It doesn't take much to mess up my knees, but the step machine does hurt my knees if I use it to much. If I don't go on everyday then it's fine. I go on once every two days. But it may not hurt you, it's just my knees and feet aren't straight, they face outwards more then usuall.
As far as sweating goes, then yes I realized that the step machine works up a sweat more then some other cardio-exercises.
I hope that helped :)

Please go see your doctor.  I have a condition in my knees that started this way in my early 20s. As a result, step machines hurt my knees along with deep squats.  Essentially my knee caps are pulled out of alignment by the exterior quads being so strong and the interior much weaker.  It took several years of being aware and stretching and some physical therapy to make them feel better and I still have at least one more complete round of physical therapy to schedule.  This is something you can probably get taken care of in the early stages without too much of a problem.

I have, and the doctor said it might be juvenile arthritis so he sent me in for x-rays and he never gave me back the results. I don't think it is juvenile arthritis though, it's something else for sure. We're STILL waiting and it's been months. He's a really crappy doctor. I still do exercise I just have to stretch for a long lenth of time.

Well I don't know how many calories it took my body to recover. I binged my way. Some kid on the bus called me fat and I was panicky all day and from that day on I binged. I used to eat nothing for days but then for like 2 months I eat catastrophic amounts of food. I slowly downed my calories so that it wasn't like 4000 straight down to 1000. I worded that carefully by saying "my body has fully recovered" because I agree my mind is still hasn't completely. Yes of coarse there will be a day where I won't drop anymore. By I'm not going to venture that far to find out. I don't want to go down to a really low weight again.

I have had an eating disorder a while back and I know the signs. Right now I'm not talking about eating disorders I’m just talking about starvation mode. My body has fully recovered. I'm a huge raw food advocate and try to get a lot of my nutrients from raw foods because I know how much better for you it is. I life a fairly healthy lifestyle. Isn't it possible that my body is not or will not go into starvation mode?

I love orange spice. Chamomile apple tea is great when you want to relaxe or drink before bed to feel more drowsy. Mint tea is delicious and zesty and is good for the digestive system as well. I love the taste and smell of vanilla, but not in teas. It's rarely done well. White tea is soo good, I've only had it once but I love loved it.
Those are a couple of my favourites :)

I'm not trying to argue with this site, I just want to know what's going on and what may or may not happen to me.

That's exactly how I know that I'm not in starvation mode. There's been days before where I wouldn't exercise and would eat normally and I wouldn't gain a pound. I just wouldn't loose. Same with my lazy days, where I take a couple days off. Once I was sick for a whole week and I eat regularly and I did gain like a pound or two because I hadn't even walked, but I lost it quickly.

I used to be underweight but then I started binging. It was terrible, what your saying was exactly how I felt. It went on for a really long time. Now, I really don't mean to sound discouraging but it did take time to get over it. To be honestly I started making a change when one day I woke up and cried for god knows how long. What did help was not just cleaning up my food habits but my life. I cleaned everything, physical and emotional. I just had to take a break and sort things out. Some people may need professional help, but somehow I got over it completely on my own. I may not have had it as bad as you do, no one can really say, but you have to trust that things will get better. Maybe it will go away on it's own, maybe you'll need professional help, but trust.
I really don't know if that helps. I do truly wish the best.

Jogging is great but I absolutely just love to swim. Also, if you have access to a trampoline you have to try it. I love to bike, dance like an idiot to music, and defiantly kayak! Canoes are fun to but kayaking you can just paddle off to wherever you want. I look at those as fun more then exercise.

Young Calorie Counters At what time did you start to notice your weight? Jul 09 2008

In grade 8. I didn't even know what skinny or fat was. I was like all innocent or something, I didn't even know what drugs or popularity was. Then I made friends with a bulimic/ ex-anorexic. She weighed less then me and was always complaining on how fat she was. The strange thing is, she made puking sound all glamorous. All the girls thought she was so pretty, and so I asked her to be my jogging buddy so I could loose weight. And so it began.

Wow that’s weird, I always tell people about my dreams of eating meat. Except for me it’s a nightmare. Those are my nightmares, seems pretty sad but I yell and wake up . I never mean to eat the meat, I never want to. It’s always an accident.

Why is that for some people it's just another dream and for others it's a terrible nightmare?

Try not to be to worried about talking to your doctor. He is trained to deal with stuff like this, he won't judge you. It really comes down to if you feel like you need your parents to go through this with you. Personally I would go to the doctor first and if I really felt like I needed my parents than I would tell them. You wouldn't be ruining their lives, they love you. Their first priority would be to help you.

Support does help a lot going through tough problems like this. Like i-luv-edward said, you can always have support from people online as well.

Whatever you choose to do I hope it really does helps you.

The answer is...do what makes you happy! Find time to have a bubble bath with essential oils. Burn some incense and read a book. Do whatever makes you truly feel good inside. If you're happy then you probably wont dive for those double chocolate chip cookies. I don't know if that helps you but when I do remember this it does help me. Good luck.

I think Sunday is great as a weigh in day.

As far as you binge eating goes I have the exact same problem. Mine is really strange because it happens only on Sundays or Mondays. I'm thinking that maybe we should have some kind of support system where if we feel like you're about to binge or if you have just started then go on here and talk to one of us or post a reply. And don't start binging until you have a reply. I come on at least once a day so I can defiantly reply. I think it could work. It's just a suggestion.

I'm still 15. I know that I will grow out of it, never the less it still makes me a little upset. I never yell or anything because I know that would be really confusing to my mom who’s only trying to support me. I just feel like sometimes I think I just let my pride get in the way or something and I just want to say "go away I can do this on my own" and stick my nose up in the air. It’s bad, I know, but now when I go out to exercise I time it so that my mom isn’t around. I feel terrible that it does bother me though because I know that she's just trying to be supportive and I know that there are some people out there who don't have as much support as they would like. I'm sorry I'm just blabbing now.. But keep up the good work, I can’t believe the change. When you get down to 180 pounds you should let us know. I know I would be interested to know. Thanks. :D

That whole thing about in high school when you were trying to loose weight and your parents would encourage you...that was (and I admit still is) a lot like me. I think my favourite thing about this story is that it shows that if you don't give up you can turn out stronger. And I don't think that just applies to weight loss. That's what I got out of it. And that have gone through an amazing journey and I want to say thank you so much for sharing what you've gone through with all of us.

I have this strange problem where if I don't feel good about my weight then I don't care about anything else. I don't care about makeup, jewellery, clothes or new hair do's. The funny thing is I'm not the only one. Yes, I do go a lot overboard with the whole I don't care about anything (I have to remind myself omg it's not the end of the world Amy). But I'm slowly getting out of it because it's like why am I doing that? Does it make me any skinnier? Is it making me feel any better? No. So I think go for it and flaunt those new silver earrings. Honestly, take a look at everyone around you...we're all so freakin beautiful. I know so cliché but there's a reason it's said a lot. I sure do blab on...

When I absolutely can’t stop myself and those baby carrots just aren’t do it for me then I bake something really healthy. That way it takes your mind of binging on cookies because you really have to focus, and when your done your urge may have gone away. Plus, for me it’s very relaxing and seeing the great outcome makes you feel good inside.

Just a suggestion. Good luck.
