Hi All, My dad passed away on Sunday, the 17th. My parents' 63rd anniversary was Monday. I felt guilty at first because I did ask Dad to try to make it for the 63rd. He answered, "I'm here for her. I'm always here for her." He was. I so appreciate all the kind words that have been sent--especially since I am so new here. Cantlose--You are amazing. I was glad that you shared your story. It made me realize that I had a real goodbye. Alylou--You are right. Helping others will help me. Now I am going to go quietly into denial for awhile. I have asthma and COPD--on top of other things. My breathing is shot right now. So I have to block out all the emotional stuff and deal with my health issues. Thank you again, DEB |

To All, I just returned from Hawaii and on Saturday, my siter called to tell me our dad's heart problems escalated to a hospice situation. My kids are all returning home to say their good-byes. I had mine yesterday, so I plan on using this day to show them how to grieve appropriately. He is 88 and dying of congestive heart failure--I have that now. I am his clone in almost every way and realize that I am looking at my future. It isn't pretty. I am not sure if I am posting correctly on here. If I am making mistakes, please let me know--gently. |

Hi All, What do you want to know about me? I am a back to work teacher. I just returned from visiting my son in Hawaii. I am married with one Aussie dog that is as lean as I want to be. I have two other grown children that also live away from me, the closest is in college, two hours away. I also have one stepson with health problems, lupus and diabetes. He lives an hour and a half away. The daughter is continually living far away doing civilian work for the military. She is in England next for the usual 3 month hitch. I have decided to purchase a full length mirror to help get the pounds off. Seeing is believing. I can be in denial over what I don't see. |

Hi there, I am a little over 50, but would like to join. I need to lose around 50 pounds. Also, I need another back surgery, actually neck surgery due to a car accident. I would like to get this weight off soon, but know that the surgery and immobility will make it difficult. debbrnot2b |

Guilty! So i am human, but I am back at it. I often go off on weekends, but I get back on it every Monday and stay on it throughout the week. It will take longer to come off, but hopefully will stay off. I shouldn't need extra pall bearers yet. |

Hey Goldtree, Heredity sucks--but we all have kids. Go figure. I know I have gained a little over 40 pounds since I began menopause. I have decided to start an inner change with the outer change--My hub loves food and I cook every night--except one each week. But I have decided to walk at least 5 times a week and to stick to it. We will see what happens. Deb |

Thanks for your answer. We have a similar problem with the blood pressure-- Yes, I am a teacher too--AP English and a lot of stress and no down time. I am learning how to do this though. Today I read how cucumbers are great for fiber and they add no calories to salads. I have learned that high fiber diets really help as well as low sodium foods. I am working through the diet to get off the meds--I have noticed that the meds slow me down and if I am down--I get bored and eat. I need to keep busy. I am walking 5 days of the week. On weekends I ease up on the diet and exercise. I realize that this is a lifestyle change--not a quick fix. It took many years to get this heavy, but if I work at it, it won't be so long to lose this weight. One other trick I learned about snacks is this--I have some low cal. crackers on hand and carrots to munch on. I have also learned to love V8 low sodium juice. I have also learned not to give up. If I fall off the wagon by eating at a wedding, it is o.k. I've learned not to wait until Monday to begin again. I am hoping I won't need extrra pallbearers at my funeral. LOL! |

| Weight Loss | Red Hatters!!! Are there enough of us to start our own group with our own unique problems? | Jun 16 2008 12:49 (UTC) |

A red hatter is someone over 50. We are either going through the change or we have already changed. Hormones present all kinds of unique problems regarding health, energy levels, and weight related problems. The 40's group wears a pink hat and lilac. Over 50's wear red hats and purple. All this is based on a poem called "Warning." |

Hi! I am new as of today. I want to lose 50 pounds. I am a female in menopause and the docs messed up my previously o.k. metabolism with meds to help the effects of the pause that never ends. Any advice from anyone who has been there. Yes, Gusy, you have gf's who may know of some answers too. |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
