Hi Connie,

You got a smile out of me so that's a start.  Hehe  Cinnamon is good for you but I've never tried that.  I've felt all the good thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much for all the support though this time.  Mother had a beautiful funeral if such a thing can be beautiful.  Tomorrow we are packing up her personal belongings and deciding what to do with them.  She led a very simple life because she gave all her money to others in need so it will mostly be clothes.  It's like pulling off a bandaid, better to do it quickly to keep the pain from lasting longer.  Hopefully will be back losing soon.  The after dinner did not help today.

Thanks.  I spent today going though pictures of mom to display.  That actually was good because I could remember before she was sick.  Tomorrow I'm going shopping for clothes and going to pamper myself a little now that the work is done on all the arrangements.  Then the funeral is Saturday.  Sunday we clean out Mom's stuff from the house.  I'm taking it one day at a time and I think I'm doing ok.  I know that my mother is in heaven and that makes me smile.

Thanks for the prayers my friends.  My mom passed peacefully yesterday at 5:20 and I was there holding her hand.  Today she's walking the streets of gold blissfully pain free.

The rest of the story is in my journal.  Love ya'll.

Everyone back away from the candy!!!!

Welcome Disney, Hi Con, Jazz, and Suz

Suz a lot of us seem to be going though hard times with our parents right now and I feel your pain.  I'm so sorry.  Your dad would want you to enjoy your life and live well.  I'll be praying for you.

My mom is doing down fast and I'm exhausted trying to help out.  I love her so much and I know it's going to leave one big hole.  Dad is feeling the strain and his health is suffering also.  Lots of stress in other areas also.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Hi Lory this is a great group but has been a little quiet lately.  Reminds me Connie where are you?  LOL  Miss you if you aren't here when I check in.

Tammy glad you are better.  Thanks Aly for trying to cheer us.  I try to focus on funny fun things and that helps a little.

Mother continues to worsen and this week has been spent trying to line up help for her.  Much more about this in my journal.

My nutritionist changed my appointment to Thursday so I'm really interested to see how this new plan has worked.  I must say it's not to difficult to do.

Love ya'll.  Keep strong and keep losing!

Ok where is everyone?  Eating?  Taking off for the winter?  What gives?  I miss my Friends!   HEEEELLLLLLLOOOOOOOO anyone out there?

I think I'm doing well on the plan from the nutritionist.  Since I can't weigh it's hard to tell.  I did have a total melt down at the Mexican Restuarant after being with my mom on Sunday and seeing her suffering.  At that moment nothing seemed to matter much so I fed my emotions and no it did not make me feel better. I go back next Wednesday to weigh so that will tell the tale.

My mom is doing horrible and we're trying to find more home health or figure out what to do.  I've dealt with a lot of problems and heartache but this is the worse.

Please keep my mom in your prayers and I'm remembering all the other mom's needing prayer also. Tammy's, Connie's, Sue's..... How is everyone elses parents doing?

If it's your neck focus the ice there and I promise it will help more than the heat.  Just try it morning and when you go to bed.  Just no longer than the 20 minutes at a time.  The heat gets blood to your muscles and will help in those areas but some times it worsens the inflammation.  When my back was the worst my massage therapist said it felt like mush and she's the one that told me to use the ice 3 times a day and it worked soo much better.  I'm very familiar with flexiril but if you stay on that long you better have a good laxative handy cause it relaxes everything. I know TMI. LOL  LaughingI can't take anti inflamitories because of my tummy.  Get a massage once a week for several weeks and that will help a lot too.  Love you Girl!

Connie  I'm not sure if it will help if it's from the shot but my ears start hurting from my neck I wear a mouth guard at night because it's from grinding my teeth.  If you are in pain you could be doing that.  Also do 20 minutes of wet heat.  You can buy the little microwavable heat pad with a fabric cover that you can dampen but be careful to not burn yourself.  Then do 20 minutes of ice.  Make sure you have something between your skin and the ice bag.  Repeat both twice several times a day.  The heat brings circulation to it and the ice helps with the inflammation.  I go to bed with my ice pack every night.  I put it on my neck and back.  How sexy is that lol?  Actually my right arm was swollen for a week from an iv that had messed up my vein and the doctor told me to use the heat and cold on it and it helped alot.

Aly's suggestion of the hot shower was right on.  Under the shower slowly move your head to the left hold 5 secs. to the right hold 5 secs, straight hold 5 secs, forward chin tucked hold 5 secs, and back hold 5 secs.  until your neck loosens up.  DO NOT ROLL YOUR NECK AROUND.  Also just lift your arms staight up and hold 5 secs.  That helps release the shoulders.  I have severe neck and back problems so I know all the tricks.  Hope you feel better sweetie.

LOL  You underestimate the sneakiness!

Aly be careful with that I think maybe that's what led to one of my vertebraes moving and my back problems.  I hurt mine when I was 31 on a water slide of all things.

Connie the one time I had a flu shot I was sick for 2 days with what felt like a mild flu.  Fever and achy.  I hadn't had the nerve to get another one.

Happy Late Birthday Tru We love you!   You give great advice too.  I don't lose without exercise so it is very important.  A size here is usually about a 10 lb difference also or always has been for me.

I'm supposed to see a nutritionist but they keep moving my appointment.  Now it's Thursday.  So we'll see if they change it again.  I know a lot about nutrition from my years of dieting and Weight Watchers but I'm very interested in what she has to say and learning something new.

It is a BEAUTIFUL day today here.  Sunny with just a little hint of a cool breeze.  You just can't help but be happy on a day like this.Laughing

Welcome all.

I'm a lifetime member of WW and lost a 100 lbs twice, at 30 and again at 40, with them but when I've went again I just seem to be stuck and not able to lose.

I gained all my weight back after having a hysterectomy in 2003 so I certainly have problems with it.  I started having all kinds of health issues too.  That was one miserable year.  It's evened out since then but I still have a very hard time losing weight.  50 is coming up next so maybe the 3rd time will be the charm.

Alas Connie I'm sorry to say but I'm a dog person and even the dog has been shipped off to my daughter's house while I try to sell my house.   Us empty nesters also like to be able to hit the road at a moments notice.

Searay  I haven't tried that.  My bloating was linked to eating gluten.  That may be something to look into.  Lots of info on the web about that.

I had an awesome weekend and really feel good today.  I have my first appointment with a nutritionist today.  I'll pass along what I learn.

Say a prayer for my new great great niece.  She's in ICU and they are checking for heart problems.  She was 8lbs when she was born and looks healthy.  Her mom is only 18 so I hope they have it all solved before they send her home.

Connie I love my journal.  Put everything in there instead of in my mouth. LOL

I'm still trying to believe it after what I've been though mentally for the last three weeks but I finally got to see the GI doctor and he walks in the room and tells me I'm fine!   All I can say is Thank You Jesus!

On top of that I've lost 8 lbs and go to a nutritionist on Monday.  I plan to work hard on keeping my health a priority because what do we have if we don't have that?

Have an awesome weekend Friends!

Connie  How interesting!  I'll have to look that lake up and I'd love to hear the rest of the story.

Thanks Aly and Tru  From what I read it can be helped by losing weight slowly.  I don't go back to the doctor until Friday so I'm not sure of the complete diagnosis yet.  Tru I need you here coaching me!

Tammy I'm sure you'll have a blast.  Perfect exercise at the beach is laying there listening to the waves and doing nothing.  I haven't been exercising a lot either because of my back and ankles hurting but I'm going to have to find ways around that.

I just had my lunch.  A big salad I made at home with spring greens, apple, cucumber, and a little grilled chicken.  I'm almost scared to eat.  I see a nutritionist on Friday and I'm going to just tell her give me the list and I'll eat it.

Hope everyone has an awesome Monday.

Have you been checked for Celiac disease especially if you can't eat wheat?  You probably won't test positive if you haven't been eating much wheat though.  Gluton is in barley also and tons of other things.  Gluton is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and some oats plus it's in tons of things under other names.  It can cause all of the problems you list.

I'm so sorry Suz.  What a horrible ordeal.  My mom is on hospice now and it's so hard to see them suffer and to even think about losing her or dad.  So I can only guess what you are going though.  I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.  I'm glad your daughter is ok now.

I've talked to the nurse but not to the doctor yet.  I go next Friday.  There is problems that I've detailed in my journal.  I don't really want to go into details here because it's public.

Sue, Connie, Jas, Tammy praying for everything that ya'll (aka you guys)(from Alabama Connie, I write like I speak LOL) are going though now too.  Praying for all of our precious Mom's.  This is certainly a trying time for all of us now with our aging parents.  My mom has always been my rock.

Aly and everyone thanks for the prayers.  God is good!

I also go to a nutritionist after the doctor next week and will update you on what kind of diet she works up for me.  I'm really interested to see what I find out.

Hugs and have a great weekend.

Thanks Jasmine for the well wishes.  It IS very slow on here.

Hi Tru you know we remember you.  Sounds like you are doing awesome!  I'll keep you husband's job in my prayers.  I love badminton but remember none of the rules.

My EGD went ok except my nose is hurting which is weird because they are supposed to go though you mouth. Maybe he just smashed my nose pushing the tube down my throat.  Who knows what happens when you are asleep.  I'm not sure how long it will take to get the results back but hopefully this week.  My sister is having the same symtoms.

Love to all.

I just saw where Aly had checked in.  The fun of summer will soon be over and you can join the grind again with the rest of us.  We've missed you.

Connie, Sue prayers for your Mom's also.  The things we are facing with our parents right now is extremely difficult.  Sue.... God is certainly my strength also.

I get my EGD and biopsy's done Monday and I'll update everyone when I find out more.  Connie this disease is often thought to be IBS.  The doctor told me most people don't know they have it until a lot of damage is done and I read that most are usually over 65 when they do find it.  You should read about it at Celiac.com.  I'm a bit skeptical about an IBS diagnosis when that's what they've always told me and it's always turned out to be something else.  Gallbladder, H Polyri etc.  I've been gluton free since Friday and feel sooo much better.  So we'll see how it goes.

Love ya'll
