The best thing to do is rest, or your body will be fighting over where to put its energy, and you'll stay sick longer.

Weight Loss Why is healthy eating so expensive? Nov 11 2009
02:36 (UTC)
2

I've never found that eating healthy is more expensive. Staples seem to be much cheaper, and you have to realise that much of these things aren't going to be eaten in one go, but diveded up into meals. Any pre packaged diet food is going to be much more expensive, producers of the food have found a nitche and people who will buy them at inflated prices. Try as much as you can to go around the parameter of a grocery store, all the items in nthe food pyramid are at the edges, while the center of the store is reserved for name brands and pre packaged foods. I spend about 40 dollars a week, making it 160 a month. With coupons and planning, you could probably make it around 120 a month.

What you should do is empty the whole bowl except for two, and place the others out of your range. Allow yourself two, If you don't you're more likely to binge if you keep denying yourself items that you crave, just don't allow those kinds of food to be around you in large quanitities.

Foods food ruts...do you have them?? Sep 02 2009
01:56 (UTC)

I have those from time to time. More when I was trying to tame my Overeating by unsafe ways. Like how I would eat 2 potatos a day, or a peanut butter jelly sandwhich. Now I find I fall into the ruts since I barely have enough time to plan. Knowing what I can create in a snap, and doesn't go over my calorie limits blocks me into veggie patties all the time because they are sooo good, and take like 10 minutes to make. Salads to, they just some together so well, and the mixture of salsa and ranch is so safe for me... It's just hard to find something else sometimes.

I came in a little late, so I think the whole board may have said this: Go with sugarless tea, or if you're not fond of that try a sugar substitute.

I was raised on sugarless tea... so I anjoy the pure flavor without the enhancement.

Original Post by me__:

People used to eat like that, and worse, for many years - not that many years ago.  They were all thin.  It's only now, as society becomes more dependent on fast foods and ready to eat foods, that obesity has become a concern.  In the South, and even in the North some, people deep fried everything!  So, it's good to see a chef who cooks food and doesn't worry about cooking it in a politically correct or fashionable way.  My Grandma lived to be 84 and she had a gallon of milk a day and a pound of bacon.  People are just too inactive today and its so much easier to blame someones deep fried cooking than their own weaknesses.

That is a wonderful point...

Motivation Help! The weekends are killing me! Jun 04 2009
17:58 (UTC)

On the weekened, I won't really eat unless someone hands something to me at an outing. I will grab about half of what I want and pass the bag on. It really helps with me, but my social circle really doesn't try to feed me all the time. So this tacttic might not work with everyone.

Maintaining after a horrible weekend of eating? Jun 04 2009
17:56 (UTC)

Oh, at my worst time it took me months because I had to retrain myself. I have an overeating problem that i'm trying to hurdle over. In the best of times it only took me a day to get back on track and like three days to get back down.

Foods How can I cut down on sugar? IT'S EVERYWHERE!!! May 19 2009

just read the labels and try to find alternatives. you want some ice cream? pop some vanilla yogurt into the freezer. You have to look at that as well, because sometimes "health foods" can be as chock full of sugar as the thing syou want to stay away from. This month my sugar average is 60g a day... not too bad considering i started out aroung 150g.

Ah man, I've had this mapped out forever. I knew I couldn't keep myself motivated enough to drop the weight without forseeable rewards in the future. I even broke my first reward early, and I think that's what sent me back 7 pounds... so I had to start again so close to where I began at 215... but at least it wasn't 227 right?

my goals:

1gw: 200, I can wear my jeans

2gm: 180, a food scale and measuing cups for wherever I go

3gw: 160, pedicure and manicure

4gw: 150, climbing a tree I love

5gw: 130, 3 M.A.C. items

6gw: 124, An, I'm Not Fat Party! yay!!! i know it's egotistical, but I think I can show off after 100 pounds weight loss when it happens.

Weight Loss Diet Support at Work Apr 28 2009

Like everyone has said, log everything! After a month or so, it'll become a habit along with checking your email. Keep a journal along with you too, that way you don't forget anything. It's also a way you can keep how you're feeling when you wat in case there's any emotional reason behind it.

there are certian things that help with me such as:

1. not using the microwave (that was I can't mindlessly nuke away, and it gives me a better opportunity to cook healthier meals).

2. putting apple sauce and yogurts in the freezer.

3. there's always something to do! always... lol, but don't exaust yourself.
