Tea! I am also a late evening snacker and I find a nice cup of decaf earl grey with a splash of milk and some Splenda will help curb the sweet craving. Con, you may have to pee a lot before bed :) |

| WOW. Canadian vitamuffins are not cheap. 25 dollars to ship to BC! I was going to order the super sampler and it worked out to almost 3 dollars a muffin top. I don't think so.
Does anyone know of of any stores in Bellingham WA that sell Vitamuffins? I can pick some up on my next cross border shopping trip. |

| hmm worst insults.
6th grade a guy named Mike holding up a flash card with a pig on it in french class and saying "Hey its ...insert my name here..." Whole class laughed and teacher pretended she didn't hear. University, a group of guys and girls heckled me on the way to the bus saying things like, "You missed the hydrant you dog." The worse though was going out with my 2 friends for new years and having a group of guys come over to talk to us. The one guy "left over", who clearly wasn't interested in talking to me whatsoever, mentioned loudly to the girls at the next table "Just taking one for the team..." Worse part is that my friends didn't seem to notice. Funny how it can be 20 years later and I still want to shrink and hide when I think of these. |

| Dear Knees, thank you for the wake up call. I know you'll always creak and crack now that you've had to carry my pounding weight on unforgiving concrete, but thanks for not giving up on me totally. To my Right Knee, I know you'll never be the same but I am grateful for your getting stronger and continuing to let me walk, hike and exercise without a brace. I know I was angry at you and hit you out of frustration for failing me but I know now I failed you.
Dear Thighs and Hips and Butt, I know that the three of you and my Waist are not the best of friends right now. You guys insist on a size 16 trouser while my waist insists on a 14. I'll do my best to find a happy medium until you 4 can come to an agreement. I know that Ms Waist dropped more inches than you, even though you did most of the work, what with the lunges/squats/elliptical and all. You deserve most of the credit so please be patient with Waist as she's excited to be an hourglass again. Thanks for grunting with resignation when I take the stairs and not screaming at me like you used to do. Dear Waist and Stomach, thanks for finally doing a full sit up! Thanks for shrinking so my breast's look bigger. I know I pinch the pooch and wonder when the folds will disapear but I can see how far you've come and I'm proud of you. By the way be nice to Hips/Thighs/Butt, they need a bit of TLC right now. Dear Breasts and Chest...I know that I complain that you're not perky and that you've had stretch marks since I was 13, but I never wished you to be bigger or smaller...in fact you are one of the best looking racks I've ever seen. Keep up the good work! Chest, I'm sorry for the 100 push ups I did the other day...I never thought you'd make it to the end but you proved me wrong. Dear Arms...I'll be honest...I hate the flap of fat under your upper part. I'm not sure you'll ever go away but I promise to try my best to not look down on you for trying your hardest. You've gotten stronger and supported Ms. Chest during her 100 push up torture session. Thanks for your patience and thanks for the hugs when I'm feeling down. Dear Body: Thank you for being strong enough to endure the last 20 years of abuse that I've thrown at you. I was mean to you, made fun of you, hated you, poisoned you, and dressed you in clothes that hid youand shamed you. I didn't love you for your gifts of strength and health, rather I blamed my failure on you. I convinced myself it was your genes and not my depression and fear that kept you drowning and trapped in those extra pounds. I rejected you. I never wanted any 'body' but you. I looked at beautiful, healthy actresses and athletes and said, wow she looks great but I never wished for their body. I only wanted you. And under all that anger, sadness, and frustration, was my desire to be strong and brave enough to love you the way you deserved to be loved. I was afraid to love you. I'm sorry. |

Thanks for the motivation :) |

| WOW! That is amazing, 76 pounds down.
I can relate to the clothes issue. I started at 265 and last time I weighed (a month ago) was 205. I personally found that plus sized clothes never fit right anyway and never looked good on me. I personally think they are cut to fit a very wide range of body types and weights as opposed to regular sizes. Now I can squeeze into the largest size at most "regular" stores, and I see a difference where I didn't before. Don't lose heart and keep up the great work, sometimes the shopping gods are just not with us. Try again another day :) |

| Sake Salmon, rice, fresh corn on the cob, spinach and carrots!
Make a marinade with reduced sodium soy sauce, sake, ginger and honey, and coat salmon for about 20 min. Pan fry quickly, about a minute a side, with juliened carrots and add a few tablespoons of the marinade at the end. Serve over rice and spinach (spinach will wilt slightly) and top with spring onions and toasted sesame seeds. I got the corn on special today...ate it straight off the cob! |

| Thanks for all the great replies. I feel a bit better knowing that there are other people have experienced this. It took therapy to get me started losing weight, and I had hoped now that I had started the process and understood how to lose weight, that I would be done with delving into my own psyche...sigh. Zeebi I love the line: "I release all my excess weight" Almost like a hostage I've been carrying around for a decade in an attempt to protect myself from pain in the outside world. ***I just had a visual of my releasing a little piggy into a meadow and shouting, "Your free my little piggy friend...run, piggy, run!" I need coffee** Edit: Clarified |

| Weight Loss | Getting back to 1800 - not so easy...! | Apr 27 2007 23:24 (UTC) |
|
| Hi rjong999. Congrats on upping your calories. I've recently done the same but I have to admit I was gosh darn ecstatic at the thought of eating more. I have noticed though that the good portion control, and good eating habits are now less of a conscious choice and are becoming a subconscious habit. For instance, I've been renovating my kitchen the last 2 weeks and have therefore been stuck with a limited, microwavable menu. Last night I got out of the gym at 7 and desperately wanted my dinner so I decided to hit the White Spot on the way home. I ordered the "under 5g fat chicken breast dinner with veggies and salad, 310 calories" and a side order of fries as a treat. The meal came, I ate half my breast of chicken and all the veggies and about a third of the fries. Then I put my napkin over the fries, had the chicken boxed up and went home. What was crazy is that it was completely subconscious. I felt full and satisfied and didn't need to eat the entire plate of fries. Like you, in another life I would have ordered a few beers, an appetizer, a creamy pasta dish, and dessert. I have to admit I'm a bit relieved that the choices are now becoming habit. I was worried it would always be an uphill battle! Edit: my spelling is terrible |

| Weight Loss | Thoughts on a one-day fast? | Apr 19 2007 23:34 (UTC) |
12 |
| I know a gentleman that does a one day fast every week. He is very active and apparently healthy. His reasoning behind it was that it wansn't until recently that we had an over abundace of food. It was, in fact, normal to have a fast or eat less occasionally during the week since there simply wasn't food available all the time.
While I'm not to sure about his reasoning behind his fast, I do agree that a one day fast would probably not be detrimental to the average healthy person. I would definitely take your nutritionists advice on making it a restful day, ie no intense exercise, and incorporating "gentler" foods the following day. Good luck! |

| 1. Motivationally, is it easier for you to stick to a food programme or an excersize programme? Initially neither :) I have a hard time motivating myself, though it has been getting easier. Long term, however, definitely exercise because I see results faster in terms of strength and endurance. 2. What programmes have you tried in the past, and why haven't they worked (or what worked about them)? I've never "dieted" or really watched my eating till now. I did go through various periods of exercising, sometimes for months at a time, but without changing my eating there wasn't a major weightloss. 3.With excersize, do you prefer cardio, weight training, both, or something else? I prefer strength training...I feel like a bad ass in the gym when I'm weight training. I hate cardio so I need my ipod blaring to get through it, but I feel better after. My pilates/torso class is very motivating because I see the progress I've made by how I can do exercises I never could before. 4. In a perfect world, what would your ideal programme consist of (example: I would have a personal trainer and a personal chef cook all of my food; I would have a stay at home nanny to watch my children, etc) Money to see my personal trainer 3 times a week instead of once, plus money for extra activites like snow boarding, skiing, kayaking, mountain climbing, yoga classes etc. AND fresh organic foods delivered to my door. And a magic 10 calorie fudge brownie the size of a dinner plate. 5. What is your biggest barrier to your health and fitness goals? Me, myself, and I. Had to straighten out my head and then the changes came naturally. 6. Looking back, what made you gain weight in the first place? Depression, lonliness, stress. |

Just a warning ahead of time, I may have to cancel. My Dad is renovating my kitchen and I'm the officail helper. He will probably be done by Sat but just incase I may have to wait until meet up #2 :( BTW have you all been reading about that PB2 from Bell Plantation. The peanut butter that's had all the oil pressed out of it. I ordered some, and the minimum order is 4 jars. I'm keeping one and have had 2 friends stake claims on 2 of the jars, which leaves me with 1 extra. If anyone wants it it works out to 5.75 a jar and I'm happy to bring it along on Sat. Here's the link! http://www.bellplantation.com/new/cart3/index .php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2 &zenid=411cdb9d89ffe6acf9f474270ef03386 |

| Pirates are thieves and likely have a wench in every port...however there is a good chance of getting some lucre.
Spacemen always have their heads in the clouds...so to speak. Ninjas have great bodies, fantastic fighting skills, and a nicely balanced chi. Also, if they subscribe to the Mr. Miyagi school of Martial Arts they only use karate in self-defense...so good morals there. Yes definitely have to go with Nija....wax on, wax off Danielson. |
