I've been on cc since June 15, 2008- almost 2 months.  I started at 146 and I now weigh 134.5 (5'2" female).

I'm very happy with myself but I still want to keep going and try to get myself back into the 120s!!

renee!

yes! eat more! i remember the week i only lost .5 lbs and i was so disappointed.  i upped my calories to 1200, spread across the day and since then i've lost almost 3 pounds!  the weight loss is definitely slower but that means that you will be able to KEEP IT OFF!

Thanks!!!

All you need to do is go under tools and click on the burn meter.  It will ask you questions about your height, weight, lifestyle, body frame, etc.  Then that's it!

Jackie!

Good for you!  You sound like you have some great goals- very inspirational!  My best weight loss advice is create a 500 calorie deficit everyday.  In other words, figure out how many calories you burn in a given day, subtract 500, and then that's how many you should be eating.  Don't go lower than this!  Trust me!  Your weight loss plan will only backfire.

Make sure to spread your meals throughout the day- that is the best for your metabolism.

And above all- DONT GIVE UP!  You can definitely do this.  So just put your mind to it!

Ok here are my stats!  I'm really excited because I'd been stuck at 139 for awhile and now I've finally moved past it!

I think I'm only going to lose 5 pounds.  Since I've already lost some weight I am focusing on maintaining a 500 calorie deficit for now but I might need to mix things up if things start to slow.

Good luck everyone!  You can do it!  Don't give up!

need2change-

i TOTALLY hear you!  i have almost the same stats as you but I am a little shorter (which makes it worse) 23yr old, 5'2", i started at 146 and after almost 4 weeks of dieting i am almost at 138.

i really hear your gripe about being so unhappy with yourself.  it's only been in the past week that i have felt a little bit thinner...just in certain areas though. i hate when i feel like my clothes look terrible on me.  but i never want to go buy new ones because i keep telling myself that i want to lose weight first.  however i bought 3 new shirts this week :-)

to get were i am right now- in case you are interested because we are similar- i dieted hardcore for 3 weeks.  i tried to consume very few calories and i worked out, cardio, 30 min everyday. i lost 3.5lbs the first week, 3.5lbs the second week, and then only .5lb the third week.  i changed my diet plan so that instead of consuming barely 1000 calories a day, i now eat 1200- everyday.  i think it is REALLY helping.  I spread out my food- i've started eating breakfast- and i think this is definitely helping to jump start my metabolism.  I do get hungry after I eat sometimes, but I turn up my will power to make it through.  I often feel like when I'm hungry right after I just ate that it must be my metabolism gearing up to shed off some pounds.

i would suggest trying to stick to 1200 calories a day.  eat whatever you want jut stay in the limit. measure out your portions too!  that helped me a lot.

you can TOTALLY DO IT.  you just have to put your mind to it.

Wow that is one intense diet!  Props to you if you can keep something like that up!  I am not a dieting expert but I have been working very hard for the past 3.5 weeks on losing weight.  Just starting this week (the 4th week) I am eating 1200 calories a day like you are (I was eating less before-bad I know-it was working but then it stopped).

Anyway I think what you are doing seems fine.  I am finding this week that if I spread my calories out throughout the day it seems to "jump start" my metabolism.  I eat breakfast, a morning tea-break, lunch, an afternoon piece of fruit, dinner, and then another snack.  I am hungrier....but I feel like it is working.  I will let you know as the week gets closer to the end and I weigh myself.

The 1200 calories a day should definitely help you a lot.  My only issue would be keeping it up!  I always try to eat anything I want to as long as I keep the calories at 1200.  For instance I eat whatever kind of cereal I want for breakfast, I just make sure I don't overflow the bowl.  I measure out one serving instead.

So if those things above are all your favorite foods- then great!  If not, look around the site for other tasty options!

PS- I noticed you eat 8 oz of plain yogurt for 150 calories.  Try Dannon Light N Fit.  They make it with splenda, it comes in lots of flavors, and it's 60 calories for 6 oz.

Weight Loss Lean Cuisine paninis - question regarding salt Jul 08 2008

I like ALL the sandwiches that lean cuisine makes.  I haven't tried the paninis yet (although I have some in the fridge) but I really like the flatbread sandwiches and the pizzas too.

I was concerned about the sodium too.  It doesn't get a good grade from cc either.  But I LOVE having these for dinners because they are really good, they fill me up, AND I feel good about myself too.  They definitely help me keep my calorie intake where I need it to be.

Can anyone else shed some light on this?

Hi all-

I would like to join too!  I started cc about 3 weeks ago and I lost 7 pounds in the first 2 weeks!  But then NOTHING in the 3rd week (which just ended yesterday) so I am pretty discouraged :-(

I've been trying to take polls from other users as to where I should turn next.  Should I continue the low calories or should I try zig zagging?

I also feel guilty because I ate a lot at the cheesecake factory tonight!  But it was pretty good :-)

I started at 146.  I'm now at 139.  I would LOVE to get to 129 but I'm just not sure what to do.  120 is my ultimate goal (I am only 5'2", female).

I could use the support and advice!

So what do people think?  Does your body really get used to how you are eating and thus attempts to keep up by holding onto the weight?  If that's the case, then maybe variation is the answer and not simply doing the same thing week in and week out.

I have the same problem guys!  I wasn't always like this though.  I gained a lot of weight at one point and then they just appeared.  Ive been dieting/working out for the last 2.5 weeks and in that time I've lost 7lbs (I started at 146).  I weigh myself every Sunday so I'll let you know how this week goes.

My goal is to GET RID OF THESE LOVE HANDLES!  I've thought about adding some ab exercises to my routine but I've heard that won't cut it.  That will help define the muscles but they will still be under a layer of fat.  My plan for now is to continue reducing calories and exercising (30 minutes elliptical each day) and then see where that takes me.  My theory is that if you keep up with the calorie reduction the pounds will have to melt away from somewhere!!!  And maybe eventually the love handles will go too.

I've heard that running can really help with this- so I am considering adding that to my repetoire if/when the weight loss begins to slow down.

I'll let you know how things pan out.  Anyone else out there have the same problem???  Any success stories???
