Hey all, I would like to join as well... Age: 21 Height: 5'4 SW: 147 CW: 137 GW: 118
I've recently just been maintaining the same weight at 137, but I believe ive gained muscle and lost fat, because my body is more toned overall, and my face appears skinnier. I am the type of person who has trouble maintaining a 700 calorie defecit. I eat a lot of junk, but I rarely ever eat more than I burn. I work out 7 days a week, for 2.5 hours a day. I would love anyone with the same stats as me to add me as a friend, and track their weight loss with me:) |

| Weight Loss | Working out EVERYDAY? | Mar 31 2009 14:04 (UTC) |

If you're body feels like it can work out on your "rest day" and you enjoy working out.. just do it! I work out 7 days a week for 2 hours a day. Mind you, this can't fit into everybody's schedule.... but I try extremely hard to work it in to mine. I am a student, and I have a couple of part time jobs So depending on what my day's like, I make time to go whenever. You can find me at the gym at 11am.... you can find me there at 11 pm. I feel like if i take days off... I'm a the risk of "getting lazy" and just never going back. I've literally worked out everyday since Feb 14th with a friend of mine who is training me. So I do an hour of weight training with him Day 1 Legs + Shoulders, Day 2 Chest + Back, Day 3 Arms, Day 4 Abs (this I do on my own for 20 min) and then immediately after I do an hour of cardio... which is usually running. And this is in constant rotation. After a month and a half I have no complaints about feeling too sore, or in pain or anything. I feel great! and in shape! So just listen to your body! and do what you wanna do. Everyone is different. We can't all take every generic piece of advice to heart. |

| Motivation | Eating when bored!!!!! Stop the madness!! | Feb 26 2009 13:33 (UTC) |

I used to be REALLY big on eating when I'm bored and alone. So now in order to avoid those extra munchies, I simply go to the gym where I obviously can't eat and spend time with my new friends I have made there (and it's a great excuse to sneak in a workout, I find myself staying for a few hours because I get so into it!).... Or If I'm at home and really fiending for a snack, I just pick up the phone and call a friend (you can't eat and talk at the same time!). I find that the days I spend the whole day surrounded by friends and family and outside of the house, are the days I eat the best because I'm too busy enjoying the social interaction to think about eating. I also used to find that when I'd munch, I wasn't consciously thinking about the extra calories in the food I was eating... infact sometimes I simply forgot I was on a diet or watching my weight. Now I keep an ongoing tally of calories consumed in my head and I assign each and every item I eat a calorie value based on what I remember from CC rounded UP to the nearest 100. This way I never over eat. You gotta take control of the situation.... If you find it's only 3om yet you've already eaten 800-1000 calories, make sure you make plans so you dont end up bored and alone and clearing out your pantry. |

I'm giving up meat (except for fish) and chocolate (including chocolate milk, nutella, etc). I've given up meat every year for 40 days without a problem... but every year I attempt to give up chocolate I fail, so hopefully the 5th time's the charm. |

v_avila if you're losing inches, who cares what the scale reads! i personally wouldn't care if i weighed 200 lbs but was a size 6 with toned arms and legs (impossible i know). keep doing what your doing! it sounds like its working to me! alle, congrats on the tremendous weight loss and the new pair of pants! i can imagine how satisfied you must feel! you're well on your way to actually losing 25 lbs for christmas!
im proud to say ive maintained my weight under 140lbs, but not by much. this week i will admit though, i did eat out on 2 occassions, once at boston pizza (where i had a stromboli... looked up the calories after and the thing had 975 Cal in it!! holy moly!) nd then chicken wings (the worst, i know, shame on me!) at Crabby Joes. But i'm making exceptions because i had 2 great meals, with great friends i hadn;t seen all summer, so it was worth it. aside from that, ive been really busy at school and with my 2 jobs. i jsut realized today that i manage 30 hours of work a week, plus im a full time student taking 6 courses. i didnt realize how much in over drive i really am. you would think i'd be losing weight because i must nothave time to eat, but instead i jsut eat crappy take out, or a lot of carbs (like granola bars) which are bad for me.
anyways, im jsut gonna post my weight up now...

Hey everybody! I've been really bad lately and haven't been weighing in on Fridays. I just never have the time because im trying to balance 2 jobs PLUS 6 courses this semester!!! I haven't been losing ANY weight in the last few weeks (though this is totally expected because I haven't been moving at all or REALLY watching my diet), BUT the good news is I haven;t been gaining weight either! Yesterday was the start of a new week for me and I decided that I was gonna take my weight loss seriously! I went o the treadmill yesterday and today plus did a bit of free weights, and I feel great. I ate an absolutely fabulous and filling breakfast of cantaloupe, banana and this awesome yogurt that only has 100 Cal per cup. I'm also so proud of myself because I fended off my Oreo caving yesterday. Lately I've been eating Oreos like crazy (I'm horrible I know), one sitting I even ate 8! thats almost 500 calories!! But no more, I'm not going to ban them, I'll jsut allow myself 2 a day as a treat if they fit in my daily caloric allotment. Anyways, just wanted to share whats been going on with me, and give a little explanation of why I havent been losing as much as some of the rest of you! BTW, congrats to all of you... I've finally found some time to read through your posts and some of you are right on track and doing amazing! You guys are my inspiration!!

leslie! thanks so much for the tips and the motivation! i didn't even realize that diet sodas expand your stomach, although i don't usually drink soda (regular or diet), i'll definitely keep that in mind. i just feel like my work hours are preventing me from losing weight. i have two jobs and thus work 15 hours a day, which means im too tired to cook, or work out and end up eating unhealthy food. i want a salad so bad, i havent had one in soo long. hopefully with the school year starting, i will be working a lot less and can actually get back to running. i used to be so goood. but anyways, thanks for all the support guys. i feel like without this group i'd still be stuck back up at 147 (or more), even though im not actively losing weight atleast im maintaining my loss :) |

Hey guys! congrats to those of you who posted a weight-loss last friday! I myself have had such an exhausting week with literally 18 hours workdays, i haven't found the time to weight myself on the scale. I would normally post it now, but i woke up this morning famished and at breakfast before i had the chance to weight myself. so I'm just going to hold out until this coming friday to post my weight. See you all friday!
PS. I was soo happy this week because my coworkers and relatives have all been commenting on my weight-loss! yayyy! |

hey guys. just gonna check in. i havent weighed myself yet this week... and to be honest, i dont want to. i've eaten horribly over the weekend. i've literally had pizza everyday for the past 4 days. it's just so hard working and renovating to worry about eating healthy. everytime i remember to eat im already starving so taking the time to make a decent meal seems out of the question. im gonna try eating almonds or something next time to tide me over until i manage to scrounge something healthy up. tomorrow i finish work early so i hope i can get home and go for a jog or even just a walk. i havent CC'd in such a long time, im afraid to see what my caloric intake was today but im gonna calculate it, so i am extra motivated to exercise tomorrow. anyways, thats whats been going on with me. im hoping for atleast another pound drop by friday. |

Hey guys! I completely understand some of your frustrations. I'm grateful to be losing on average a pound a week, but I really wanna try and speed things up. I'm itching to get into the 130's and stay there. This week my lowest was 139.2, but the next day I was back up to just over 140. Granted, last night I indulged and had 2 springrolls (bad) and a bowl of ice cream (VERY BAD). I feel like I do so well all week, then once Thursday night hits, the night before weight in, I do something that bumps my weigh-in weight back up. I feel like next Thursday I will be back on this forum, looking for some motivation to stay healthy and not sabotage the rest of the weeks hard work. On another unrelated note.... the one thing I'm totally proud of this week is deciding to once and for all put my shopping addictions to rest. I actually went "shopping" with a couple of friends yesterday, but all I did was browse... I didn't actually buy anything... not even food! I really need to take this saving thing seriously because I'm graduating in the spring and will have big expenses coming my way. So yay for me! Age: 21 SW: 147 (pre-challenge) GW: 120

Hey guys, I'm SO sorry for my late reply but I went camping this weekend and left really early Friday morning and worked really late Thursday night, so I didn't have enough time to make this post. I see a lot of us have lost a couple pounds! yayy! Good for you! I haven't lost as much as I wanted to this week, though I would say eating burgers and pasta, drinking beer and not enough water while camping have contributed to my minimal weight loss. I'm hoping for a big drop this week. Last week my lowest weight on Wednesday, I believe, was 139.6 lbs. I was soo happy to break past the 140's, but now I'm back at 141. Booo! Here's for getting back to the 130's soon!! Age: 21 SW: 147 (pre-challenge) GW: 120
Total loss for the challenge: 0.8 lbs |

Hey colourful - whatever you do, don't let something uncontrollable like that TOTM discourage you from your weight loss journey. I was going through the same thing last week when we started the challenge and by watching what I ate and drinking a lot of water, ended up maintaining my weight for the week. Now that It's over, I've lost a couple of pounds this week and I'm too excited about this to wait until tomorrow's official weigh-in to announce, but I've finally broken through the 140's and into the 130's!!!! Yesssss! Honestly, watching and recording every morsel of food you put in your mouth works! Moral of the story is... if you ignore those pesky cravings, stay within your calorie limit and drink a lot of water... expect to see above average weight loss the week after you TOTM. :) |

i personally wouldn't consider sundried tomatoes that healthy. they are pretty much slices of tomatoes that have been seasoned and then roasted in the oven (so they turn kinda raisin looking) then they are packed into an air tight jar filled to the brim with olive oil until served. they are one of my favourite things in the world because they pack so much flavour... unfortunately they also pack a wallop of calories too, so i try and avoid them. (they're soo good on pizza!) |

Hey all! Just wanted to share with you a little something I experienced yesterday... I was working a long shift... 2pm - midnight. I ate my lunch/dinner around 5, but by 10 I was starving and SO bored I figured, what the heck... I'm going to buy a bag of chips. So I walk over to the store, grab a bag of Cheetos and get in line. As I'm in line, I flip over the bag and look at the nutritional info... 480 freaking calories! Luckily, the guy in front of me was having issues with his transaction, so I used the delay as a sign to drop the bag and leave the store immediately! I overcame my temptation and I'm soo happy about it! Just wanted to share my little story and I hope some of you think of this when you're about to give in ;) |

| Weight Loss | Do you tend to gain more weight in the summer or the winter months? | Jul 31 2008 15:29 (UTC) |
16 |
I normally gain so much more weight in the winter (hopefully this won't happen this year because I'm on CC). The cold air drives me indoors where I don't exercise much and being indoors all the time drives me to boredom which causes me to eat, eat, eat. During the winter time I'm also in school, which means I'm studying, which means I'm also snacking on unhealthy foods... or it means I go to way too many keggers and parties and drink too much alcohol. In the past, over the winter I would usually gain about 10-15 pounds...and (almost) lose it all again over the summer (without any conscious effort), except for a couple pounds here and there, which has led to my overall weight gain in the past 5 years. |

Hey, you could also try making 'Moujadra' which is a Lebanese lentil dish. My mom usually makes this dish so I don't know her personal recipe off hand however I went ahead and found something similar online: It's a really simple meal. My mom usually serves it in a shallow bowl and on top of it she puts a basic salad (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and white vinegar/lemon) and a bit of balkan plain yogurt. It's these toppings that make the dish taste sooo good! |

Yes! I'm going to join too! Friday weigh-ins work for me as well. I just began my weight loss journey about a month ago, and I like the sound of losing just over a pound a week. It seems doable. Here are my stats: Age: 21 SW: 147 CW: 142 GW: 120 This works out to exactly one pound a week for me! Can I do it?!? I KNOW I CAN. WE ALL CAN! Good luck to everyone in the group, I look forward to checking in with all of you every week!

| Fitness | Hand Swelling? | Jul 11 2008 15:02 (UTC) |

I just recently went on a backpacking trip throughout Europe and we obviously did A LOT of walking during the day. At the end of the night, both my friend's hands and my hands would be completely swollen. Maybe if you've just started doing this Wii program (just as we had just started walking 10-15 miles a day), your circulation system is still getting used to the activity, and pooling blood in your hands. But yes, I would have to agree with the above poster and say it probably isn't anything to worry about. |

| Fitness | Will running make my legs thicker? | Jul 10 2008 14:57 (UTC) |

On a related note...
Which exercises most effectively slim down your thighs and calves? I already eat less calories (1500) than I burn (about 2000). I run about 2.5K a day in 17 minutes, but so far I can go any longer than that so long distance running is kinda out of the question for now. My calves are giant (can't wear knee high boots) and my thighs do the dreaded thigh rub. Will pilates slim my legs down? What else can I do to attack this problem area?
Thanksss! |
