Weight Loss Low calorie candy/snack substitutes! Apr 25 2009

I like buying the snickers protein bars (or any for that matter). I feel like they are pretty healthy, help keep me full and taste very much like a snickers candy bar. Saves you quite a few calories and should certainly help with your sweet tooth. Of course, their are many healthy alternatives like fruits and yogurt, but I doubt they would satisfy a candy craving like these would.

Cheers!

Wait...what? I LOL'ed at the quoted line below.Laughing

I agree with the above posters, you should just incorporate the "cheat" meal into your daily calories. I've had a little candy for the last few days that I have incorporated into my daily calculations. I feel like I'm cheating even though I actual am not "cheating", per se.

Cheers!

So, for example, you could have 1-2 slices of people and eat really well the rest of the day.

I've been on a diet before where I binged for a weekend and gained 7lbs and got discouraged and quit.

Feb. 1st Weight: 211 lbs.

I've certainly been there before...too many times to count. One thing that has helped me this time, besides CC, are those pesky new year resolutions. Whenever I get upset and want to eat wayyy to much, I think to myself (if he's listening) "this year is going to pass regardless of what you do. At this time next year you can look back at what you've done and be happy or look back at what you failed at and be unhappy." Now I'm looking back and I'm happy...well, as happy as I can be and it's great.

Congrats to everyone and I look forward to seeing the results in March. Laughing

Welcome everyone. Smile My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit recently...the one downside to not eating planets anymore...er, being quite as fat anymore. I went to the gym for the first time today. I feel that I didn't do enough, but it was quite an experience. I was nervous, but luckily I had my brother and my iPhone to keep me company. I also used the ellipitical trainer for the the first time...man, that's a rough piece of equipment. I was ready to take a nap within 5 minutes.

Anyway, I felt like sharing...I hope that's okay. Innocent

I'd like to join this group. I've been doing a fantastic job on this lifestyle change. Over the holidays I didn't once eat too much and I actually exercized a little bit.

My story (I'll keep it short):

My name is Bryan and I am 29 years old. I've always loved eating and am extremely lazy. I work pretty hard for my employer, but when I am off I love doing absolutely nothing and I used to eat 5000 calories a day without even trying. That has certainly contributed to my being overweight. I still do nothing, but I throw in walking and bicycling as often as I can.

Starting Weight: 320 lbs. (July 11, 2008)

Current Weight: 219.5 lbs. (January 1, 2009)

My goal weight is 200 lbs., but judging from my utter hatred of myself in the mirror still, I'm going to adjust it to 160 lbs.

Happy New Year!

Weight Loss How much did you lose before people started noticing? Dec 28 2008

People have finally started noticing a difference in me lately. It didn't really start happening until I had reached about 90 lbs. down. I didn't feel as huge as I was, but I can certainly see it now. It really is a nice feeling when people bring it up, though I hate being the center of attention. I still have a long way to go until I reach my ideal weight, but having people notice really helps keep me motivated.

I know how you're feeling. I went out about 10 years ago looking for something open (to spend my Christmas money) and found nothing but the occasional gas station. I believe companies have realized, and this is purely speculation, that opening on Christmas day is not worth the expense and they will end up saving more money by closing down for this 1 day. Perhaps they want to reward their employees by giving them a guaranteed day off (doubtful) or have found that in the past it is almost impossible to adequately staff the business during this day.

I planned on counting what I had eaten for Thanksgiving, but once I started to calculate everything on my iPhone I decided it was too much of a pain in the giblets. I did keep a mental image off what I was eating and I believe I did an amazing job.

Considering the kind of person I was at this time last year, I am very proud of myself. Laughing

Weight Loss looking down at some foods Aug 16 2008

I'm 5 weeks into my healthy lifestyle and I read the package contents religeously. I'll look at, for example, a HUNGRY-MAN Meal which on average has 900 calories and say to myself "For that many calories, I could eat three freaking meals of food that will fill me up for more than 30 minutes." I never cared about the calorie content of what I was consuming and I'm paying for it now. Even when I finally reach the point where I can be happy to see my reflection and be a little more generous with my intake, I wouldn't want to be overweight again. I'm sure I won't be quite as picky by then, though. I haven't had any of the foods I used to eat, but I bet I won't enjoy them as much now anyway. I pretty much stopped drinking diet soda and now, even though I still enjoy them, I don't find them to be quite as good as before.

The Lounge am I that fat that I cant find a boyfriend? Jul 24 2008

I've always been attracted to many different types of women (short, tall, thin, fat & etc...), but none have ever been attracted to me. I'm pretty sure my weight is the problem with my self image, so I eagerly await the day that this weight is all behind me. I truly do believe that it is what's on the inside that matters and I hope to find a woman, one day, who feels the same way. No one's perfect so why should there bodies be?

I work with a guy who sleeps with several women on a daily basis and it's rather annoying to hear about it because I would like to find just one. Not that I actually put myself out there but, from what I can gather, I think overweight women have an easier time finding that special someone than overweight men. From my POV, it's because overweight women are still beautiful but overweight men, at least in my case, are just disgusting to look at. Man, I never let anyone take my picture because of my weight.

Anyway, OP you are beautiful, regardless of your weight...someone's out there for you, you just have to wade through the trash to find them

I know Kroger carries one brand of tarragon in the spice section. I looked for it for a customer one time and was only able to find that one brand. Every Kroger may not carry it (depending on sales), but more than likely they do. Of course, any grocery store should carry it, but I can only tell you what I know. It took me almost 5 mintues to find it sifting through all of the different spices.

Foods poll: foods you avoid Jul 23 2008

I'm trying to stay away from any food that will give me cravings. So far, light beer makes me want something....unhealthy. I'm staying away from candy, of course, bread, pasta and fried foods. I figure the less I have of that unhealthy junk, the better I will feel and the faster my progress. I'm happier now than I have ever been in my life and it all seems to be from eating healthy. I still miss eating the fattening food, but I can't say that I actually want it. The "prize" outweighs a few moments of glory.

Motivation What would you have said? (to a rude grocery store clerk) Jul 22 2008
07:15 (UTC)
21

I probably would have agreed with him. It sounds like he was just making an observation (possibly just making small-talk & at the same time venting over the unhealthy foods in the Bakery). I am the Frozen Food Manager at a local grocery store and I can certainly agree with the cashier's sentiment. I do believe that he meant nothing by his comment, but I also believe that he would not have said it to a person who was not overweight. I'm sure running a cash register ran be rather tedious & boring and he just wanted to start a conversation...a lot of the cashier's I run into are rude, immature and won't stop talking to a fellow worker long enough to acknowledge me.

Just keep smiling. Smile
