i concur surek! it is a smidge tedious to have to go back and re-select each item - a copy/paste function would be lovely.

Young Calorie Counters whats the strangest thing you find attractive in the other sex? Jul 07 2008

hmm..i'm not sure i can pin any one thing down. i like crunchy/granola/hippy/scruffy types who simply have a nice, open vibe.

but, i have noticed, i'm super small but tend to be more attracted to taller men. a guy who can talk music to me is super sexy.

any dude who spends more time on his personal hygiene than i do, supreme turn off. and i'm a rinse and go kinda gal.

p.s. decarswell ^^ can i tell you how cute you are! :P

LOL oh my i have been reading through these giggling like mad..

ok, i hate the creepy old men who leer - and the people strolling on the treadmills, just taking up space. and it is a supreme pet peeve when someone tries to engage me in conversation while i am running. um hello - i have these little earphones in my ears to tune you and everyone else out! ..or maybe i'm just not that good at multi-tasking. and i hate the people who just chill on the weight machines while i'm clearly waiting for that exact machine.

embarrassing: i've definitely stumbled and almost slammed my face into the treadmill. i've definitely sent my iPod flying. and it's so nice to hear that the nipping problem happened to someone else! haha - that is super embarrassing and i hate it when that happens!

ah yes - and that damn gaseous problem occasionally plagues me too!

i completely empathize -- it's all mental, i know this, but i can't help but feel a slight twinge of guilt, you know?

but, it's getting better because i'm seeing that i am indeed able to maintain with my caloric intake :)

p.s. i was the same as you! until i found this website and actually educated myself about calories - i thought the only way to lose weight was by severely limiting the calories i was taking in *i.e. keeping daily intake below 1000 along with exercising vigorously every day* i can't begin to express how much better i feel knowing that i don't need to do this to myself.  :)

this website has been such a huge help.

You need better drunken friends.

Most of the time when we would get drunk, a drunken game of football, ultimate frisbee, or some other game we would make up (Drunken Olympics anyone?) would ultimately burn off most of the calories we would consume.

Also put the school gym to use!

drunk kickball! yesss! :D

Also, I"m confused, as I did see a post where they were stating that children should have MORE calories because their bodies are growing/developing still.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! Smile

well, i am no mother nor doctor for sure (!!) - but you stated above that your daughter is 12, yes? i stopped growing vertically at age 11- i'm not sure if that's maybe been your daughter's case..? and i'm also not sure whether or not this matters in the above highlighted statement - but something to consider, perhaps?

it would be 453 cals/hour for me - to get yours specifically, click on your burn meter and type in swimming - breaststroke and it will tell you how much you burn with that activity in an hour.

mmm cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese or peanut butter are delectable! the best are the bagels from a little local pastry shop - so fluffy! unfortunately probably at least 500 cals just for the bagel.

i've managed to ween myself from them and have switched to english muffins :)

Vegetarian Vegitarians and vegans, what were/are your reasons for changing your diet? Jul 05 2008
10:54 (UTC)

Original Post by gpat919:

I did it. primarily, for health reasons. I am a big fan of meat products, but decided that I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle. For years I got very close to a vegetarian lifestyle, but never truly committed.

I decided to take it to the next level- but what was the next level? Vegetarianism? Veganism? I read quite a bit to figure out what that next level was.

My research lead me to a lifestyle I was only vaguely aware of- raw foodism. I read for days and days, and decided to give it a shot. I continue to read more and more- pretty much every day.

Since I've began living this lifestyle, I've found other reasons to stick with it:
-very clear mind; focussed thoughts and concentration
-better memory
-clear, moist skin, youthful skin
-more energy
-the food is absolutely delicious

I really wish I was doing this for ethical reasons. But, I'm doing this for selfish reasons- my health.

what are some examples of a raw food diet? can you point me in the right direction to locate some good resources to read up on raw foodism myself?

thanks :)
