Health & Support amenorrhea Jul 22 2008

Just to throw this out there for you, when I took physiology I remember the professor talking about amenorrhea.  She said that women need to have a period at least once every nine months, if I remember correctly she said that when this doesn't happen the risk of uterine cancer increases.  I can't remember exactly why it happens.  But I thought I would let you know that this could turn into a very serious situation for you.

I know that you don't want to gain weight, but it sounds like in your heart of hearts you know thats what you need.  You are really going to have to talk to someone at very least.  Good luck to you!  I hope that you find the strength to do the right thing.

I am 5'9" and weigh 198 my goal is 150-155, I don't know that I would go any smaller than this.  I naturally have an athletic type build thanks to my good German stock so much smaller than this I would look like a walking skeleton.

So it sounds like for the most part everyone is doing great, and that in and of itself is great!!

I had a pretty good week this week, I didn't make it to the gym buy I did make it to the track to run.  I made some peer pressure choices about food, but even those weren't that bad I just watched my portions.  I have been having some very weird bloating issues all week, not sure what that is about because I've been drinking my than my usual water (it's really hot here).

LWW: 199

CW: 198, one pound but hey I will totally take it (maybe it was more because I am still retaining some water, my wedding ring is super tight)

Everyone have a great weekend and try to make good choices, keep up the great work!!!

Olivia77:  I don't think I am doing anything particuarlly special to lose.  I am pretty strict about counting my calories, it usually try to keep it between 1250-1600 sometimes I go over but I never go under 1250.  I go to the gym 4-5 days a week and do about 30-60 minutes of cardio then I do my weights for about 30-45 more minutes.  On the days that I only do 30 minutes of cardio I go to the track at the local high school and run with my hubby.  I usually get in just under 2 miles plus I do bleachers, lunges, and my ab workout (abs are killer on the bleachers!!)  On the days I can't get to the gym I either go walk for at least an hour, or I do strength training stuff around the house.

The last 2 days though I have been retaining massive amounts of water, damn the heat!  I am drinking so much water everday to counteract that I am up all night peeing...LOL!  Hopefully this whole situation end soon.

Janeiro: I really do try to be more healthy when I am in school, but I only have so much time in the day.  My schedule is very hectic and this semester that I will be starting is the most hectic by far.  My husband works about 100 miles away from home and he works 12 hours shifts so the 3 (sometimes 4 or 5) days a week that he works I have to do everything around the house by myself.  And it just so happens that the days that he goes to work are the days that I go to school, so that I means I have to get up 1 hour early to get my 2 kids ready to go, get them fed, and get my school stuff together.  Then I have to drive them across town to family's house so I can go to school.  I go to school 4 hours on Monday and Wednesday and on Tuesday I do a 12 hour shift at the hospital.  We have tests every week on Fridays (there are a couple of weeks that we are luck and have a test every other week).  On these tests there can be as many as 20 chapters, and the only days I have to study are days that my hubby is not home (which doesn't always work out that well with 2 little kids running around).  In addition to that we have to organize a leadership project and we have many other things that have to been done.  I really want to keep up but time is not on my side.  I have already started trying to plan out how I can keep working out, I am not that worried about the eating part (well maybe a little, the holidays are always my enemy..LOL).  I just feel like working out is such a crucial part of my weight loss and even more so my health and well being.  I am hoping that keep in touch with you guys will keep me on the right track!

Oliva77: Thank you for your encouragement!!  I am going to try to have will power of stone once I get back to school. Hopefully my new healthy habits will be just that habits and I won't think any different of it.  I am so waiting for that point where the weight just falls off, I know I am doing fine (so far) but there is that little nagging voice in the back of my head that keeps saying "Holy crap that's all I've lost!!!"  But in reality I have lost 11 pounds since June 6th so that's like 2.2 lbs per week.  Geeezzz I am such an immediate gratification type of person.  I know that if I can keep logging onto CC I will be able to do it.  BTW you too had a great weekend!

I always wanted to be a mom.  Then I had my kids and they are sooooo great sometimes, then there are other days when I am trying to figue out how to put them back..LOL!  But really, not everyone is meant to have children and for heavens sake you are only 17 you have FOREVER to decide.  I had kids young, so my advice to you is be young, be single, do everything you want to do for yourself first, then have kids.  Because once you have them you start to come last!

And you give me yet another reason to be a starbucks junkie!!  LOL.  Those drinks do sound great, I may have to get one next time I am out.

So my weekend went pretty well.  I didn't get to the gym, but I walked about 4 miles on saturday with my son (in the stroller) and the dog.  I stayed under calories all weekend, SOOOO glad that I was able to resist temptation!  Only problem is that it has been so hot and humid that I am retaining water like crazy and I have drank so much water to counteract the effects that I feel like I am going to float away.

Still counting down the days until school starts back up, I am so ready but worried that I will fall right back into my bad eating habits and lack of exercise.  Hopefully not, I guess only time will tell.

Costume possibilities hmmm probably something funny like trailer park barbie or my hubby and I were thinking about dressing up like characters from Reno 911.  He would be Terry and I would dress up like Weigle (the episode were she was a stripper, yeah and still in her granny panties...LOL!!  AHHH I love it)

So I totally missed the introduce ourselves part.  I am 25, I am a mom to 2 kids, a 6 year old girl and a 21 month old boy.  I have a very, very wonderful husband (he really is my BEST friend).  I am a nursing student, I will be graduation in December WOOOHOO!!!  In life I am very loyal, outgoing, loud, and funny (at least I like to think so).  I have many TMI moments, I think my internal filter is broken!  I love my family, I love to be outdoors and that is pretty much me in a nutshell.

kim79my first I want to say YAH!!! to you for being brave enough to put up your pics!  So I just looked at them and it is not bad at all, I did notice that you are just like me in that you can put clothes on a fool the pant off of everybody about what it under there!  Honestly you look great, and in a few more pounds you are going to be on hot momma...lol!

Thank you everyone for all the very sweet and encouraging posts!  It seems to mean so much more when strangers can say something nice to you as opposed to when it is people you know.  I look at my pictures almost everyday now and I just don't want to look like that anymore!  The last baby I had was pretty big a 9 pounder and he just made me hungry all of the time not to mention the havoc that he wreaked upon my belly...BLAH!  Oh well stretch marks are kind of like battle scars, little reminders of where you have come from!  Good luck to everyone, keep up the hard work!

First I want to tell you that you have a beautiful body, cerainly nothing to be ashamed of.

Second, I think that you may want to look into talking with a counselor or a psychologist, or maybe even joining a support group for BDD (Body Dismorphic Disorder).  I say this because the way you look to everyone else, and the very conflicting opinion you have about your body sends up red flags for me!  This is a disorder that can take over your life, you should try doing a google search about it and read somethings about it.  If you can see the traits in yourself then I really urge you to get help.  You really have nothing to feel down about you are beautiful.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with In n Out, it's a burger chain we have here in California. Well they have double doubles (which are delicious by the way) it's 2 patties on a bun with lettuce and tomato and you can order it animal style where is comes with grilled onions, melted cheese, and their secret sauce (its kind of like 1000 island).  The offer these burgers protein style and wrap them in lettuce instead of the bun.  Well I had a girlfriend (who really needed to lose weight) that was on a "low carb diet", and to her part of that diet was 2 of these double-doubles protien style for lunch...WTF. What kind of diet is that!!  She had convinced herself that as long as she wasn't eating the bun it was alright...LOL!

How about deep fried pickles...mmmmm soooooo goooood, but oh so bad!!

Ok kim79my and ka2007 I am going to challenge you two to put up your pics, if I can do it you can do it to.  It is a huge blast to the ego, but I know I will be working hard to get some progress pics up there!!

kim79my: how in the world have you lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks, that is crazy!  I've been at it for like 3 ish weeks too and I've managed about 5 pounds (which is nothing to scoff at, because just those few pounds have made me feel better!).  I was just wondering what your secret has been so far.  I am getting ready to go back to school in 7 weeks and this is my last semester (also the most stressful) so I want to maximize my weight loss while I am still on summer break.  School immediately puts like 10 stress pounds on me and my eating habits usually go in the toilet and you can just forget about exercise.  I am going to really, really try to make a change this semester.  Damn my skinny friends and their bad influences on me...LOL!

Health & Support Dad diagnosed with skin cancer.. should I be worried? Jul 09 2008

Melanoma is a very aggressive cancer.  The survival rate is very favorable if it is caught early.  Don't get too down just yet.  My uncle was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma (that basically means you are about to die) and the doc gave him 6 months to live.  The doc actually told him to go home and get his affairs in order because he WAS going to die, as if the doc was god. Well this was when my uncle was 19 and he is now 40.  Moral of the story, the doc doesn't know everything.  Make sure you and your family stay positive, in my experience attitude has a lot to do with the outcome.  If your dad has a very strong will to beat this he may very well do that, just don't let him give up the fight.  My thoughts are with you...I know what you are going through, let me know if you need any support getting through this cuz I will be there for you.

I have something for you that my mom swears works just for this.  It's an exercise that she calls "baby birds".  What you do is look straight up at the celing or sky and you move your bottom jaw up and down (like a baby bird asking to be fed...LOL) you really can feel it work these muscles.  I personally don't know if it works, but momma says it does so I guess it is worth a try!

Seriously I think that cc is the best thing that could have happened to me!  Everyone here is so supportive that it is unbelievable!!!!  It really makes you realize that you REALLY aren't alone, there is always someone out there that feels the same way you feel and can totally relate to your situation.

Doogloose: you just gave me so much motivation to keep going for a few more weeks and see what the difference is.  Ya know you see yourself everyday so the changes aren't so obvious when you are just looking in the mirror so the pics may help...I hope...LOL!

Paintedlady:  I feel you I really do. I look at pictures of myself and I think "Holy God, who is that!" It totally doesn't look like the me I see in the mirror everyday.  And it is so true that no matter how cute you try to look in your pics you wind up looking all crazy and not like you...LOL.  It's kind of funny really.

I make pizzas  on low cal tortillas, top them with whatever type of marinara I have on hand, I sprinkle it wit fat free or reduced fat cheese, and I found turkey pepperoni (I think its like 70 calories per serving).  I bake it in the oven.  The tortilla crisps up so nicely and I get a pepperoni fix...LOL.  I have no clue how many calories this is but it can't be too many.
