Yes!  I'm at 181.5....ugh!  Up from 160 a year ago.  Of course I'd get 'back on the wagon' right before the holidays...but it has to happen if I want to fit into all my cold-weather clothes!  I refuse to buy anything new in a bigger size!

TUE AUG 19: List your 5 favorite 100 calorie (or less) snacks!

I love sugar free popsicles...but I've eaten them so much over the summer!

I like the itty bitty Hostess carrot cake with cream cheese cupcakes - 100 calorie pack...you get about one bite per little cupcake, but still so good for a sugar fix.

Laughing cow cheese wedges.

Baby carrots.

Any piece of fruit.

Roasted red pepper and tomato soup from Trader Joe's and grilled cheese!  100 calories per cup of soup, and under 200 calories for the grilled cheese if you use the Sara Lee 45 calorie/slice bread and fat free cheese.  Still SOOOOOOOOO yummy!  Soup and grilled cheese is one of my all-time favorites!

Ha!  I couldn't even remember what my goals were for yesterday!  But...I did every single one of them!  I think the best one was the NOT COMPLAINING goal....I felt SO much happier with that one.

Today I want to:

Take the kids to the pool.

Go for a walk.

Continue to NOT COMPLAIN.

Oh...it is Monday.  What should my goals for today be?

1) Keep calories at 1200

2) Eat salad and LIKE it

3) Work on NOT complaining and having a better attitude!

4) Take the kids swimming.

5) Register Mo for after school care.

I am down to 168.  I have been doing CC for about 7 weeks now and have lost a total of 14 pounds.  It's great, but my weight loss has really slowed down over the last two weeks or so.  My calories have remained the same and I even started walking more.  And I still have 20 pounds to go!  Oh well.  I guess slow and steady wins the race, huh?  Happy Friday everyone!!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

Last week I weighed 169 and this week I'm at 168, so I have lost one pound!  When I first started CC, I was losing around 2 pounds a week...and now I've slowed down to about 1/2 to 1 pound a week...calories have been the same and I actually started walking more.  Hmmmmm...oh well, I'll take 1/2 pound loss any day over not losing anything at all!

And having my clothes fit better and people noticing that I've lost weight...very nice!

20 pounds total to go to my Goal Weight of 148....

I work for the school district - I'm a Staff Secretary (please note the I capitalized BOTH of those words but refrained from using the word "Extraordinaire"!).  I work mostly in Special Education and it's a huge deal, especially with California's budget crisis.  We are all in some sort of crisis!

I like the job, LOVE the people I work for/with.  Education is such a great environment to work around.  Sadly, I mostly sit at a desk....

Bonsfam - what papers in Sacramento?  I live just 30 miles up 80 in Auburn...

I hate all the smoke.  In my situation, the people living in the apartment next to mine AND below mine both smoke.  In the evenings, I like to open my doors for the fresh, cool air.  For the last several evenings, I have to go outside and 'ever-so-politely' tell my neighbors that their cigarette smoke is blowing right into my apartment.  SO GROSS!  Is it possible to be allergic to cigarette smoke?  It makes me sick.

How do you fight something like that?  They are out smoking on their balcony, but it is coming right into my house.

Ugh.  Only 1/2 pound loss for last week.  Still...better than nothing, right??

Does anyone else have a funky scale, where, depending on where and how you stand on it, it weighs you differently?  (Like leaning forward, I'm 1-2 pounds heavier and leaning backward, I'm 1-2 pounds lighter?)  I try standing right in the middle every time, but it's difficult to know if I'm getting an accurate reading.  I just want a consistent reading!!

Since I started with this group late, I didn't really set any goals.  But...I have been trying to walk extra at least 4 times a week.  Which is more than I was doing and I suppose it could be considered 'kicking it up a notch'.  I know it is going to be more and more difficult to drop the pounds and get the fat in my thighs to move away!!

Well, yesterday was a success regarding my goals.  The 'drink more water' part was difficult because more water = more trips to the bathroom.  I dislike having to pee every 10 minutes, but I guess that was the point of flushing all the salt out, right?

For Wicked Wednesday:

1) Today, I'm planning on walking at the track again.  Last time, we did 2 miles in 30 minutes.  We had been aiming for 10 laps (which is 2 1/2 miles) but someone had to go to the bathroom, so we had to cut our walk short.  Tonight, I'd like to do the full 2 1/2 miles, at a good pace, maybe jogging part of it.  Ha!  I need to work up to this jogging thing!

2) Also, need to keep calories during the day a bit on the conservative side because dinner will be steak, baked potato and salad.  I will be light on the steak, heavy on the salad!

I accomplished half of my goal for Monday.  I did walk for half an hour.  For my calories, I decided there might be something in the suggestion to NOT eat at only 1200 calories, so I increased it to around 1300 and felt good about it.  So, I guess I could say I accomplished all my goal for Monday.

Goal for Tuesday is to keep calories around 1300 (give or take a few).

Also, I'm going to make an effort to drink a lot of water today, because my dinner last night was a bit high in sodium, so I'd like to flush that out.

Okay, I have never been a hugely goal-oriented person.  Ever.  But I've always wanted to try.  So, here goes.

Goal for Monday:

Keep calories at 1200.

Walk for 30 minutes.

Not very lofty goals, but you've got to start somewhere, right?

Ketchup.  It is the perfect way to accessorize your french fries!  Although, I have tried french fries with mayo and found that to be quite tasty.  Is that a German thing?  Mayo on your french fries?  And thick cut fries with malt vinegar....mmmm.  OKay...I MUST stop obsessing over french fries!!!  :)  Sorry...lost myself there for a moment, but darn, I miss those fries.

I actually stopped at a yard sale yesterday.  It wasn't in my 'plan' but there was a foreclosure sale going on down the street from my son's house.  I found a breadmaker - identical to one I had owned and previously gotten rid of at one of MY yard sales several years ago.  And I bought it because I want to try my hand at making my own healthy fiber-ful bread!

I struggled through this weekend with eating because I spent a lot of time with my son (who is 14 and SOOOOOO interested in food!)  He is hungry every time I turn around.  How does everyone else balance cooking in moderation for themselves and meeting the needs and desires of everyone else's hunger in their family??  It is so difficult for me to cook up raviolli and sauce for everyone else, and then just eat the salad for myself!  Is it sheer will power?  Ugh!

Mmmmm....ice cream, hands down!  And I adore the mochi from Trader Joe's.  But, given the current calorie counting situation, I'm loving the sugar free popsicles.  I need to go to the store tonight, so I'm going to go for some variety and try some of the low fat/low cal fudgesicles.

Mrsblackhawk - I'd love to know how you make oven baked onion rings. Can you share with us your recipe?

It is SO easy!  You get a big sweet onion, like Walla Walla or Vidalia, slice it into rings, dip in egg whites/better than egg, dip in bread crumbs (I used progresso) and bake for about 20 minutes at 350.  The onions are sweet and flavorful and you get some crunch from the bread crumbs.  I think the worst part of the whole thing are the bread crumbs (at 110 or 120 calories per quarter cup)

Zucchini from a friend's garden, salad (lettuce/veggie mix), carrots, celery.  Do home-made baked onion rings made out of sweet onion count as a veggie?  Yep...I'm gonna count it!

Okay, so I'm a bit bigger at 5'8" and I weighed in at 172 this morning. (a day late, but better late than never!).  I started with cc a month ago and I weighed 182...so I'm very excited about my 10 pound loss!  Your posts inspired me to take my measurements.  I had thought about doing it before, but I just hadn't gotten to it.  So, this morning, this is what I got:

chest:  39 1/2

waist:  33

hips:  40.5

thigh:  24

I'm totally grossed out by my thighs.  Definitely an area to address. Ugh.

Would sushi be considered 'ethnic'?  Because I'm going through a sushi phase at the moment.  But....seeing the 'thai' response, makes me think I haven't had good curry in a while.  The only thing about thai....I LOVE the thai iced tea!  And the half-and-half and sugar involved....ugh!

Congrats on the 'tomorrow', Molly.  I was once so eager to see my hubby (after doing a deployment to Afghanistan) that I flew to Baltimore where their military flight was coming in and greeted him there!

WEDNESDAY JULY 9 -- QUESTION OF THE DAY

(It's going to be 112+ here today, we're having a heat wave)

What do you do to stay cool in the summer?

MOLLY

I think we must be not too far away from each other, because I'm in the same heat wave!  Only thing is, I've got ALL the nasty smoke to deal with as well.  Air quality is SO bad here that the air sensors are clogged. Staying cool isn't too difficult for me, because I love being in the warm.  But...today I'll stay inside (AC for filtering the air, not so much the cold!) and have popsicles (sugar free, 15 calories each!)
