If you increased your fibre intake from 3g a day to 25-30g a day real fast, yeah you are messing with your digestive tract and obviously getting gassy. Take it easy. |

Abs Diet Power book and following Abs Diet on Men's Health. It's not even a diet really, it basically tells you to cut the crap - modified carbs, anything that comes in bags and boxes. Eat clean and you will lose body fat and reveal your abs. Love it. No Calorie counting needed, eat intuitively, sustainable lifelong habits. Highly reccomend. |

| Weight Loss | I gained a pound!!! But, I did the right stuff, I don't understand!! | Feb 15 2009 16:52 (UTC) |

maybe you need to shock your body a bit and zig zag your calories. have one day where you eat like 20% more calories than normal to keep your body guessing. not sure if WW allows this. but what has worked for me in the past is alternating calories 1400/1600 and then having a 2100 calorie day on the weekend. I'll usually end up losing a lb after that high calorie day.
good luck |

| Fitness | No idea what i'm doing. Where do I begin? | Feb 15 2009 16:49 (UTC) |

if you aren't grunting and begging for quits by the 8th rep, your weight isn't high enough. you should go for 2 sets of 8-12 reps until you can move on to the next level. avoid machines as they only work one isolated muscle. focus on compound movements that will work several muscles at once. lifting from 45-60 minutes is stupid - if you can lift for that long you are being inefficient and not working hard enough and getting the most out of your workout. you should be going hard for 20-35 minutes, with very little rest in between, for maximum effectiveness. I like going through Men's Health for moves with dumbells. I also like to do full body workouts instead of working chest, arms and legs separately good luck! |

just a few thoughts that always link to my breakouts - sleeping with makeup on - eating overly processed foods and not drinking enough water - drinking soda or red bulls - oils from pillowcase/blankets probably not collectively exhaustive but hopefully can help you drill down to the root |

day 1 has been pretty good..i stopped eating around 730 PM but i still have this nasty habit where the minute i get into my condo after work, i have to start eating. i literally drop my work bag in my room, get in teh kitchen and eat standing whatever is in the fridge. i made my way through like 1/2 a cup of chicken, a banana, a handful of grapes, 1/2 cup of a green smoothie, 1 handful of goji berries and then some chocolate mint squares. i might have had a spoonful of ice cream..i don't remember (thats how bad it is) im too annoyed t count calories these days after doing it religiously for awhile -- i think it's becaue school is starting and there is no way i'm going to be a stickler and keep track of all the numbers so i better start making my eating intuitive. idk..amybe its time to go back to counting..i was doing well at eating 1500 / burning 2300. i lost like 1.5 lbs in a day doing that !!! anyways i did manage to get in some cardio intervals tonite despite stil being sick. its nearing midnite and im enjoying my vanilla chamomile tea, clay face mask, and doing a much needed load of laundry and im binge free. just taking it one day at a time ... loseweight1234 -- love this thread and i love the articles /tips you post up!! so helpful and always look forward to them |

hi meg, now is a good time to pick up some workout gear as a lot of stuff is on clearance. first off you will want to invest in a sports bra -- do not skimp on this one. if you are looking into tops -- i reccomend adidas climacool. their tennis line is great for cardio, very stylish and wicks the sweat right off of you. i have tended to stay awa from reebok and champion (fits wierd on me aka clings to my fat!!! ) lines for runners. bottoms -- just get any pair of spandex shorts, they wll stay out of your way. i am thinking of getting me some under armour but i think that's just because i love their commercials so much hahha i can't reccomend stores per se as i am in canada. i've gotten stuff from the nike and adidas stores as well as lululemon and running room. another good bet is to check out the athletic wear of a department store, you will find all the brands in one place and probably on sale too. hope this helps!! |
