I notice my calories are bouncing too too much around my 1600 per day limit.  Result no weight loss. Is anyone else finding that the daily limit is a HARD LIMIT not to be exceeded else your body will bounce up with weight?

Also found that one to two hours walking, is way better than 1/2 hour running.  No pain and body seems to like it the next day.

Melkor - thanks for being very positive about how to do this the best way.  Great ideas and feedback.  For the fad contious (like me) I hear that these large dead weight exercises are getting used.  Forgeting what they are called.

Todeinotaton - this is all good stuff about the original discussion of what is wrong or right with the article.  Thanks for contributing

So is Cardio - for health only (need to keep from having heart-lungs-brain get colesteral, and be able to handle the shocks and healing of major medical procedures

and strength training - for beauty only as it builds skeletal muscular strength but will not help much for typical medical issues as you age.

??

The study was too small and short to be significant.  They only followed 200 women and only for 2 years.  Compare that to the original studies of cholesterol with 100,000 test subjects for 20 years.

But have you got 20 years to wait for that long term study to show results?

CAwilder - saw your note about running.  I too am bothered by others as they zip up hills and I struggle.  Trying to loose weight to run better.  Yesterday was exhausting as I think I overdid it.  I struggled to walk home.

Weight Loss Weight Loss SLOW - Question about BMR. Jul 12 2008
11:24 (UTC)

I was thinking of what would happen if you ate your calories of just the WEIGHT WATCHERS CORE foods.  Would that get you further, and change your lifestyle eating pattern.  Or maybe you could look at other techniques like drinking more fluids.

Routinely having a deficit over 1000 is not a good idea. Keep it at 1000 at the highest.

Good luck.

When you say deficit, you mean anything below my calculated BMR?

1)  A few people mention that the phosphoric acid in the soda is a bad effect on the stomach and body chemestry.  I just do not know as the stomach contains HydroChloric Acid and secrets it internally.  So how bad is adding acid to acid?

2)  Others say that the sugery taste causes insulin to be made in your system.  That overload makes you more hungry and more in a calorie deficit.  But this might be untrue as exercise would do the same thing.

Comments?

OKAY, so I should be in REDUCED CALORIE mode even if I go down to 2000 per day eaten.  It would take a few days if not a week to get into STARVATION MODE.

Okay what do I need to calculate with my BMR?

Given 231 pounds, 6 foot 2 inches, 46 years old male.

result BMR is 2132.   For moderate exercise maintanance calories I multiply by 1.375 to get 2931 calories??   That is my daily needed to keep at my weight?  Else anything less and I loose weight right?

If I go down to 1600 calories per day, I loose lots of weight, maybe? Is that the limit for food, and after that I need to exercise to loose more weight?

Foods So am I the only one that needs a list of 0 calorie snacks.....I NEED THEM!!! Jul 09 2008

Be careful of the ZERO CAL INSULAN TRIGGER that good tasting foods with zero calories cause.  Just started reading about this.

Eat food that has no calories and your body puts out insulan for non-foods.  Drops the sugar in your body and makes you more hungry.  Causes acid to fill your stomach, but no sugar to mix with, so you body does not digest this as normal (slows down to digest, as lack of chemical triggers to move food through.

I have no suggestions.

I might try this myself.  Looks like an easy routine, but not sure it will keep the pounds off.  People in general will surely burn some calories after not having done exercise in a while.

In a month (30 days) when I was younger (20s) I lost maybe ten pounds just by starting to exercise.  You body adapts and burns faster while young.  Just be careful of STARVATION MODE and eat enough.

You could also look at

to compare.  Not sure if this is the same database as CC or CK.

Health & Support Bloating? Jul 09 2008

what happens is that your valve at the bottom of your stomach is refusing to open.  It could happen as a reaction to the food you are eating, or it could be from some other factor.

Read this:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php? t=710797

Good information that is not too much into selling herbal cures, or too much into cure yourself.  Beware of trusting doctors, as they are the best; but not perfect in any way.  Keep a notebook of the foods that seem to cause more bloating, the foods that never cause bloating.

Yes a typo I meant to say 231 pounds.  I corrected that in the first post.

Weight Loss I feel like no matter what I do......... Jul 09 2008

Eat more seems to be true.  When on weight watchers - core I was eating more than my wife and loosing like crazy.  She was having trouble loosing.

Also check the portion sizes, for accounting in your food diary here.  I thought I was eating a nice healthy amount of oatmeal, but turns out I was eating more oatmeal than I thought and had more calories because of it.

1)  STARVATION MODE - is real and will mess up weight loss and health.  It can happen to anyone.

One thing I am confused on is how the other factors interact.

2)  Not drinking enough water??

3)  Not getting enough exercise??

4)  Not getting enough rest??

5)  Being sick??

I have read that having low levels of the good colestoral (is that LDL?) can increase the chances of having memory problems.  This might be a symptom.

Just saying to check.
