I was unable to open these web pages. Am I too assume one of them is her naked. I would rather not see naked pictures of someone!  So do you weight 115 pounds? How tall are you?  I'm not sure why you would want to look like someone else.  I thought the point of the human race is that we are all different from each other.  I cannot see the pictures but I assure when you are  her weight it will look different on your frame. Oh.....you are 5'6. How much do you weight.....sorry I had to re- read your post, you are over 140.   I guess you also have to take into account that she might not have had a weight problem and thus has never had her body stretch.

Amen tisroc!!!! I dropped 42 lbs in a matter of 3 months previously starving myself ( I don't recommend) but my point is the body will use the stored fat. In my case it did not take long to let go of it. The thing that kept me sane is that I weighed myself only once a month. I was going to a weight loss doctor and did not own a scale so I only got weighed when I went. I remember a 15 lb loss the first month and 14 the second and 13 the third it then took me 3 months to lose the last 10. So you will lose the weight at 1200 a day. I predict you will step on the scale one day and see a big loss. Quit sweating it and keep counting calories and getting some activity.

Speak it!!!!  Are you male or F?  Men lose much faster them women.  I lost 13 the first month. I'm not sure I could lose that much this months since it is almost over and I have lost nothing.   I think my problem is the scale, it has so depressed me.  Did you measure yourself during the month to see if you had dropped inches? You said you would not recommend this to anyone, why?  I feel very satisfied on this 1200.

Weight Loss how many calories ?????? Jul 22 2008

last month I lost 13 pounds on a 1200 calorie diet.  I was traveling a lot so I did not get to exercise very much.  This month I started focusing on my exercise again and I have stopped losing weight for the last three weeks.  I too want to burn fat while toning my body but when the scale does not move I just want to kiss my workout goodbye.  However, I know I am replacing muscle with fat and since muscle takes up less room in your body then you would be able to see it in measurements.  You might have to start measuring yourself every week instead of watching the scale.

By the logic you guys are using it would be impossible to starve to death because you can't lose weight on a low calorie diet.

No matter how her body is adjusting to her diet it is finding energy to run. If she was burning muscle you'd still see weight loss. The real answer is you are making mistakes on the logging of your calories or you are mistaken about your daily burn. There is no magical answer, there is no voodoo trick of the body. You aren't losing weight because you don't have a caloric deficit.

I'm making no statement on the health of a low calorie diet vs. a reasonable caloric deficit. But it is a logical fallacy to imply that too much of a caloric deficit results in no weight loss. You guys have warped truth into silliness.

Truth:

A diet that is too low on calories (The in) will result in a reduction in total calories burned (The Out). As a result of "The in" being too low "The out" will drop when their ceases to be a deficit you cease to lose weight.

Lie:

There is a daily caloric deficit of over 1000 for an extended period and the person fails to lose weight.

It has never happened in the history of the universe and it never will.

I needed to hear something different! Thank you. I would be extremely surprised if I was making a mistake in my calorie counting.  I do however wonder about the accuracy of my burn.  It seems to me that you agree that my metabolism has slowed down, right? What do you suggests?  Burn more, eat less, that is all I know how to do.   I don't understand all the middle stuff people are always talking about.  Even if I was eating too little and my body for a period of time tried to hold on to it's beloved fat, sooner or later it would have to say, "just let her have it". Right?

Someone else suggested I start measuring myself and I have been only on a monthly bases but I will do it more often and see what happens.  However a pound is a pound and muscle does not weigh more then fat.  A pound of muscle simple take up a lot less room then a pound of fat and that is why you can lose nothing and still drop in inches.

I have no medical problems and have been told by a dr. in the past that 1200 is an okay calorie intake to lose weight. I don't eat bad carbs, I eat lots of fruit, veggies. I looked on my pie chart for the last 7 days and it said an average of 19 fat, 22 protein, 25 carbs. However sometime I add  manually to my calorie counter and it does not account for those items so I don't know how inaccurate it is. I follow the prism food list. It tells you what you should be eating and how much of it to have a balanced day.

I understand, I really do. I seemingly do this weight loss stuff backwards. I started out low carb and when I started logging my calories I was shocked to see I was getting around 800 to 1000 a day. I upped my calories and lost a little and then got stuck. I realized when I did my analysis that I was only getting around 1100 a day. So I increased again. I am now averaging 1400 calories and I have to increase AGAIN to see where it gets me. It takes longer, but it is working. I just have the hardest time "doing what I know" factually, instead of cutting calories like we were always told in the past.

I agree we really have always been told the less we eat the more we lose. Can someone please get it out of my HEAD! So fringe 1000 are you losing at 1400 or are you going to have to up it some more. I have been on this wbsite for days trying to get some held because I think I forced myself in to a plateau.  I was eating way to little. Ah.....first to much, then to little.

I’ve been on a 1200 program for two months. Lost 13 and then plateau!  I have been at 199 for three weeks.   I guess my body figure out what was going on.  I exercise and am an active mother of three toddlers.  I burn about 2290 and was eating 1200 which is over a 1000 calorie deficiency.  When I exercise I burn another 400cal, which means some days I had a calorie deficiency of 1400.  I now have realized how much I have messed my body up.  I plan to not go under 1300 now and plan to eat some 1500 or 1600 on the day I work out.  However I have heard that if you have high calorie day like 2200 or something it might get your body moving again.

You need to post your stats in order to get good replies. What's your weight/height, how many calories do you eat, how many calories do you burn, etc.

Okay, I'm 28, 199 lbs, 5"3, exercise three times a week at an aerobic class.  I have already lost 42 pounds. I was doing a 1200 calorie program and lost another 13 lbs but then stopped.  On a high day I eat about 1400 to 1500, on a low between 1100 and 1200.

WOW!!! That's like 10 pounds a month!  Sometimes I think weight comes off easier for different people.  I have been taking aerobic classes since Feb. and love to work a sweat. When I realized that alone was not getting the weight off I started counting calories.  I have also cut out sugar and white flour. I feel really good at 1200, I'm never hungry.  However I do notice when I go under I lose less.  Maybe I should try 1400 and see what happens.
