| Young Calorie Counters | What should I do about my delicious b-day cake? Help! | Jul 20 2009 19:07 (UTC) |

Seriously, here is my opinion: Eat the entire cake if you want to. It's your birthday cake and you will probably feel completely miserable about not having as much as you want of it. After that, start the new diet plan. That'll be like a goodbye to the constant junk food eating you.

I'm a little self concious about my inner thighs and butt, and in case I feel really miserable I bought these adorable mini water shorts, which make me feel a whole lot more confident and make my legs look thinner! |

I enjoy writing quite a bit, but I like reading better. Sometimes it's hard for me to get words onto paper and not make them sound cheesy, but sometimes I'm on a role. I won a writing contest two years ago from a major university in my city, and I got published in Teen Ink, the magazine. I like writing in my journal more though, and I don't think I want to pursue a career in writing unless I become a journalist. |

I'm trying to count how many calories I ate to see if I ate enough (boy do I feel satisfied :) ) but do juices count when counting calories? Cause I had a big glass of orange juice at breakfast and I don't know where to add it in. I want to make sure what I am eating is healthy so I'll post what I ate today: Breakfast: big glass of orange juice, 1/4 grapefruit, peach, banana Lunch: Average sized bowl of salad, and a small sandwich (small Ciabatta loaf of bread with two slices of mortadella, 2 slices of salami, 1 slice of capicollo. Sorry I only know the italian names) Snack: ice cream popsicle (lime flavored) YUM Supper: 2 chicken nuggets, 2 chicken fingures, barbeque sauce, more salad on the side Snack: very small bowl of Special K cinnamon and pecan cereal. A bit of candy too. I estimate that's about 1660, not counting juice. Counting juice I guess it's 1900-ish. Seriously I felt like I overdid it, and I feel kinda stuffed. And actually today I didn't go to the gym because my muscles were very sore and I needed a break. But I will do floor excercises later tonight. Wow that number is freaking me out a little bit. |

I've taken all that you guys have told me into account, but honestly, I don't even eat 1990 calories or more on normal days (unless I go to a restaurant and stuff myself). I will try to eat more, but I think I will focus more on not eating too much junk, since that's what I eat a lot of. But here is one of my problems: Since it is the summer, I usually go the bed very late, and then wake up very late, say around 10-11. I'm not sure when to eat three balanced meals cause it usually ends up being me having a fruit for breakfast, then waiting a couple of hours for lunch, then snacking, then having supper. Should I still eat a full breakfast even though it's that late in the morning? |

I've known since I was twelve that I wanted to be a biologist. Biology is my favorite and best subject, and never fails to fascinate me. I love it so much.
And I already know, because I don't look as forward to my other classes as to science. |

Um sorry to burst all your bubble, but PMSing is not ToTM. PMS stands for Pre-menstrual syndrome, which is when girls have mood swings and the likes Before or after (same thing) having their periods.
When I have it, I usually don't exercise as much because I'm always tired. Even more tired than when I'm completely normal. My sleeping schedule is quite terrible at the moment. |

I don't see why she shouldn't sign up here. I'm fourteen, and after a bit of fiddling around with the buttons I have figured out how to use it just fine. There are a lot of teenagers from the age of thirteen who are on this site.
It's quite simple, and I think that making her sign up here will make her more aware of calories and fat and whatnot. It'll be for her own benefit. If she does sign up, she could always talk to me whenever she likes, since I am around her age, and I can sort of understand. Hope this helps! |

| Young Calorie Counters | As a teen, what do you do to EXERCISE? | Aug 28 2008 05:03 (UTC) |
30 |
I'm still at home, and am not allowed to do anything except walk and swim (I had a surgery 6 months back, and I'm not quite 100% yet.) -walk around the house as much as possible -go up and down stairs purposely -DVD exercise called Walk Away The Pounds, and it's basically a half hour brisk walk in place. Very good at getting my muscles worked out. At some points, I jog in place, but then go back to walking. -Squats here and there, and right before I go to bed, I do a series of leg exercises on my bed (leg lifts etc.)
I would be doing a bunch of crunches and such, but the surgery was on my spine, and I'm no longer capable of bending that are of my back to crunch (they placed metal rods on my back, for a severe scoliosis problem I had). Other than that, I diet like crazy, and weigh myself 10 times a day. |

Hmmmm let's see.....I don't have much of an appetite these days, but I try to eat until I'm full. Breakfast/Lunch-ish (I woke up past eleven): -90 calorie Special K Bites (strawberry) -20 lucky charms marshmallows (ehehehe, I left all the cereal behind.) -1/4 yellow pepper -10 McDonalds french fries -2 bites of a greek salad -2 bottles of water -1 cup of Grape Soda
Supper: -Half of a large Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken Strips (I shared with my cousin) -small piece of Apple Crumbly (OMG the best dessert I've ever had). -1 bottle of water
Hmmmm I don't know how many calories that is. I'll go check. |

Hilary Clinton is a great public speaker. Even though I'm Canadian and the whole election thing doesn't concern me, I still watched her speech last night. I like the part where she sort of attacks McKain by saying "We don't want another four years of the last eight years". |

Chuck E Cheese is a stupid place that is only found in America. There is no Chuck E Cheese in China, and I find that quite insulting. Because if it does so happen that the Chinese gymnasts are fourteen, they are my age. So technically, you are also insulting me. |

Original Post by undertherainbow: After the surgery I did not eat anything at all for three days. All I would have were fluids, and even after that I ate very little. My pooping patterns got all messed up because I didn't go for the first week, and after I did go, it was another week before I went again. I was extremely constipated, but that was apparently normal due to all the drugs I was taking (there were at least 6 kinds). After that I never went regular again. I go maybe every 3 days, sometimes 4, which is NOT NORMAL. But I'm still taking Iron suppliments, so that might be a cause. I'm 14, 5'9, 141 (used to be 136 last month, but I gained while on vacation), and I guess I'm at a light to heavy activity level. |

Camp Rock. I was extremely disappointed when I saw it, since I predicted the whole thing in the first ten minutes. The lines were cheesy, and some of the actors were really, really bad. Kevin and Nick Jonas are the worst actors ever, but Joe was just okay. Also, High School Musical 2 was terrible. Even cheesier, and just nutty.
