Thank you for your replies. It's good to hear other people feel the same way. I'm going to try my hardest to just enjoy and not worry so much, but it is easier said than done... |

yeah, some of the stuff looks pretty good. I know this isn't really the point but the reason I am fat is b/c of the amount of food I eat and not really the type of food. I eat fairly healthy and every once in a while indulge in something totally fattening (like the stuff in the site) but what really makes the difference is how much of that stuff you are eating and not whether you are trying it every once in a while. I'm a firm believer that if you want to eat something you should, otherwise later you will compensate with other things.

I totally agree and would go even further to say that people that restrict themselves that way will not keep up with their weight loss. They will burn out and give up. I HATE the idea of dieting and eating only certain foods because you are on a diet. I completely support the idea of better decisions (more fruits, veggies) and smaller portions. I have lost 25 lbs (!) but it took me 14 months. I averaged 2000 calories a day, even though I tried eating less most days, but I'm happy that I continued to do everything I wanted -eating out, having wine on the weekends, hitting the local pastry shop every once in a while, etc, etc. I feel have made a real change in my eating habits (eating less, eating smarter) but without interfering with my lifestyle. Good luck on your decision making and journey. |

Hello. Kbella24 congratulations!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. So are you starting maintenance now or will you try to loose some more? 2 Fridays ago I weighted 145, I was sooo excited. So excited that I proceeded to eat and drink all I wanted that weekend... when will I ever learn? So needless to say I'm back at 148. But I'm happy with that. I'm thinking that my new goal is 143. I don't think I'll need to loose anymore weight at that point, just tone things up. I'm doing weight training 3 times a week now to make sure all the flab goes away. It has worked in some spots but others not so much.

I try to play tennis at least 1-2 times a week and do at least 1 more light activity for the week- like playing beach volleyball, kayaking or hiking. |

hey tcole03, I feel exactly the same way... I totally understand your frustration. I spent the last 2 weeks trying to think of whether I just need to lose another 5lbs or try to do more weight lifting, or something. There is still some jiggle in my stomach, arms, butt that I am not really liking... this sucks. When I was in my early 20s I weighted more than now but everything was pretty tight, now everything is just soooooo flabby. What are you going to do? Let me know if it works. |

Hey, when were you in Brazil? Was that just for a visit? I know what you mean, it is so hard to eat less when you are surrounded by starches and meat (I love the meat there!). I totally know what you mean about the plateau. I had that happen too when I got to about 157. At that time no one even noticed I had lost about 13 lbs. Then all of a sudden I lost 7 lbs. It made a world of difference and everyone started commenting on... to the point where I was a bit embarrassed about all the cajoling. I'm now working on the last 5 lbs, and stuck on 150 for the last month. I'm hoping the same thing will happen, one day I'll wake up just lighter... One thing that I have noticed that has helped a lot was weight training. I know everyone says it helps but I never really bought it b/c I didn't feel like I was working out unless I was sweating profusely doing cardio, but it does. It works wonders and I am so happy to finally see results. Try some pump classes or other cardio/weight class combinations. They'll kick your butt into shape. |

hello there again, sorry I have been gone for a while. i've been really busy with doing... nothing... funny how the less work you have the less you get accomplished. school starts in the end of august so i'm trying my hardest not to take on too much work, which leads to a whole lot of idle time. one good thing that came out of all this free time is that i'm working out quite a bit. i've been taking some weight classes at the gym (24 set), which are awesome. it's been 2 months since i've been going 2-3 times a week and you can already see the changes in my arms and stomach, amazing. i'm usually very cynic about these things but seriously this class is miraculous. you should try. i'm also running more and doing more cardio. my weight is still at 150 but i'm hoping that by the end of the month i'll get to 145. if i don't have another 4th of july weekend of non stop eating like i did i'll be ok. i see someone joined the group from wimblenton, uk, that is awesome. how was the tournament? i can't imagine how the town's spirit must be during that time of the year. were people happy with federer wining? i love him! |

Hi theferet, thank you for your nice words. I appreciate that. I've been feeling much better about things these last 2 weeks. I'm down to 150 and hopefully when 145 comes around I'll really see the difference I've been waiting for. I think that my posting was exactly about what you mentioned, whether all the issues I'm having are in my head or I am still big... I'm trying to focus on getting to 145 and then I'll reevaluate my situation again. I'm 5'10'' btw. You look great in your pictures, great job in the weight loss (27lbs!).

I'm sorry Giaaa, that all sounds awful. I'm glad you decided to share this with people and hopefully you can get some relief from just letting it all out. I have 2 pieces of advise to you: 1. Do not to take any of it personally, she is the one with the issues; 2. try to be as healthy as you can, as successful as you can (in your studies, work, other relationships), get out from your mother's wing as soon as you have the chance and enjoy yourself on your own terms. Good luck and hang in there. |

Hi guys, how are you? I'm with you too. I've been in other forums and got a really hard time for saying I want to weight 140-145lbs. I honestly think that when you are heavier your perspective on how much you want to weight is very different. People compensate by saying they have a large frame, their "healthy" BMI is xxx... well, it is really about perspective. I should mention that I do want to be fit and healthy, but the thing is, I have always been fit and healthy, but now I would like to be skinnier, not just not fat, but skinnier. I've never been fat but I have ALWAYS been the larger girl (specially b/c I'm 5'10'') and I am so tired of it. I want to be able to wear a bathing suit without feeling like the rolls are the only thing people can see. I don't want to be the girl with the "pretty" face. So, here are my stas, I'll try to post every Saturday too. age 29, sw 172, cw 152, gw 145 (for now).

Hi, I also struggle with my body imagine. Specially today... I finally got down to 152, that is 20 lbs since I started here 1 year ago. Only I feel just as freaking big as I did at 172... I wish I could be happier about it. I should be happier about it but instead I feel nothing, just fat. I decided about 4 months ago that I would go down to 145, my original goal was 150, and now I'm starting to think that it may have to be 140 before I see/feel a difference. Do you think it may be because I have a small frame after all? I carry all my weight in my stomach so the rolls are still there no matter how much exercise. I also, funny enough, have a very chubby face... which is not going away. Don't mean to sound depressed/bitchy, I just wish this wasn't such an issue. It is reassuring that everyone here seems to struggle with this but at the same time I would love for someone to offer me some tool/advice to deal with it.

Total loss=7! I didn't particularly eat less these past 2 weeks but I did some very long exercise routines, 12 mile hikes, and just kept very busy the whole time. I would love to have time to just have the active lifestyle I've been having these past 2 weeks but I know that is not realistic. So I'll have to continue to resort to cutting back on calories. I actually started that this week- 1500/day until 6/27 so I can finally lose these last 8 lbs!

hi, I'm about 5'11'' and 154lbs. I'm also trying to get to low to mid 140lbs. I would love to stay in touch as I have no sense of what someone my size looks like. I've been trying to update my pictures but the site won't let me. The last pics I have up are from when I was 160-65, I have lost quite a bit since then. I started here at 172lbs that was my highest ever and I'm finally down to what I consider ok. However, I still have quite a bit of extra weight hanging on that needs to go!! I've been working out quite a bit- 5 times at week, 3 times cardio and 2 times weights and some cardio. I've only added the weights in the last 3 weeks but I already feel the difference. So if you want any advice I would suggest weights for sure. I've been taking this body pump class that is awesome. I'm not bored, I get into the cheesy music they have, and I feel like I'm working out. |

Total loss=5 So I totally sucked this week. Just ate everything and totally pigged out 2 times when eating out. I worked out like crazy but I ate so much I just didn't loose any weight. So this week I'm getting my crap together and sticking to my 1500-1800 cals a day. I really want to be 153 by Thursday... Its hard to be so close to my target (150) and then do what I did this week... why do we do this? I wish I would listen to myself and stop the uncontrollable eating. |

04/03-1965/28000 I didn't realize that 28000 deficit means almost 1000 calories each day... this is going to be difficult. Oh well, I need difficult right now as I have been stuck at the same weight for 4 months... I'll be posting on a weekly basis on Fridays so it is easier to keep track of the numbers.
