I'm a bit annoyed with myself for slacking off on the exercise front! I need to get back on the wagon, I'll start tommorow, I need to remember how good I feel after I've had a workout...

There is no good reason to eat lots of salt, and simply "sweating it out" is not going to make a lot of difference if you are consuming too much.

Weight Loss Weight loss or dehydration? Jul 18 2008

It may well be dehydration because alcohol can make you lose quite a bit of water so I wouldn't bet against it, but I'd also say that even if it is, you are probably quite close to dropping down to 199 anyway.

Motivation Why do I feel this way? Please help! Jul 14 2008

Look, one thing 99% of women have to accept is that there is ALWAYS going to be someone more attractive than you walking around.

But think, what do the 99% of us who are not models do? Do we curl up into a ball and die? Do we not go out with that guy because potentially he could have a more attractive girlfriend? Do we not dress up and go out?

Thinking that way will get you nothing but unhappiness.

Make the most out of what you have,  - you know that old saying "accentuate the positive eliminate the negative". I personally think from your photo you are a very attractive young lady and you should be proud you look as good as you do.

You have a great figure, you're young and you have your whole life ahead of you to get out there and have fun.

Like I said, there are millions of women out here, most of us are not lucky enough to be walking the catwalks of Paris, but also remember - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sounds cheesy but it's true. Not everyone will like you - I happen to have had a particularly hideous blind date with a guy who I never heard from again! Did I let that get me down? No! It was his loss, my dream guy's out there somewhere!

Most importantly, don't compare yourself to anyone else. It is a futile exercise that will just upset anyone who tries it...I for example wish I was prettier, I wish I had clearer skin, a smaller nose, a nicer figure. Think about the fact that you are more fortunate than some others in many ways, there a plenty of people who would give their eye teeth to have what you have.

Take care of yourself, and make the most out of every gift you have been given, and don't doubt yourself for a minute longer!

Weight Loss I don't think I look like the weight I am at 5'6.... what weight would you guess me to be (pics)? Jul 14 2008

140 something-ish, possibly between 135-140

However EVERYONE carries weight differently so it is impossible to say for sure. I think it is better to judge how you look to yourself in the mirror and just to use the scale as a guidance.

Health & Support Can constipation make me gain 6 pounds in 4 days?!? Jul 13 2008

You can retain quite a bit of water when you are constipated, most of the above advice will help you - I know many people who swear by prune juice, and some who swear by nuts!

But on an (unrelated to constipation) note can I just point out to other people who may read this that there is no "correct" time that people should have a bowel movement.

It may be everyday, it may be every three days, it may be three times a day, it may be once a week.

The right amount is what is regular for YOU. Its just that I have seen so many people who have worked themselves into a frenzy about their bowel movements on this forum, and have heard of people who have damaged their bowels by overuse of laxatives etc. from the worry of "regularity". Just ensure your body is sticking to it's own routine and you'll be fine.

Health & Support Why is this happening? Jul 13 2008

Ok, well in my opinion it may also be an "irritable bladder" and there are a variety of causes...

One of the most common is when people use the toilet too often and when their bladder is not full. In this case the bladder wall begins to contract involuntarily and therefore there is an urge to go even when there is only a trickle of urine inside it or sometimes nothing at all. The bladder wall can also contract and release urine (in some people).

If your doctor rules out an infection (which usually presents pain) then this is something to consider.

It's very easy to resolve and usually the only thing that's required is some bladder training!

Like Jesrowe and Pipanchew I agree you should keep up the treadmill for fact alone that it is a weight-bearing exercise which is vital in the battle against osteoporosis in later life.

Weight Loss How often do you jump on the scale? Jul 09 2008

I'm the same, I hop on once or twice a day mostly in the mornings and sometime before I go to bed for some unknown reason.

I really shouldn't because when I feel I am working hard and I don't see a change in the scale it makes me feel so sad...it ruins my whole day. I know that there are other benefits to workingout and eating the right foods, but it is oh-so-easy to lose perspective.

That said, what's annoying me right now is the fact that everytime I get on, it goes down by one and then back up again - that is so annoying!

Hi again Cassie and everyone in the club! Two days to go before first way in!

I have been working extra hard this week, so hard I am absolutely worn out from yesterdays workout. The last 10 or so pounds are really the hardest part of weight loss I think but we all just have to stay upbeat and motvated and we'll get there!

Weight Loss Drinking water to lose weight! Jul 09 2008

I agree with above in terms of the "no magic number". For me certainly I don't need more than 4 or so cups of water per day at the most on a normal day. People also forget that much of your water intake comes from food also.

I thought the above was an interesting article on this matter.

I had to join when I saw this!

I'm currently 5'6 and 143, my goal is about 130, but I'd love to get down to 133 by mid August.

Beware however, I will be posting often, so get used to my chatting!
