I'm 21 and have gained 30lbs over the years and want to get back to 120lbs. I also let myself go. I've been with my boyfriend for five years and over the past two years is when I put on the weight. My goal is to be 120 by Valentine's Day and half way there by Christmas. |

My local sushi place has brown rice selections. I love brown rice way more than sticky and white rice. I love the texture. So brown rice sushi makes me happy |

I don't like veggie burgers...I've tried them a lot over the years but I haven't found a good one. I love turkey burgers. My favorite quick lunch is a turkey burger (no bun), cottage cheese, and BBQ sauce. Sometimes I have a pickle or a tomato. |

| Fitness | Does treadmill walking 30 min/day really make a difference? | Jan 11 2009 23:43 (UTC) |

I hate the treadmill so this is not something I personally have tried. In the summer of 2007 my mom started the South Beach Diet. It was pretty random of her to do so but she said she was upset when she was shopping for clothes and realized she was looking at maternity tops. She doens't like scales and says she hasn't known her weight in 15 years so she goes by pant sizes. So June 2007 she was a size 22-24 in womens. For about a month she just ate less and dieted and her pants were loose and she was fitting into old size 18-20's that she had around the house. So in July 2007 she got a membership to the local YMCA, she was going 5 days a week for 15-30 minutes and just walking on the treadmill. By Christmas 2007 she was a size 10. It was weird to see her so thin! Then she started working out less and eatting normal foods. Now she does yoga (Hatha yoga, not pilates) twice a week and once or twice a week 30 mintues on the treadmill. She said what helped her on the treadmill was building up to having it on its highest slope and a moderate speed for 15-20 mintues. She doesn't run on the treadmill, just walks and she has mainted a size 10 with no dieting for the past year. I have no idea if this will help you. |

I really like the taste of EAS. I was drinking a chocolate one after my workouts. I was still unhappy with my results so I talked to my doctor about protein. My goals are proably different than yours (I want to loose weight), so I don't know if this will be helpful. But I was told that their are too many calories in these shakes and the serving size is too big. I was told that the best after workout thing to drink is 4 oz. of chocolate milk. I started drinking 4 oz. of chocolate Silk after my workout and my body fat percentage dropped (32% to 25%).
I have never heard of any bad side effects from protein shakes...and EAS is the best tasting brand that I have tried. |

I can't run on a tredmill either. I hate them and if just don't feel right on them. I do not like running outside in the winter so I use the elliptical. |

you should not feel pain. if you feel pain don't do it. maybe you are doing it wrong. try building more strength and do other things beside planks. maybe try side planks. start modified and move to full side plank after practice. |

| Fitness | Which is better (for a total beginner!)for toning- pilates or yoga? | Nov 24 2008 18:26 (UTC) |

I would say start with yoga a few times week to build strength then go to pilates. I practice with yoga instructors 2-3 times a week. I started yoga to help with my breathing because I had depression and wanted off medications. I have never hurt myself in yoga. Usually people hurt themselves because they don't listen to their bodies and force themselves into more then their bodies can handle. I also get bored weight training it is to repetitive. |

Practice. I started on the elliptical in January with 5 minutes. I have now built up to 30 minutes and my goal is to do 45. I would like to do a hour but I doubt I will get to that. |

A few tablespoons of peanut butter? Maybe snack on that since my PB has like 200 calories in 1 tablespoon. So if you need 1100 calories more have 5-6 tablespoons throughout the day. Maybe eat some PB and toast as a snack or applesa and PB. I have read that people like PB and cottage cheese but that seems weird to me. |

I bought a lunch box because I have class 8am-5pm. I feel like a dork because I have not seen anyone else with a lunch box. I like Laughing Cow Light Mini Cheese wheels. They are good. I also have turkey slices in there too. Sometimes I have carrots or some kind of veggies. I put my lunch and snacks for the day in my little lunch box, it helps me from pigging out after class in the student center. |

I went to the doctor today and I asked about "negative" calories because I have been seeing it come up a lot on CC. He said all those foods are great for you but you NEED energy. He told me that "back in the day" there were celery diets, celery and onion diets, celery, onion, and carrot diets, but you can't stick to them because you need more substance. But he told me to increase in these foods (decrease carbs). So I guess I'm saying that there are no "negative" foods because you can't surivie it thats all you eat. |

I saw my doctor today to talk about my weight loss and I asked about what I should be eating and I asked how much sodium I should consume and caffine I should have. He told me that sodium has a bad rep right now and since I am 20 and my blood pressure is normal not to worry and eat as much salt as I want and that I could have 5 cups of coffee a day and no problem. He pointed out its not good but not to worry because I am young and "healthy". |

I take a sandwich with me to school everyday to school. I don't use mayo on it, just mustard. I like turkey the best, and I like wheat and rye bread. Sometimes I have tomatoes, bressel sprouts, or something on it, but mine are pretty simple. |
