I haven't really posted on here much, but this thread brought me out of lurking. :)


I guess my thing with the whole feminist/stay-at-home mom argument is this: why should I feel guilty for wanting a career just because I have a vagina? I plan to be a professor of Old Testament and Hebrew because I believe it is a worthwhile and important job, not because I am trying to get rich. Both my parents worked and I am as well-adjusted, happy, and healthy as I can be (discounting my need to lose a few pesky pounds!). I know some people with stay at home parents who are not so healthy or happy.

And speaking of discrimination, have any of you attended a fundamentalist Baptist church in the south? I grew up in it. I bought into the idea that I needed a man to be my spiritual leader until I got to college, became a Biblical Languages major and finally realized that I could find God on my own, despite my having a uterus. ;)

Oh man...cheese. Definitely cheese. I want to put it on everything. And also hot sauce, but that isn't so bad for me. :)

Hmmm. Today I was at 22/49/29. So I guess that's a little abnormal. I'm not a huge meat eater, so sometimes I have a hard time getting my protein. I like tofu and such, but none of my family members are fans, so I'm out of luck until I'm back at school in August. But basically, I need to reduce the fat and really up my protein. I'll look into the protein shake. I'm definitely feeling the hunger right now, but that's partially because I should be asleep. :)


Do you have a suggestion as far as when I should do weight lifting? Today I did my cardio (kickboxing) in the afternoon and my weight lifting at night so my dad could spot me.

Hello all. I am new to CC and have been eating 1200 cal for about a week. I am 21 years old, 5' 2", and weigh 135, looking to lose 10-15 lbs.  CC suggested that I eat 1200 a day, but I am worried this is too low, as most weekdays I burn about 350 cal with exercise. As long as my deficit is less than 1000, am I ok? I don't want to slow my metabolism down...
