okay...I know its not weigh in day, but I am back up to 200 from being stuck at 199 the last two weeks! I hate that number. Not sure whats going on here, calories are good, ranging from 1400 to 1600, went to the gym 3 times this week and did 45min of strength training and went on 3 walks around 5 miles each time. My water is good, 80 to 120 ounces a day. This is so frustrating!! |

Talk about major frustration!!! I got on the scale and I was back at 200!!! God I hate that number! I really don't get it though, worked out 3 times this week, went for a couple of long walks, 5miles plus, and I still show a gain...ugghh. My calories have been a little higher cause I was always bordering on the 1200-1300 mark, so I decided to up to around 1500, easier to manage. Do you guys think thats it? Should I drop down to 1400, I'm 5'8.5" so I burn a ton just living. Sorry all...just a rant, had to get it out...lol |

hey, its your life, your an adult, no one is getting hurt, your not doing anything illegal. I didn't read the entire thread, but I assume you are both single. If you personally have no issues, I don't see a problem with it. If your questioning yourself, than obviously you have a problem with it. |

Definition of Native American per the Glossary of Affirmative Action: * A person having origin in any of the original peoples of North America and who maintains cultural identification through tribal affiliation or community recognition. *indigenous or original inhabitants of the Americas prior to European arrival The term Native American is not just an "American" word. We use it here in Canada as well. I cannot use the term First Nation, because it does not include the Metis and Inuit. I probably could of used the term Aboriginal, but someone would of found fault with that too. Native American is not an offensive term, its just a generic term. Not really sure why there is an arguement about this anyway. My reference was only made to describe my upbringing in generic terms, without having to define the various tribes. If I was speaking to a different crowd or a different topic, I may have been a little bit more specific. But this was only to communicate where I grew up and how I did not have the ability to interact with any other race but my own. |

..or Aboriginal...however, Native American is not just an american term...my band stretches across Canada and the US, and we are generally referred to as Native Americans. At the end of the day, that has nothing to do with my statement above. |

Question about eating clean? Is bread eating clean? I have trouble getting in all my calories for the day (1400), so for a snack I'll have an apple with a piece of light rye bread with low salt peanut butter. This comes in at about 240 cals. Is this eating clean? |

yourfavoriteblonde:...ooh, I feel for you!!! That would be near near impossible to log! I guess, if you can avoid sampling, or just take one bite would be the best bet. Make sure you get lots of exercise in and hopefully you will maintain for the week. Who knows, with the increase in calories, it may even jolt your system and make it work even harder...could be down a bit by the end of the week...bright side? Good Luck!!! |

My 10 yo son, is the sweetest little boy around. He's been questioning me, wondering how my weight loss is going and helping me find healthy foods to eat. Last night, I got home from work late, very long day and I had planned to plop my arse down on the couch. The sweetie or pain in the butt that he is, fine line I think, says, "Mommy, lets go for a walk, it'll give you more energy". How can I say no. We started walking at around 7:00pm and didn't get home until 10:00pm. He gets in the door, goes to mapmyrun and yells out...we did 8.37 km (5.2miles)!!! I was shocked!! This little guy, has a muscle disease, where his muscles are too short for his bones. So sports and most physical activities have really been out of the question for him. We've always walked together, but I have never pushed it, cause it can get painful for him. But lately, with the nice weather, we've been walking and swimming more. I was so proud of him, and what does he do...he comes and gives me a big hug, and says, "Mommy, I'm so proud of you, you'll be Daisy Duke before you know it!"...lol...(I would love to have the body of Jessica Simpson in Dukes of Hazzard). How sweet is that!!! Just had to share my story, it has put a smile on my face for the rest of the day...however, he is currently mapping out our next walk...wants to do 10km tonight...lol! |

okay...so today I had one of those down days, not in the mood to do anything! I called in sick, stayed in my robe and ate all day, or so I thought!!! When I added everything up, I ate 1575 calories, but I was eating all day. I really think its because I don't have anything unhealthy in the house anymore and I really had no choice! This was a huge eye opener so I got dressed, grabbed my son and the dog and went for a 2 hour walk down by the lake! I now feel revived, only a little down...stupid ex boyfriend (remind me to tell you that story) and ready to start tomorrow with a fresh attitude!!! |

I personally like the second set except for your upper body. You are obviously pear shaped and I assume you were working on getting the bottom part "just right". What I would recommend is do some weight training, get some muscle on you and you'll find that you are going to fill out in all the right places and not look so emancipated. Adding muscle will put a few pounds on the scale, which I think you do need, however, it'll only be healthy pounds!!! Get to a healthy BMI by adding muscle...nothing wrong with that! |

Hey Jenn...too be honest I think its a bit of both. I've tried running on a treadmill and have lasted for about 3 minutes before feeling like my lungs were on fire. They definately give out before my body. When do you run? I figure if I run first thing in the morning, before I've had a cigarette I may be able to handle better...! |

My 2 cents...I grew up in Northern Canada, where the only other race other than white was Native American. We moved to Windsor, which is right on the border of Detroit when I was 10. Other than TV, that was my first "sighting" of a black person, mind you, my first "sighting" of an other culture than my own...french roman catholic and native american. My parents were ignorant and bigots, not mean people, but very old school, in the sense, you stick to your own. I remember wandering around my neighbourhood the first week of living there and seeing a black girl. I must admit, I was astonished, curious and a little bit afraid...Obviously I was staring and she didn't like it one bit...I got my A$$ kicked big time, police were called, ambulance, the whole bit. Well, needless to say, my views on blacks, were rather skewed by that young girl. I went to a predominatly white catholic high school and stuck to "my own". With blacks still being a mystery to me. When I finished high school, I went to university in Toronto, then worked in London, England for 6 years. That is where I really grew up, and realized that ones skin colour, religion, race, means absolutely nothing. I have met some rude, obnoxious white girls and some sweet, kind black girls. I am 36 now, well travelled, well educated and really don't give 2 "poops" what colour you are. Your race is not going to dictate your behaviour. My sons godparents are black, and yeah, I am still "ignorant" when it comes to people and their traditions and religions, but now I'm not afraid to ask. Now, I will not sit in the dark and have stereotypical thoughts or comments. My apologies if my opening paragraph has offended anyone, I wanted to provide some history as to why I thought the way I did. :-) |

Hi All!!! I'm in! I am 36 years old, a single mom of a 10 year old boy. I'm 5'8.5" and weigh 199lbs. I just cleared the 200's and boy did I do my happy dance!! My thirties have flown by, and I must admit, I'm kind of looking forward to my 40's. The last six months have been hell, due to my now exboyfriend, but thats another story!!! My highest weight was 215lbs but for the last 5 years I stayed around the 210 mark. I had a prolasped uterus, so everytime I jumped, coughed, laughed, pretty much moved, I would pee myself!!! lol... In the beginning of April I had a hysterectomy and a bladder reconstruction. As soon as I got the okay from the doctor, early June, I started going to the gym. Now, I can't weight for my gym days!!! I spend a lot of time walking, but I really want to start running. Unfortunately, I am a smoker, and I know I'm not quite in the frame of mind to quit, rather get fit and lose weight first, then I will try to quit. Hopefully my metabolism and fitness will prevent any major weight gain. Are there any other smokers here? How have you managed with building your stamina. I have no issues walking or weight lifting, running...I struggle!!! |

I use Almay TLC makeup. Almay is made by Revlon. Its minerals based and Almay is awesome for sensitive skin. I can't wear anything from L'Oreal or Cover Girl or I break out like mad. Everything Almay has is hypoallergenic and mostly natural! |

Morning All! Welcome to the first week of weigh in!!! Considering this was started midweek, do we want to use these numbers as our starting weight? I don't know, just a thought! SW-198 CW-198 lbs to go-30!!! I really thought I was going to have a loss this week, but I went to the gym yesterday, spent an hour doing weights, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I am always heavier the day after the gym, the whole muscle retaining water thing I guess. My normal weigh in days are Mondays, cause my weekends are generally very active, so maybe I 'll see it then!!! Good Luck All! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Does inducing labor cause the contractions to be more painful? | Jul 11 2008 23:55 (UTC) |

I've only had one child, so I have nothing to compare it to!!! But at the end of the day, childbirth is different for everyone. Some had great labours, others awful one. My delivery was so awful, I was never able to have children again. My son was born 3 weeks early weighing in at 11.2 lbs. My water broke and contractions started and then they stopped. I was induced, and nothing happened. 24 hours later I was induced again, and the contractions came on fast and furious. It was back labour, so I asked for an epi...unfortunately I wasn't dialating (sp) so they topped up the pitocin and the epi. I vowed I would deliver vaginally, but thinking back I should of gone the C-Section route. He got stuck in the canal, and they had to use the vacuum to get him out. I tore internally and externally, and my uterus fell over. I just recently had a hysterectomy and a bladder reconstruction at 35 years of age. Would I have done anything different? Not sure if I could of other than asked for a C-Section. Everyones different, listen to your body, listen to your doctor...thats all anyone can do!!! |

Thanks for the response guys...I know you can't drop below 1200, and I know the reasons why, I have no intention of doing so...so no worries. This is why I see a nutritionist and a my doctor. I am doing it correctly and under guidance. I was just wondering what the impact vitamins have on a diet. It was only a question. |

Hey tinka! I'm from Canada too eh? lol...Richmond Hill...the burbs of Toronto. I have a lot of friends that have left here and moved out west, I'm planning a trip there for New Years. Should be at my goal weight by then!!! I love all this tatoo talk, I've got one and I want to warn you guys, think twice about where you get it, especially if you haven't had kids. Funny story, well kind of...I was 16. rebellious stage...lol, lied about my age, and went and got a tatoo to cover my appendix scar. Well, moved ahead a few years and I'm pregnant. My tattoo was like one of the pictures on a balloon once its blown up and then released....not the whole tatoo, just half of it. You should see it now!!! Half of it has stretch marks running through it, and is warped, the other half is perfectly fine...20 years later. Yeah, when your 16, you don't think about those things!!! I am looking forward to getting another tattoo, its my present to me for getting to goal weight. I'm thinking of getting a tramp stamp...lol! |

This is exiciting!!! woo hoo!!! I am super motivated right now because I just cleared the 200's, so I think I can really get into this. Here are my stats: Height: 5' 8.5" CW-198 GW by Halloween-168 (wow, only 18 to my total GW) GW-150 WOC-I go to the gym three days a week and do 45 min of strength training. I'm telling you, I have tried the exercise thing for weightloss before, and its a lot more noticeable doing the strength training. I love it, totally becoming a gym rat! I also walk, 2-3 times a week, fast pace for 30-45 min. ABOUT ME-I am a 36 yo single mom of a 10 year old boy, so I really can't blame the baby fat anymore!!! I work as an Account Manager for a Cosmetic firm. I have one dog, Emma; a bichon fraise... COSTUME-I must admit, I haven't dressed up in years, halloween has always been focused on my son, so I don't have a clue what I want to be. Something that I look HOT in, thats all...lol |
