with a calorie deficit of ~350 calories per day, you can lose it by then :) Of course sadly losing weight isn't a mathematical formula, but it's pretty close if you stick to that. |

People/things do have an effect on what we "want" and sometimes not all people "want" what is best for their body. I honestly don't think that people who "want" to be underweight should simply go for it because they "want what they want". Yes I completely support people doing things to make them happy, but in most cases with things like this someone wanting to be constantly underweight is going to get sick, be it starvation or a mental disorder, and chances are doing what they "want" is not going to help them in the long run. And I'm not blaming it solely on the media, because I understand how dumb that is because people are individuals, but I was more going with the thing that their are people on here that have no confidence and want to lose excessive amounts of weight considering their height/current weight, and overall it's not going to make them happy when they actually do lose it.
Edit-also this was a reply to garnet18 :P I'm not 100% sure how the reply thing works.

I know what you mean, I see people on here like "I'm 90 pounds and i need to loose 10 pounds and I'm 5'5" and I'm like....What the hell? I mean I understand wanting to be thin, but their are girls here that want to be underweight, which is stupid. It also stunts your growth, and NOT just "bone wise" if you get what I mean. |

| Young Calorie Counters | 5'4, plateau? | Aug 09 2008 05:10 (UTC) |

so sorry for the late reply, But cardio burns fat at the time your doing it. Try to get to doing a bit every day. Cardio is what burns the fat.(Like running, swimming, etc) But exercising your muscles helps in the long run, and it makes it so that you require more energy (calories) by whatever your doing. Try to do a few arm and leg exercises, the bigger the muscle the more energy it requires, so squats is something I recommend :). |

| Weight Loss | Feeling weird about losing weight & the attention | Aug 09 2008 03:09 (UTC) |
48 |
Every time a random guy hits on me for some reason I always get a sick feeling in my stomach and feel like I've done something bad. But the health benefits and being confident in general I think out weigh it. No pun intended ;P It's weird when guy friends do that too. I hate it because then I feel bad if I don't like them back. I'm just not big on too much attention in general :P I'm not shy at all but too much attention makes it awkward. but congratulations to the people who have lost weight in this thread and good luck to the people who are! :) |

im 5'4 and that was my hardest :P although i was eating the wrong amount from a stupid mistake, but The best way is most likely to start exercising at least 3 times a week, but try to eat a bit more if you exercise. :)
also,
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calc ulator.htm
and http://www.freedieting.com/tools/weight_loss_ calculator.htm
REALLY helps for stuff like that :) And if your going to stay sedentary, keep the same calories but eat healthier if your not doing that. (like if your getting most of your calories from salty/junk food) hope this helps! :D |

| Motivation | Longest Plateau? | Jul 31 2008 22:19 (UTC) |

oh god...my plateu was so freakin dumb. I was finding how much I needed to maintain which I do all the time at http://www.freedieting.com/tools/weight_loss_ tools.htm (sorry that thing is just something that really helped me so much I think itll be really usefull for the people here)
ok so anyways, I was calculating how much I needed to lose weight and it said 1600. This seemed a bit high though, but I shrugged it off because I've been following what that site said and it was almost always nearly exact. Anyways I was eating 1200 a day at the time and was looking just to increase it because I finally got down to 144. So I started eating 1600 calories a day. And I would almost ALWAYS never lost an ounce. So I decided to go check out and I finally realized that I had the settings on "male". .__. Which really messes you up if your not :P I was eating 100 calories less than I needed to maintain, which really doesn't get you that far in 2 months. but after that I started eating 1400 and I'm still doing that and I lost 5 pounds since then. and yeah, it was basically 2 months ago. X] I'm such a tart with stuff like that. |

| Weight Loss | Frame Size Inaccurate? | Jul 31 2008 21:46 (UTC) |
|
I think it's inaccurate, since fingers aren't in proportion to frame size. I have ridiculously small fingers (which I just have to add sucks if you play guitar DX) although I get a medium, I saw on this websight though about making a 90 degree angle with your elbow and measuring the bones that stick out, which sounds a bit more accurate, and also measuring your wrists with a ruler, not your fingers ;P |
