I like to do it in the micro only because its a convienence for me I have done it both ways and really did not notice a difference. Its great with sauce and a little parm cheese, DH likes it with butter and pepper which is great for him because he does not eat spaghetti so its a plus for him. My girlfriend eats it with butter and a dash of brown sugar or maple syrup I dont care for it that way but she says its great. Hope these ideas help Enjoy |

I sometimes have wheat toast(40 cal) a poached egg and spray butter on my toast. Yum Yum Sometimes i make scrambled eggs (1 whole egg and 1 egg white) with 1 or 1 slices of toast the 40 cal. Hope this helps with a different idea. good luck |

Welcome to CC i am sure you will find lots of support and help on this site as i have people here are all very understanding to what you are dealing with as most of us trying to lose are dealing with pretty much the same issues. You sound like you have a good grasp of the situation and are ready to go forward. I also an not a big exerciser not because i dont want to be but because of physical limitations but i work around them. I do a lot of swimming for my exercise and some treadmill so maybe thats something you could find and interest in. Have a great day and again Welcome |

As gi-jane said about the calories you may want to try a different marinade unless your stuck on the evoo but i like to use the free dressings like italian or balsamic vinegar that way you know how much your marinating in and how many calories then i just figure it out to how many pieces of chicken i am using and with the free dressings you get more flavor than with just evoo. Hope this helps

I like the Orville Redenbacker 100 calorie pop bags i have them 2 to 3 times a week and they are great. It just helps ya get thru that snack crunch that makes you feel your not on a diet and you are getting that treat. And for the air pop question they make and air popper for popcorn which is also great just put the popcorn in the popper and plug it in. I still prefer the 100 calorie bags because otherwise if your a popcorn lover you can get carried away like I used to

I always steam my corn i find when its boiled it changes the sugar content in the corn you can see it when its boiled and you take it out and its dark yellow. This is only my preference i know that everyone cooks as they enjoy the food so I enjoy it this way. Its especially good when i go pick it out of the garden and then cook it right away the flavor is awsome Have a great day everyone |

I think it depends on you. You and only you know how your body reacts to carb if I eat a half of bagel i get very lathargic and sleepy and my BS shoots up where if i have egg beaters with onions peppers and mushrooms and my coffee my BS stays normal and I seem to have more energy. Also check out the recipes for smoothies on this site there are some great ones that will help you maintain you BS and they are very filling and sometimes I find my self not as hungry at lunchtime. Good luck and i hope you find the balance that works for you. |

I dont work so i am home with my dogs but i give them ice water for the day i take an old bowl or butter dish and freeze water and then in the morning i put it in water bowl and as it melts all day it keeps the water cold. Maybe thats something you could do even though your leaving the a/c on they will have fresh ice water all day. Sometimes if i'm feeling they deserve an extra special treat I will freeze water with broth added veef or chicken and that is a special treat they absolutley love. |

Hi Jackie I just started here also and just by being able to keep track of what i'm eating is a tremendous help and It also helps keep me in check of where i'm at at the end of the day instead of guessing or writing it on paper and then not finish writing or keeping track for some reason its easier on the computer. So good luck to you and i am sure with the insentive you have in that wonderful brave son you have you will be a success. Please thank him for his service to our country. And love the photo of your pooch. They also can be a big help as far as companions. Good luck to you and god bless your son |

| Health & Support | How to fix blood sugar problems | Jul 11 2008 23:03 (UTC) |
3 |
You really need to see a Dr. those are abnormal blood sugars you may be able to get it under control with diet and not need any medication. Thats what i did when i found out i was a diabetic. 290 is very high for a blood sugar. And your Dr. can also give you a lot of printed information on diabetes. Please take care of this diabetes is nothing to mess with take it from one who knows. Good luck at the Dr.s and let us know how you make out |

| Foods | Fast Food suggestions??? | Jul 11 2008 22:49 (UTC) |

I havent been in a fast food restaurant in a very long time, house wife who loves to cook but my husband is a truck driver also trying to watch fat, calories etc. and he does not have a choice but fast food sometimes if hes out for several days no fridge in truck :) I went on line and printed off the nutritional values of the fast food places like macd, burgking, wendys, subway etc. and he carries them in his briefcase and tries to stay within a certain amount of fat and calories for the meal. He always gets a toss salad and if he has a burger no bun or a chicken sandwich no bun. And his weight has been great and his chol. level is perfect. So it can be done if you choose wisely. Print out the nutritional values at the fast food places. Good Luck to ya |

This seems so simple compared to all of your's they sound scrumptious :0) 1 cup unsweetened strawberries 1/2 frozen banana 4 oz. 1 % milk and splenda to taste of sweetness It's very simple but is very thick like a shake great for breakfast or even just a snack. Total cal = 187 p.s. and as a diabetic it keeps BS stable |
