables always and work their way up to nuts, olives, berries, whole grains, etc. Eating only meat is stupid but it's not Atkins. It's unfortunate that so many people hurt their bodies because they never read the book. Their are many people here on CC that eat at what maintenance would be if they were already at their goal weight. That way they lose weight and they don't really have to adjust much when they actually get there. |

| Weight Loss | So the end of the month is coming up... | Nov 16 2009 20:47 (UTC) |

If you've been dieting for quite some time then your body has gotten more efficient. dkenworthy is right. Try eating at your maintenance calories for a couple weeks, this should reset your metabolism. Then lower it again and see what happens. Eat the steak and leave the ice cream. Protein is GOOD. Make sure you are getting at least 60g and even more if you are lifting. Don't be discouraged. You've lost a fair abount of weight already. Good for you! Unfortunately weight loss is not always linear. |

| Weight Loss | Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really bugging me! | Nov 13 2009 00:01 (UTC) |

I probably assumes a loss of 1.5 pounds per week. Since you lost 1.25 it moved the day out accordingly. Don't worry about it but if it bugs you that much then update your start weight to what you are now and reset your goal date. Mine always moves out as I repeatedly fall short, ugh. |

You will have less muscle soreness if you do weights first and cardio after. Make sure you do a five minute warmup before lifting and always stretch. I do my stretching in between. You will be surprised at how much it helps. |

That's terrible! I bought my food scale a couple weeks ago and measuring in grams is way better than trying to measure in cups, etc. You've already lost a good amount, you're obviously doing the right things. Keep doing them and pay him no mind. Have you tried talking to him to find out why he is so unsupportive? Sometimes people don't understand that someone that's been overweight for a long time doesn't have the natural instinct of portion size. When I started measuring I was shocked. Don't let him get to you too bad but definately talk to him. Maybe he doesn't realize that he's hurting you. |

Yes! I know that getting there is half the battle with me. So I tell myself it's only 20 min. Anybody can workout for 20 min. It's nothing. Usually once I get moving I'm ok with it and work out for much longer. But if this still doesn't work why don't you try choreographing your own dance routine? You could burn lots and really tone with dancing. I've never seen a professional dancer that wasn't in great shape. |

I'd be a bit worried about comments like that. Not because of your weight, that's fine and I think you look great. But anyone that deliberately makes comments they know will bring you to tears is probably looking for your job. Sounds like they need more work to keep them busy ;) I'd be afraid of losing my job if I ever made a comment like that to my boss. The next time someone comments on a non-work related issue, you just say 'And how exactly does your comment relate to work?' I like this approach. Be strong! Don't let their hateful comments get to you. Everyone has personal issues whether they are visable or not. |
