Weight Loss Improving Jul 15 2009

One - ditch the bagel and the cream cheese.  Eat some oatmeal or some yogurt and fruit for breakfast.  That will save you more calories than you might think.

Two - eat SOMETHING for lunch even if it's just a FiberOne bar.  You need something to keep your metabolism firing.  If you eat more at lunch you'll probably find that you're not the ravening beast at dinner.

Three - Try swapping your lunch for dinner.  Eat a big lunch.  Eating a big dinner and then going to bed isn't helping your weight loss any.  Sleeping causes your metabolism to drop and that means that those calories get converted into - you guessed it - body fat that you have to work off.

Four - The protiens can help prevent muscle loss from intense cardio but you really ought to look at adding some weight training to your routine.  Even marathon runners do SOME weight training.

I've decided to do One, Two and Four

Three I am not sure yet. Yesterday I had lunch and I ended up having the same big dinner as usual and my stomach was in pain...

By the way, if you eat dinner early around 6pm is it bad? I was under the assumption that dinner is only bad if you eat very late or eat and go straight to sleep.

Obviously you are sure you are eating healthy as you mentioned so that's good. The only problem you have is your appearance (mainly in a bathing suit). I am not an expert in weight loss but I can definitly tell you that any guy looking at you wearing a bath suit at 120pds would go "niceeeeeee". There is no reason to be upset and cancel your whole vacation. You don't have to be a bony model for guys/girls to think you have a nice body.

My 2 cents

Don't put words in my mouth. I never said she should be ok for them making fun of her and calling her names. Obviously you have a lot of issues of your own and you should handle them in your own way. never make assumptions about other people or else you are just a hypocrite since you are talking about being real and not judging. You are judging me from 1 post and calling me an ****, a superficial person, that I think I am from the "cool" kinda people and bla bla bla. You are not even close. you should take your own advice first before giving it to others. work out your issues and just because you dated I don't know how many guys (this says a lot about your judgment since it seems you settle for anybody who shows you interest) it doesn't mean you know it all.

P.S: I hate keyboard warriors

Looking around at the answers above, I kind of feel some people are trying to fool themselves in believing that they don't care about physical appearance whatsoever. You might not base your relationship on it but you can't date someone who you have no physical attraction to at all. That would make you "not human"

Watch how you judge us, amazighus. You are talking to some experienced fools. We have been around the block and learned a thing or two.

If you settle for a man who is only interested in "physical attraction" , then you need to have some intelligence so that you can support yourself when your husband dumps you for his new "physical attraction" to a younger prettier woman. Looks fade. Look at Bridgette Bardot (thanks gi-jane for that post).

@ charming_imy27 Honey, do not live your life trying to fit some man's ideal of beauty. Go out (or dig around deep in your mind) and find what really matters to you. Be the kind of person you want others to be and you will find a much better group of friends and boyfriends. When you stop trying to find a boyfriend is usually when you find the best one. :)

You might have been around the block and you learned a thing or two, but I am a guy, I know guys, I know how they think and what they talk about around other guys. Obviously we don't all think the same and the older we get the more mature we get. anyways, I was just answering her honestly. I didn't say that people above me were fools, but if you believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that guys don't value physical attraction especially when they meet the person first time, Then that's just plain wrong.

Let's just take an example other than weight. Some guys are attracted to latinas more, some guys are attracted to blonds more, some guys love petit asian women, some guys like curvy white girls, I didn't come up with this but this is common knowledge ... There is nothing wrong with having fantasies and liking a specific kind of girl. The wrong thing to do is basing your whole relationship on the physical side. I've been there, done that and learned from it. and to all the girls that think guys are jerks because of this, don't forget how many times we get rejected/dumped by you for no reason. there is the good and the bad in both sexes so don't come here attacking me for something that happens on both sides. I'd rather be honest than a hypocrite. I would rather tell her the truth so she is ready than fill her mind with fantasies about guys not caring about physical side and that if he shows interest right away it must be because he loves your personality. it takes months to really know what the guy/girl is really after

You might not base your relationship on it but you can't date someone who you have no physical attraction to at all. That would make you "not human"

I will be honest in my answer. I like fit girls, certain physical characteristics appeal more to me than the rest (hair color, eyes, booty ...) not only weight matters. but obviously a relationship is not the physical side only. I won't date a girl who is super hot but can't hold a conversation or we have nothing in common, and I would date a girl who is slightly overweight but makes me laugh and makes my day better. notice I mentioned slightly overweight, I don't want to offend but if someone is way overweight I wouldn't be attracted to them. I won't treat them bad or make fun of them or belittle them like some people do but I don't see myself in an intimate relation.

The most important thing to me in a relation though is more the comfort level with the person. I don't like long talks on the phone, I don't like daily calls, I don't like pushy people, I don't like anybody to disturb my relation with my family or friends and things like that... So really I focus more on how I feel in the relation rather than some excess weight.

Now in your case, don't doubt yourself you look nice but don't settle for jerks who laugh at you amongst themselves even if it's only for fun. It seems like you need to get a whole new bunch of friends

Well done! just keep at it if you are still losing :D

I am almost a similar case like you. I went from 228 to 185 in about 4 months. I don't even have clothes to wear anymore. I probably did more shopping in the last 4 months than I did in the last 3 years.

the "us" part. well I always liked Maximus from the movie Gladiator. So I just added the "us" to Amazigh :D

It's sad to hear you lost a friend just because you made a choice of living a healthy lifestyle. It's not your fault though and you shouldn't even think of blaming yourself for it. My only advice is to probably show your friend this site and push her to join and change her life too. I am sure she doesn't enjoy being overweight but she might just not know how to start to get to where she wants to be. and since you are her friend it is your duty to help her :)

The people above all gave you the advice you need. I am only going to focus on one aspect though. After a while you will get bored, you will feel as if you are just wasting time and losing the weight might take longer than you expect, don't give up though. It's very important you stay motivated and you believe that you are changing your life and not just losing weight. if you ever feel bored or lazy, come and post here and we will push you and motivate you. Good luck

I am 24, 5'11 and I currently weight at 188pounds. I lost about 35 pds in the last 3 months running and dieting. I don't follow any diet I just cut down on the amount of food that I eat while exercising almost daily. I only started counting calories about a week ago and now I know some of the diet I've done was not healthy. So I am counting calories now. I try to have a max intake of no more than 1700-1900 cals daily.

Thanks goddess9 and joyfulake.

I definitely got all my questions answered with extra advice so it's great. I think I am gonna start doing the interval training and no more heavy clothes while running!! Kickboxing is a good idea too but I am not sure I can include it in my schedule. maybe I can find an alternative like swimming since there is a pool just beside my workplace.

Thanks for the reply lozzle. You made a lot of good points that I was kinda aware of but not sure they were true. I guess all I can do is stay active and wait till the body decides to start burning belly fat :D

Hope your elbow heals soon so you can get back to your normal fitness routine. Cheer

I usually take a break if I feel tired or weak. I believe in listening to your body it will tell you if it can take it or not. make sure you don't confuse that with laziness though :)

Thanks for the reply lozzle.

I am currently not in any gym and I won't be for another 2 months. I was hoping someone can share a method other than lifting weights.

I am also not looking for an exercise that would target reducing fat from the belly area only, but rather looking for an all around running regiment or non running workout that may help with reducing belly fat.
