I think that when you reach your goal there isn't a huge danger of becoming a binger, because you've been there done, done that. For some it is the only way to gain weight, and I know I'm desperate to eat normally so that will motivate me to have healthy eating habits. Erica you know you're eating enough to gain when you need to go lie down after a meal! Again good luck everyone xo |

My desire to be ideal eventually took priority over my health and life, and I'm currently trying to gain enough to be healthy again- which may be more than the ideal considered by some younger counters from browsing threads (5'5", 128). The problem is that I often to associate my happiness/ confidence with the way I look, and so do many people I'm sure. I think women/ females in particular have created this ideal, and we end up competing and encouraging each other to fulfill it. Funny thing is, a lot of guys don't give a damn about a couple of pounds- as long as there's boobs. So why do we care so much? |

you could: make a veg sandwich/wrap night before if fish eating vegetarian, tuna + salad is very easy to put together make a bean/pasta salad or rice/noodles with veggies and separate into containers soups are always good if you have a thermos, plenty of healthy/veg recipes around hope those help, school canteens suck |

Hey, I have about the same stats as you and I got nowhere on 2000 a day! I'm now between 3000-4000, sedentary, to make a difference, though for you it depends how fast you'd like to gain. If you can, it's best just to eat and keep eating without thinking too much about exact calories Good luck |

I'm pretty certain that I range between small/medium frame, so 22 still seems a little excessive- as aiming that little bit higher seems like it will motivate me to lose weight in the future, rather than getting to a weight I feel comfortable (and healthy at) then maintaining around there. Hopefully doctors look more at the other measurements of health though like heart rate, and my situation won't call for quite that high. Confusing |

I understand she wants to be cautious, and I think my apprehension is 90% ED related, but hopefully either that will go away, or I'll be healthy before 22 (menstruation is fine, it's just I've still got a resting heart rate of 42..) Thanks for all your quick replies, I feel better about it already! |

Hey belacqua, I'm in the same situation and find myself doing the exact same thing! You know in your head it's ok to eat this stuff, but it feels wrong just standing in the pantry while no one's looking and eating like a maniac. I find the best way to deal with this is to take the food you want away from the kitchen and eat it on a plate, sitting down, like a meal. You still get the calories you need to gain but mentally its not quite so exhausting. I'm not sure about you but I think the reason I 'binge eat' is because I still don't eat enough calorie dense foods during the day, and have to catch up later at night, so maybe increasing your set meals will help? good luck! xo |

thanks heaps for the support guys! tessafairy I'm aussie too, had to do some crazy calculations for those numbers hah, but as a fellow metric follower you probably understand that magical 50kg number. all those replies are really helpful, it's good to hear ED recoverers/recovered with normal perceptions. anyway every day its easier to think screw you, its just a number, fingers crossed. xo |

I know exactly what you mean, but it's nothing huge to worry about: the doctors I've seen say bingeing when your trying to gain weight is normal, the natural "I'm full feeling" is taken over because your body is desperately trying to get healthy again (basically you're stomach's satisfied and full, but your body isn't yet). They say that once you're at a healthy weight again this won't happen because it's no longer needed, and it will be much easier to stick to normal eating patterns. But it's still scary! My heart races too and I get really hot. Gaining isn't all the fun I thought it would be |

Thanks for sharing, sorry I tend to ramble hah.. but my main goal from that post was to just get whoever reads it to have a good look about their motivations, and to recommend sharing their weight loss goals with their close friends and family to avoid an unhealthy progression. |

thanks everyone! I think I might just pop into the supermarket and buy a big tin of splenda, cant cope with all the mathematical measuring. here's the recipe: Ingredients for Low Calorie Red Earthquake Cake 1 cup of all purpose flour 1 cup of Splenda 1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda 1 teaspoon of baking powder 3/4 cup of skim milk 1/4 cup of vegetable oil 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract 1 whole egg + 1 egg whiteCombine wet ingredients in a separate bowl from dry cake ingredients. Pour wet ingredients into dry and incorporate. Mix well - for about 2 minutes. Bake in a cake pan in a preheated 350 degree oven until inserted toothpick comes out clean - about 30 minutes. Our low calorie cake recipe for Red Earthquake Cake contains about 900 calories for the entire cake. |

being left handed is basically the best. sure certain kitchen implements and cutting cloth (argh it just never works) give us a rough time, but only around 10% of the world is kooky handed, so hooray!

| I get exactly the same thing! but they say eating breakfast starts up your metabolism, but then I'm hungry by 10 o'clock- if I ate nothing I could go until lunch for sure. as soon as I go to the pantry and eat something when I am hungry, I cant stop even when I know I'm full. | |||
