I'm 5'2 1/2 (close enough to 5'3 ;), and I weigh about 105lbs and I wear a size 3 most of the time or 5...depending on who makes it. I have a small waist but wider hips, so sometimes I have to wear a 5 for my hips, and then a belt for the waist!!! |

Original Post by must_lose20: Agreed. For a long while I used to think if I weighed little it meant "good", so when I started seeing higher numbers I would get really depressed, though in REALITY my body had not changed much except gotten a little firmer. But I was still in a numbers-based mindset. I just got to the point where I'm like..."who cares what the scale says, I look good, and my clothes fit, and THAT is what matters". |

Original Post by erindempsey: Muscle weighs more than fat. If you are toned, and they are not, well you are not bigger than they are, you have more muscle so the scale will say more. Scales are not a good indicator of fat percentage. Be proud of that 12o-122 because it means you're in better shape

Interesting reads here. Since I lasted posted, I have gained some muscle mass (which is essentially in the long run, what I wanted because looking toned it hot), and I weigh between 104-110 (I'm 5'2)...it depends on the day it seems..I'm not sure what's up with the scale or what my true weight is. For the record as well, I have never had an ED/starved myseld nor have I ever lost my period. I'm 20 years old, and last year when I had a micro-fit test my body fat was 16.5%. STILL had a period. Always have, always normal and right on time. I've always been a small person, and being at this size is what I am most comfortable with, and I do not, nor have I ever look emanciated. I wear a size 3 not a 00. Everyone truly is different. Numbers are numbers, but if you have never seen a person LIVE before, you cannot make such generalized statements. JMO. I am only speaking for myself, and I cannot diagnose others so I'm not applying this post to the whole thread. |

I'm an atheist. I went from semi-believing as a child, to agnostic as a teen, and recently a full atheist. I respect theists and their opinions though. All I ask is that they don't try to enforce their views and lifestyles on me. |

I won't say "congrats" because let's be honest, periods, SUCK. They are just something that we have to put up with, and seem to come at the most inconvenient of times; vacations, sports games, plays, graduation, sleepovers - you name it. I remember right after I got my first one, I was already calculating how many years until menopause LOL. Mine last for 5 days - always has, though as others say, how long yours will last is up to your body, and you'll find out once your body gets into a rhythm. That might take a few months. When I started mine, I had two really close together, and then it skipped 3 months....no periods. I thought they were gone, and the whole thing had been a fluke. But then they came back and became regular, and I've had them ever since, like clockwork, give or take some delays due to stressing out/change in diet. I've never had bad cramps, so I got lucky there. A little uncomfortable the first and second days, but nothing to keep me from doing my daily activities. I believe my consistent exercise has been the cause for that. Blaoting? Well I've had a period for ten years now, and bloating has just now started to creep up on me. I found that drinking LOTS of WATER helps tremendously. Your body will flush out excess water if it knows it will be getting it on a regular basis. Not enough water intake, and your body will store even more, causing you to bloat. Also, avoid salty foods like the plague. I know that sounds hard, especially during PMS, but you don't want to exacerbate the problem ;). Also, exercise....SWEAT. Sweating helps to get rid of extra bodily fluids as well. Embarrassing stories? Oh yeah, we all have 'em. Let's see. In sixth grade Japanese class, I had white pants on (can you believe it!) and my period had started. Back then, I wasn't so good at tracking, or was really even sure how to, so my periods always seemed to surprise me while in school There was another time that I was at a friend's sleepover....lots of girls around, and we were all playing video games and took terms, and moved down the couch as we got closer to our turn. So my period has just came that day (surprise, surprise) and I only had one pad, and was too embarrassed to ask anyone in the girl's house for one, so I sat there and bled on her furniture Good luck! |

| Young Calorie Counters | Getting Rid of Cravings | Jul 03 2008 18:38 (UTC) |

Cravings are actually my biggest problem. I could lose what I wanted if not for this addiction to all things chocolate and sugary sweet. Usually the craving wins out, not the other way around. It's like I don't feel "complete" until I have it....lots of it. I damn the FDA for this. I actually must be allergic to the food, because of the high amount of cravings it causes. |

Original Post by svkas09: From what I have read, you should be taking in no less than 1200 calories (any less than that is basically starvation mode), because that is what one needs just to live and function as a human. If you are doing exercise, I would suggest taking in around 1500-1700 a day depending on how much you do. I'm no expert and these are mrerely estimates, but this seems to be the most common range I have seen. Plus, we are short, so we don't need as many cals as someone who is 5'10 |

Original Post by thebledx3: I'm 20. This is the first time in my life I have ever GAINED weight. I used to come home from high school, eat mac n cheese as a snack, maybe do some rollerblading for 30 minutes on most days, and not gain a pound. Last summer I also lost a few more lbs and ended up in the 90's because I began aerboics - something I had never done before - and I was not even actively trying to lose weight. I didn't even notice how much weight I had lost until someone pointed it out to me. Then over the winter I became a vegetarian and I really wasn't prepared, so I ate a lot of cheese in place of the meat, and did next to no exercise and put on some lbs. Now while I know I am not fat, or anywhere near overweight, I just want to shed 5lbs to feel 100% comfortable, and get rid of that little extra flab...mainly on my back...why it's *there*, I'll never know! So far I have gotten my legs and arms back into shape for the most part, and I'm happy about that because leg muscles burn a lot of calories, and things ust look better when they are toned |

Hi I'm 5'2 1/2 and 105lbs and I want to get back to where I was last summer at an even 100. I feel the most comfortable there, because being so small, a little fat goes a looong way, and it's mostly concentrated in my back - so now I have this bra overhang stuff I never had before and it's bothering me. Also, my jeans are a little tight, and anymore inches and I'll be in the next size. So 5lbs by the end of the month or early Aug. would be great for me. I'm signing up at my local gym tomorrow to have access to machines that I don't have at home. I usually do 45 minutes of morning aerobics, and that has targeted my legs, and arms, and my stomach, so-so, but I really think I need more advanced machines to help me along the rest of the way. What do you say?...I'm a little shorter, but I'm pretty much in the same ballpark! :D |
