Thanks for the advice everyone!  I will try to drink more water, good idea.  I actually weighed a pound less when I stepped on the scale today. Holla! Hopefully that lb won't be back tomorrow!  But I'll just keep at it though, and I'm glad to hear that other people have gone through the same thing in the beginning.

Hi nicolewolf!

I would check out any of the Moosewood cookbooks (if you are also counting calories, the "low fat favorites" cookbook has a lot of low-calorie recipes).  The cookbooks are mostly vegetarian, but also have a section about fish.  The recipes are pretty easy, but also incredibly varied and healthy.  One thing I experienced at first was being hungrier, because feeling "full" takes a little more work when you're not eating meat.  It's easy when vegetarian to not eat a balanced meals, but instead to fill up on chips and pizza (that was my big problem, anyway).  If you take the time to make sure you're getting enough protein actual vegetables, you won't be hungry all of the and making the switch will be so much easier.  If you're looking to make really delicious, but also very time-consuming and always low-fat/calorie meals, another cookbook to check out is "Veganomicon".  I hope that  helps and good luck!

I'm 29 and 5'10" and currently 184.   I recently went back to school and started taking the birth control pill, so in the past 2 years I have gained around 25 lbs.  I've started doing calorie counter and exercising 5 to 6 times a week, cardio and weight training 1/2 hour to an hour a day (I freelance right now so I can fit it in).  It's been about 2 weeks so far I have not seen ANY results.  I'm currently on 1,500 calories a day.   How many calories are you other tall ladies on?

I'd pick the first one, it sounds very low in fat!
