| Weight Loss | She lost that weight how??? | Aug 22 2009 20:15 (UTC) |

She doesn't look skinny fat and untoned to me. She looks human, like a mother of two children who is getting her body back. Her arms have definition, but what? She has some cellulite on her backside? Or do you say skinny fat because she has curves? She may be lying about how she did it or she may have really done it that way, IDK. But I don't see skinny fat and I am NOT a Britney fan. If I stepped out of the house and looked as good as she does in a tiny bikini, I'd be thrilled. She looks great. |

| Weight Loss | Why is it that people who've had gastric bypass don't suffer starvation mode? | Feb 24 2009 02:35 (UTC) |

Good question. I wonder this everytime people get into this starvation mode talk. Sorry, no answer for you. I just wanted to say you're not alone in wondering this. ;-) |

I've tried it. It's full of "natural" caffeine so it made me jittery and made my heart race. Even when I took the afternoon dose early I slept very poorly @ night. I was afraid to exercise with my heart already racing while at rest, I thought I'd have a heart attack if I exercised with it. I did walk the trail after taking it, but that was about it for exercise. I really didn't see any impact on my weight loss. It does suppress your appetite somewhat and it does give you energy. Unfortunately for me it was very nervous jittery scary energy. I think you'll be fine without it. |

Thanks for posting. I think starvation mode is a totally overused term here. I know it's possible to wreck your metabolism but it doesn't happen overnight as some posters tell others. |

I'm not sure what weight charts people are looking at, but for a 15 year old the adult charts are NOT appropriate. Use this weight calculator and you will see where her doctor got this weight. http://kidshealth.org/teen/food_fitness/dieti ng/weight_height.html My daughter is 13, 5'3 and 95lbs- no hx of an eating disorder whatsoever- and that chart states that she is in the 19th percentile and at a healthy weight. She plays basketball BTW- so that squashes the whole DON'T EXERCISE at that weight thing. I know this young lady is recovering from an ED, but she needs to continue to listen to the doctor and not well meaning posters- myself included Please, when you're advising someone who needs help, make sure you have your facts straight. OP- listen to your doc!!! |

| Weight Loss | Ok How is everyone going to handle Thanksgiving holiday next week? | Nov 24 2008 14:43 (UTC) |
30 |
My plan is, since TG dinner is at grandma's house, to do my best to be absolutely perfect up until TG day. On that day, during dinner, I plan to eat any and everything I want. For that meal only. I don't plan to take leftovers home and I'm not cooking anything at home 'just to have some leftovers'. That one meal won't kill me, it never does. It's the overindulgence that lasts from Thanksgiving until New Years that does it and that won't be happening. It helps that I'm a teacher and instead of going to work everyday with people bringing in all kinds of stuff to eat, most of the holidays are spent safely at home. :) I don't plan to CC one single bit on TG day. |

I'm an 8th grade English/Language Arts teacher. We have been back in school since 8/4. I found that once school started, my weight loss stalled. During the summer, I walked religiously outdoors daily with my dog and never cheated on my calories more than twice. When school began a group of teachers and I started walking right after school around the hallways (very fast walking) however, I haven't lost another ounce. I know that I haven't been eating AS healthy as I had during the summer. There are a lot of cookies, cakes, candy and STUFF around all the time. I don't get crazy but I have had more sugar than I'd had in months. No weight gain, thank goodness, but no loss. I'm 5'7", my starting weight was 166.6, I'm currently 156. I want to get down to 145. |

HI! I teach 8th grade English/Language Arts. I only started CC after school let out in June as well. Just like 'tired' above, I have the EXACT same issues. I have the same plan. I'm planning to take my own snacks, my own lunch. I'm going to have to AVOID the planning period chocolate. I'm going to have to get used to not drinking my water like I've gotten used to over the summer. Bathroom breaks are precious few. I think it'll work out though, I'm not too worried about messing up. We actually start back tomorrow. 7/28. I'll have a trial run this week. The kids come back next Monday, 8/4. |

| Weight Loss | Guess how much I gained yesterday | Jul 21 2008 00:07 (UTC) |

Hah! I knew it! I figured if you'd gained anything it was water from sodium. I don't think one binge day causes true weight gain, just as one dieting day doesn't cause true weight loss. |

| Weight Loss | Curious how you log "bites" and going out to eat... | Jul 20 2008 20:47 (UTC) |
4 |
I do exactly the same as the CCers above. I log every bite that I consume less than the serving size in decimal form. Like dragonpride I tend to log over than under. I'd rather overestimate what I've eaten than underestimate. As for the broiled haddock, I'd log it just the way you did. I log what I think is closest to what I had. If I thought that the way mine was cooked added a few more calories than what is listed, I up the serving size by a fraction to add a few more calories on my CC. |

From what I understand calories are calories regardless of where they come from. If you eat too many CALORIES and don't burn enough, you'll gain weight. |

Thursday's weigh in for 7/17 SW: 166 7/10: 159 7/17: 158 GW: 147 I've crept slowly but surely out of the overweight category into the high normal BMI category. That was one goal. Now the next goal is to get down to my goal weight. After that, lots of toning for sure. I hope everyone had a successful week. Hope everyone is doing great! |

| Foods | did you know smoothies are bad for you? | Jul 12 2008 16:31 (UTC) |
20 |
IMO, if you eat or drink anything and don't take into consideration the amount of calories, not sugar but calories, it has in it you'll gain weight. This sounds like it was geared toward someone who drinks a smoothie thinking that it is low cal or something without taking the ingredients into consideration. When I make a smoothie, I take the ingredients and log them in seperately on my log so I know exactly what I'm getting in my smoothie. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but a calorie is a calorie. Whether it comes from fruits, veggies, french fries or butter. Sooo, overindulgence in any of those things can cause weight gain. Some calories come from healthier sources, but in the long run, isn't a calorie is a calorie is a calorie???? |

| Foods | I have the absolute WORST craving.... What is your weakness? | Jul 10 2008 22:20 (UTC) |

I love and crave rice, any kind, served any style, rice, lots of it. Today I've had an insane craving for chocolate cake and a really high fat, high sugar coffee like something decadent from starbucks. I can sit and actually taste it in my mind. I also love Fruity Pebbles!! I haven't had any in so long I can't even remember, but if I start I can eat the whole box in 2 days. I also LOVE sushi and crave it often. I don't want any of the riceless kind, gotta have rice on my sushi!! Cuz I LOVE rice!

No help from me here, but I just wanted you to know, I feel your pain. Sometimes I'll just go ahead and log the CC value to give myself some cushion but when it's way off, I log it manually. I hope someone has the answer. Maybe the CC folks can answer that. |

| Weight Loss | Who blew thier diet for the 4th? | Jul 05 2008 21:26 (UTC) |

I did. I had less than 200 cals for breakfast and I didn't eat anything else after I got home BUT I had a hot dog, a peice of boneless skinless grilled chicken, corn casserole, baked beans, banana pudding, "dirt" cake, a tiny peice of BBQ ribs. It was wonderful! I didn't have tons of each thing but I did have some of everything!! I would estimate that I had about 2500 calories yesterday. Today I just got right back on the wagon. I didn't do any EXTRA exercise I just did what I normally do. I've noticed that I'm hungrier today than I usually am when I haven't overeaten. So as a result I've already had the majority of the calories that I normally have in an entire day. Normally at 430 in the afternoon I will have hundreds more calories left for dinner. Today I have maybe 300. It's okay though, I'll have my Boca burger and veggies and it'll be all good. So no, I'm not going to the gym to try to burn 1000 calories or anything insane like that, I'm just going to jump back on and keep on going. Surely one day will not erase an overall healthy lifestyle. (I hope) :-) |

Okay, Thursday, weigh in day... SW- 166 Last weigh in- 163 CW-161 GW- 147 So a total of 5lbs lost, 2 since last weigh in. I've weighed each morning and the 161 has stuck for the past 2 days, so I'm claiming it. It helps to document this, I thought I'd only lost 1lb since this committing to this group. Yay for 2lbs!! I hope you all have had a successful week!

Thanks guys! I ended up having arroz con pollo. It was a chicken thigh without skin but with bone with yellow rice and black beans. they served fried plantains, I had a piece about thumb sized. I didn't care for the yucca so I didn't eat any of that. I only ate about half of everything. I don't think I did too bad. Thanks again for your suggestions. Steph |

| Weight Loss | has anyone heard of the "fullbar"? | Jun 30 2008 23:03 (UTC) |
7 |
I've seen the ad for it. I think it's just a high fiber bar that you eat and drink a glass of water with and it swells up and makes you full before eating a meal. I have a friend that used Metamucil in that way. She lost 100lbs and was featured in Women's World magazine. She drank (the pills don't work) a glass of Metamucil before breakfast, lunch and dinner and over the course of a year she lost the 100lbs. Those clear fiber mixes don't work in the same way I'm told. I'd try that before I bought the Fullbar. Hope that helps. |

| Calorie Count | Adding a food to the log.... | Jun 29 2008 18:48 (UTC) |

Ohhhhhh!!! Got it, thank you!! The item I was logging is a new fiber drink mix made by All-Bran. I got pink lemonade flavor and it's like the mix ins for the water bottle. Get this, it has 10 grams of fiber in one serving. It was by far the most fiber of any of the fiber supplements. However, I find that, unlike Metamucil, it seems to make me hungry. Hmmm. Maybe it's all in my mind. I hope so. Anyhoo, thanks so much for helping me with that dilemma!!! |

| Weight Loss | Alli, not working. i dont get it | Jun 25 2008 23:42 (UTC) |

I tried it. Nothing.... Never had any of the side effects. The only way I could MAKE myself have any of the side effects was to splurge on pizza or something like that. On a day to day basis, I wasn't eating enough fat for it to do anything for me anyway. Don't fret. Just find something and stick to it. You look really good now, I agree with the other poster about the personal trainer. To thebledx3, Alli only binds with the fat in foods, it has nothing to do with speeding up metabolism. No fast heartbeat. |

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
