Hi everyone that replied,

Thanks so much for the encouraging words.  I just wanted to let you know I think the reason my doctor was telling me that, and I think I should say that he wasn't telling me to do the 800-1000 calorie diet, he was just suggesting it.  I believe he was telling me to try that instead of doing something like the lap band.  I read somewhere that you can do your own lap band without going through the surgery by reducing your calorie intake drastically, but as a diabetic I don't think that would be good, but he told me that people that have done the lap band and were diabetic are no longer diabetic.  There may be something in that, but right now I think I will stick to a 1200 calorie diet for now.

Again thanks again  all of you and I am adding you all to my buddies list.

Hi pgm,

Right now I am on a 1500 calorie diet.  My doctor wants me on a 1000 to 800 calorie diet and I am finding that one to restrictive.  I am 232 right now and I have to be 130 lbs also.  I understand about the job thing.  I am a cafeteria manager for a school district and right now I am on a break.  But when school starts up I am hoping that I won't start back sliding.  Thanks for the reply!!
