Health & Support Gallbladder Surgery? Nov 30 2008

Hi,

I was 24 when I had my gallbladder out 29 years ago and haven't missed it a day since! The surgery was tough compared to the laparoscopic procedues done today but I would still do the same thing again. I do have bouts of diarrhea on occasion but that is a small price to pay for hell my gallbladder put me through.

I say, have the surgery and don't look back! You will be much happier without your gallbladder! Good luck and take care.

I cast my ballot by mail last week and after reading all of the comments above I wish I'd waited and gone to the polls........I too, never thought I would see this in my lifetime. My adult children are so so excited about voting this year too. I agree with so many of the posters here....NOTHING should keep you from voting......get to the polls.

Pregnancy & Parenting Anyone have a successful pregnancy after miscarriage? Oct 31 2008

I'm so sorry you lost your baby......

My daughter lost her first baby and had to have a D&C too. She mourned the baby for months and the day that would have been her due date was very difficult. She has had two problem free pregnancies since and has a three year old boy and a 15 month old girl. She was so afraid when she got pregnant the second time but all went well.

Emily makes a great point about miscarriages......

Good luck with your next pregnancy, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Sunnybra.......just be with him and his family.....talk about what you always talked about. Let your friend take the lead and you'll be surprised at how easy and rewarding it is to be with and care for someone who is dying. My mom and my mother-in-law died within months of each other. My mother-in-law died at home with my husband and me........I wouldn't trade those seven weeks for anything. We talked about everything important to her, went through old pictures, read favorite books and had lots of visitors when she felt up to it. I learned so much from her. My mom died at home too......her time was a little different but just as rewarding. I felt blessed to have friends who cared enough to put their discomfort aside and spend time with us. I think you will be surprised by how you feel when you spend time with them.  I'll keep you in my thoughts in the weeks to come. Take care, Terry

Hi Kim........no great accomplishments to report. I just wanted to say how great it is that you participate in cross country. My daughter did all four years of highschool and it is a tough sport. She made great friends and was in such good shape. Have a great run this Friday and enjoy the team.

Good Morning.

A girlfriend of mine makes an appetizer called Betty Davis eyes. She molds soft herbed cheese around grapes and rolls them in finely chopped nuts.....pecans I think. She slices them in half to look like eyes. I hope this helps. Happy Halloween!

Hi,

I love the suggestion earlier about Salems' Lot by Stephen King and also loved The Stand, also written by King.

I've enjoyed a series of nine books by authors Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child starting with Relic and ending with Wheel of Darkness. They all have a recurring character named Pendegast. They are great fun and I believe they have another "Pendergast" book coming out next summer.

Someone else mentioned the Dean Koontz books and I enjoy those too.

Robert McCammon's older books are great too, especially Swan Song.

I could go on and on and can't wait to try many of the books suggested by other readers. Happy reading!

Weight Loss Has Anyone Tried the Wii Fit? Sep 11 2008
23:08 (UTC)

Hi,

We bought our Wii Fit about two months ago and positively love it.  It is great fun and can be tough. The more beginner activities you do and repeat the more advanced activities will open up for you. I still use a stationary bike and free weights to get a good workout but the Wii is a great addition. Have fun!

I've never sold on Amazon but I buy regularly from both Amazon and the private sellers on the site. I find it easy to navigate and have never had a problem. I'd rather buy from Amazon, including the private sellers, than any other site or even brick & morter store. Good luck!

Hi Shannon,

I just came across this thread today. You and your family will be in my prayers and I will send the findchris.org link to everyone I know.  Cedar City is one of my favorite places and I now feel like someone in my own family is missing!

Again, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family

God bless you, Terry

Hi Alle,

Ten years ago my daughter eloped and my husband & I were heartbroken when we found out. It would have been so much easier if she had told us her plans first. I truly understand you not wanting to be the center of attention......I don't like it either. I think your plans to have a house warming/reception within a year or so are great. Please consider letting your folks in on your plans.....I think it will mean a lot to them and save lots of hurt feelings later.

Congratulations and good luck in your new life together!

Hi again Jetlee,

Thanks for the tips regarding law school...I passed them on to my daughter.  While I was watching her kids yesterday she was at her dining room table working on outlines and had mentioned to me how important they are.  Thank you again for taking the time to tell my about your experience. I'll keep you in my thoughts.  Take care, Terry

Hi again,

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck and keep us posted! I'll be keeping an eye out for you in November. My daughter started law school yesterday and was told there is a 50 to 60% fail rate in law school......and that is long before the bar. Knowing this, you must have done a great job in school. What kind of law do you want to practice?

Hi Jetlee,

I don't have any comments about your small gain.....everyone else did a great job on that. I want to know if you passed the bar exam? Congrats on finishing school and taking the test......I hear it is insanely difficult. No matter, good luck with your future plans and great job losing 40 pounds

I love my Wii Fit too and "play" everyday. It is great fun and a good workout too. I manage to break a sweat and increase my heart rate every time I use it. I do almost all aerobics and yoga and find the yoga a real challenge. Thanks for posting your tips......I agree with all of them. I also use other forms of exercise, a stationary bike to get my heart rate up and free weights. The Wii is my reward after I get off the bike! My husband slso uses the Wii Fit and we engage in some friendly competition Thanks again for your tips.
