that article is great! i had no idea about the net calorie burn vs total calorie burn! I totally feel like the reason i have gained weight/having a hard time losing lately is because i over estimate how much i burn! now i have a better sense of how much i burn per mile of activity...thanks! you might be to thank for the weight loss i am sure to achieve now that i understand Net calorie burn!

hmm thats scares me. i do feel really naseuous today and last night i was incredibly dizzy before going to bed...maybe thats cause my body was retaining to much water ?

Thanks. Makes me feel better. I acutally had a pretty intense workout day yesterday. I sorta accidently ran 13 miles (ran 4 in the am then 6 after work) and then my friend wanted to go for a jog with me that ended up being a bit over 3 miles long and i also did a core workout in there. so the water retention thing makes sense. ]

 

I  was going to get up and run today but i feel like i should wait till this eveing ...give my body a chance to recover.

5.8 i guess 140? (today) I run alot...but exercise varies from day to day. I guess i may have eaten more carbs yesterday and maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanks I am going to try that and I did some HIIT training at the gym today and played raquet ball (change in workout routine :) ..hope this helps me

good tip. i will try that -- ive always thought about doing more H.I.I.T -- i do it every once and awhile (but i guess since its hard I shy away from it -- not a good reason, i know)

in regards to crazydiamond's post -- the thing is with me, sometimes how i feel acutally doesnt match the numbers, its bizaar somedays when i feel puffy i weigh myself and nothings changed

also, yesterday's workout was pretty intense, is it possible that I am swollen from that? does that happen? ive heard sometimes the day after a hardcore workout you swell up and then the next day lean down? is this true?

Thanks for the info...i think i just need to get my eating scedule back on track...Ive been soo busy lately i find that i forget to eat during the day (i dont really get hungry when i am destracted) and then i binge hardcore at night ... thats prolly where i am doing the damage :(

any tips on countering that situation?

I think i might have Night EAting Syndrome acutally .

I run roughly 10 miles a day (no joke) and weight train -- dif muscle groups every other day.

The thing is tho  some days when i feel really fat(bloated or whateveR) i weigh myself and i actually weigh less and vice versa .. i feel lke ive got a totally warped body perception :(

Do you fill your plate with serving sized portions? I always measure things out and just log the whole serving size into calorie-count, even if I don't eat it all. I dont add spices and gum to my log and my reasoning is that by maybe leaving a bit on my plate of a serving size i logged into my daily food diary, everything balances out.

I am going with IES abroad ... taking classes at the abroad center and at City University.

IES got us a discounted monthly rate at the YMCA in central London, so I think I will do that.


I am really excited. Any reccomendations on the best places to go/things to do :)?

I'm a new vegan and my mom bought me one of those advent calanders with the little window you open with milk chocolates in them. They are so small so I figure just one little milk chocolate a day isnt going to compromise my decison to go vegan for ethical reasons too much. After december tho no more milk chocolate! :)...anyway the point of my little story is to make ya feel better about drinking a cappacino made with milk. I feel like once and awhile we can't be perfect. Although I gave up drinking milk awhile ago -- before i went straight vegan -- and If i drink it now i get horrible stomach achs so personally I wouldn't have drank it because I would make me sick all day.

I am almost 5'9 around 145 (147 today..hoping its just a water weight day or something). I want to be 140 or 135..thats where I was at the beginging of September.


My night binging ususally is several peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches :( or cereal. I live in sorority house and we have a snack room filled with random things so the not buying items to keep me from being tempted idea doesnt really work for me...luckily I will be living in London next semester with my own kitchen so that will change things a bit. What should I do in the meantime? I really want to be 5 lbs lighter (at least) by xmas.

In terms of not eating enough during the day, I thought that too so I started increasing my calorie in-take during the day and that didn't change the night bingeing thing. It like takes over..sometimes I end up in the kitchen with food in my hand and I don't even know how I got there. Its a bazaar phneonmena.

I run 5-6 miles per day already..i do sprint intervals every other day...i switch up my cardio occasionally jumping from machine to machine...i cant imagine working out any harder than i already do without collapsing

That NYT article totally describes me. I am lucky that I am tall and active with a fast enough metabolism that I have only gained 10 and its taken a long time for this weight to accumulate. I dont look all that bad, but I am lehtargic and feel bad about myself.

I definately have been dealing with alot of emotional/life crap lately. that totally makes sense...


So it starts now! i am going to fix this by eating three meals a day. lots of protein and a sweet healthy snack.
