This only happened to me once, but... It really pissed me off when some random girl rolled her eyes at me while I was working out. It's just like, yes people do use the gym other than to loose weight -some even come to gain, in fact I'd argue that most are there to gain (in my gym any way it's guys wanting to get muscular) NO WAY!!!. I haven't seen her there since that one time... I've nearly reached my goal weight, I bet she's even further off. Seriously, I don't waste my time worrying about you're doing, why do you waste yours worrying about what I'm doing? |

| Weight Gain | Cardio and Weight gain | Jun 17 2009 05:55 (UTC) |

Doing cardio IS how I gained weight. I was only doing 20 minutes (in 10 minute sets), this is what a personal trainer recommended to me, he said it's important to do cardio for lung and heart health, but it can be counter productive if you're trying to gain -as it can strip away fat and muscle. So I started doing a little bit, as well as weight lifting, it was the cardio that made me so damn hungry and actually able to east more than 3000 calories a day. Eventually I hit a plateau and it wasn't enough to make me ravenously hungry any more, but I managed to gain 10 kilos before this. So I've upped cardio time, and now I'm crazy hungry again, hopefully I'll be able to gain the last 5 kilos I want. I should also say here that I previously hadn't done much exercise for about 4 years before I started, all I did was walk to uni, so it might not work if your body is used to doing lots of exercise. |

| The Lounge | so scared! period help? | Jan 10 2009 13:26 (UTC) |

My doctor told me that it's safe to have your period every second month (as in continue on to the next pack instead of taking the sugar pills), you can even have it every 3rd month. Your cycle can take time to adjust though, you've probably just confused your body a bit -the first time I had my period after skipping the sugar pills for 2 months, period was a little late, since then it ha come on the usual day. You probably shouldn't mess with your cycle too much, there isn't really any medically wrong with doing it, but it can stress you out if your period comes late! The pill isn't 100% effective, so there's always a chance you could be pregnant, but u probably already knew that. Just give it a few more days... if your really worried, see a doctor. |

| Young Calorie Counters | "guys dig curves" garbage | Jul 07 2008 16:15 (UTC) |

Guys like girls. That's all there is too it. All sorts of guys like all sorts of girls. I agree that's it's not fair to make the blanket statement that all guys like curves, just as it's not fair to say that all guys like the very thin cat walk model body shape. I'd also like to say having curves has NOTHING to do with weight, curves are about proptions -typically a hip to waist ration of 0.7 is considered attractive (once again NOTHING to do with weight) I'm underweight and I have a hip to waist ratio of 0.7, so I am also curvy. Dita Von Teese weighs about 105 pounds, her BMI is 16.8, and there's no way you can say she isn't curvy. It's all relative, people! |

I was 5. I'd et asked stupid questions like "Are you anorexic" -I hated that, it's so rude and nasty, it's not like the people who asked me that even cared if I had such an awful illness, they just wanted to find a negative reason as to why I was so skinny and why they were so... well, not. Adults would tell my mother and some times myself that I was to thin and needed to put on weight. It was stupid really, at 5 years old I had so much more growing to do, it was like people were saying wrong or something? I'm still underweight and I'm always the smallest in the room, but I'm older now -I've developed an acid tongue for any one that dares to ask if I have a life threatening mental illness, and I've learnt to dress to suit my shape and all that, plus I'm just more mature. It still bothers me a little though, and do want to gain weight (for myself) so I can be healthy. |

I count the calories, I then realize I haven't had enough to get the daily quota I need to gain weight. I then go to the kitchen, I count some calories and then I force them down my throat. Then I wonder if that was all worth it because that's what I've been doing with my free time for a month now and I haven't gained one stinking little kilogram. I just want a healthy BMI too! |

| Weight Gain | 4000 Calories a Day | Jul 05 2008 14:25 (UTC) |

Hey I'm new to this too, to reach my goal of gaining 4 kilos in a month and half I apparently have to eat around 4000 calories. This is a lot for me, today I managed 3,500 calories. You eat that many calories then the theory goes that yes you will gain weight. You could try weightlifting as well -it will build muscle which weighs more than fat, but you probably already know all that. Every one is different the only real way to know if something will work for you is to just give it ago. Also, 1500 calories for breakfast is impressive! What did you eat?! Misundastood, I sometimes get what you describe after I go to sleep after eating something that is difficult to digest (I also have other unrelated digestive problems as well though) anything too greasy and too sugary (like ice cream) just seems to sit in my stomach overnight if I go to bed too soon after eating. If I get hungry at night -I always do, I just have a couple of pieces of toast and a glass of milk, it seems to be easier to digest. Maybe you could try to get the bulk of you calorie intake earlier in the day and stick to light and easy to digest foods at night? |
