Weight Loss How does everyone feel about carbonated water Jul 13 2008

I drink 1 bottle (750ml) of either Perrier or Pellegrino everyday.

For me it's great as it's 0-cal of course, no sugar or sweetners, makes me feel full (although I'll admit the temporary bloating can be annoying) and increases my water intake. Also agreed that it makes me feel I'm drinking much more than just (boring) water.

Only aside is it's somewhat expensive. For the price I spend on that one bottle I can get a full gallon of non-carbonated deer park water.

Weight Loss Fighting Cravings Jul 13 2008

I drink water. Helps fill me up to where I can't even think of consuming anything else. If that doesn't work then I'll eat something filling but healthy. In my experience, the best way to avoid cravings is simply to fill up on something else.

Also, eliminate the temptation by not keeping especially fattening items in the house. I guess there's always the temptation to order out, but no matter how hungry I get generally all I can do is eat healthy as there's nothing else in my kitchen. :-)

I know it seems to be a rather "love it or hate it" supplement, but I recently started with Hydroxycut Max and love it.

our bodies do weird things.

So true, you really have to take scale readings especially "with a grain of salt" as water weight in particular can really cause some strange things.

Not to rub it in, but for me the issue isn't so much the scale telling me I weigh more then expected, but rather less! I never totally believe when it says I've lost weight as sometimes it's way too drastic and I just know it's pure water. :-/

Weight Loss Tips on alcohol consumption and weight loss Jun 28 2008

Since getting serious with my diet I recently gave up alcohol altogether. It's a lot easier over the summer since I'm not around all my friends (college student). So we'll see if it sticks when the new semester starts come early September.

I've never been a beer drinker, always vodka shots (or occasionally rum or even whiskey) which I'd chase with a 0 calorie drink. However even so, most shots have about 90 calories in them. Given that I'd easily have about 8 in a night (not an alcoholic, I swear, just really high tolerance :-P) that would add up WAY too quickly.

Also, not to be holier than thou or what not, but it really started to seem pointless to me to be taking care of my body by eating all the right things and exercising daily, yet binge drinking. :-)

Very good to know!

My whole issue with cool whip however is that it does absolutely nothing for me satisfaction wise (as in filling me up). But I guess it's a good way to make a bland, healthy snack taste totally non-diet. :-P

Fast food, chips, cookies, candy, baked snacks, pizza, soda... List can go on and on. Used to eat it ALL and still crave it from time to time, but now I can actually resist it. :-)

Weight Loss "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!" Jun 27 2008

Congrats!

I'm at my lowest weight right now as well and it feels so good. And believe me when I say, I'm a junk food LOVER and am not at all nutrition conscious from a pure health (non-weight related) point of view. However in the end, as much as I enjoy the taste of all that crap, it's just not worth it (anymore). :-)

BECAUSE I bought the light ones I ate the whole package! If I had done that with regular ones, it would've completely screwed me over calorie-wise. It was also pretty much the only thing I ate that day. I was having a chip craving. No offense taken :) But this (warning: some strong language and very many TMI's) should give you an idea of what COULD happen if your body decides it doesn't like them. Also, not only eating big quantities could cause it. I've heard of people having it happen with only one or two chips.

LMAO, that article is hilarious!

I had this same thing happen to me. Didn't even think to make a connection to the chips, but now it all makes sense; gross. Should have known it was too good to be true... LESS than 500 calories for an ENTIRE bag of chips with NO fat and it tastes (to me at least) EXACTLY the same as its "normal" counterpart!?!

Probably just as well. Chips have always been my "cheating food" but I can do without all the sodium and carbs anyway. :-P

Health & Support Am I drinking too much water? Jun 27 2008

I would also be quite interested to hear the answer to this. Water is the only thing I drink (well other than milk with cereal) so I tend to have quite a lot of it. Not sure how many cups, but always at least half a gallon a day, sometimes a full gallon. However I have intense daily workouts and sweat quite a lot.

Of course water has no calories and is very important for the body, but is a certain amount too much?

Weight Loss question about days off!!! Jun 27 2008

I exercise daily, if I skip a day I feel really lazy. Plus, I always feel better when I do my workout.

Exact same thing here. Also it helps add structure to my day (as OCD as that sounds :-P).

However I was also wondering about the potential benefits of a day off. I know with weight training rest days are required but that doesn't stand true for cardio, right?
