Babe dont be too hard on yourself. This is a tough ride...losing weight that is.

This may sound stupid, but, losing weight is like being a member of AA. Its a 12 step program. Its difficult, you make amends to yourself, blah blah..you know what i mean:)   Its a one day at a time>For me its one hour at a time>) Stay strong=mind and body.

Here's a bit of advice:

1. Don't quite. Anything worth having is worth working at and pursuing.

2. Watch your calories. Calorie count. Talk to your doctor about this.

3. Be reasonable with yourself with your weight loss goals. Weight loss can take time and effort...

4. Try and incorporate ways to be active i.e., walk, toss the Frisbee around, walk etc

5. Dont eat past 8pm

6. Drink water @ least 8 8ounces/serving

7. Allow yourself a treat occasionally.

8. Maintain a food diary. Record what you eat at every meal.

Bob speed....and keep in touch!!

Hey all...

I went out yesterday for a run/walk for 30 minutes.  It wasn't too bad. My calves are burning and kinda hurt. it was a bumpy, hilly terrain.  I think I am going to talk it easy today.

victoriamartel..don't worry about the maynards...what is a "maynard" anyway?? we all break down one time or another;) Just start fresh and encourage yourself. Take it one day at a time...

Well I got a bit of activity Sunday. I went out for a jog for like 1 hr.  It was a struggle at first but 20 minutes into it I got into a groove. I thought I was gonna die...literally:)  I think I will try and do this type of activity 3 times a week. Hopefully,  I can make it a habit.

I couldnt really do anything today...cause it was downpouring rain and quite windy...

Hey ladyelizabeth>)

Thanks for your response.  Whats funny is that my uncle used to call my sister "ladyashley" and her middle name is elizabeth...isn't that weird?

Anyways, thanks for responding, I am hoping to inspire and  to find inspiration and motivation through you guys.  What kind of cardio are planing on doing??  I was gonna mtn bike or try and run ( i repeat run) ya I may be tall and have long legs, but my lung capacity is null...i think I would need an oxygen tank flunky  to accompany me on jaunts in the woods:)

So are you gonna go see the new Sam Rami film this weekend?

After being let go from a job and slumping into depression and having a lot of time on my hands as of late...well you get the picture...right?? But I am feeling alot better and now I am wanting to get rid of this pesky lbs off my butt/hips/thighs/stomach...well everywhere:) But I am determined to get back on track. Looking for some inspiration and motivation. Whose with me!!!??

Fifth Miracle and Etahbear, how are you two healing up? Sorry about your injuries!

I was feeling so sprite and light last week, but now feel bloated and thick. How in the heck does that happen?

Anyone know of a low calorie icecream w/out hydrogenated oil?

Oh yeah, I met another guy. A 6'4" stunner. He gave me his email address (sign of the times).

Skookum...Thanks alot...Nice ref to the great Purple One:) You are quite the minx on the prowl;) I miss dating...I look at my husband sometimes and Im like, "what the hell was I thinking <kidding!!>> No I dont!:)  LMAO!

As for me?? I am doing alright...Surprisingly, I have gotten back on the bike the18th. I was a bit hesitant at first...I was more or les in 3rd gear the entire 6 miles...But the second day, I went full throttle!! It was fantastic!! I forgot how much I enjoy mtn biking...its sucha release; and I havent looked back.  My road rash has healed up quite nicely...still wearing the pressure bandage...but other than that, I am NOT gonna let this put me 10 steps back from which I began.

Thanx:)

Hi Everybody

If you hear me crying...snivel snivel...I fell off my bike last week and landed in course gravel Wed (13th)Cry...got some road rash on my left thigh..So I have kinda fallen off (pardon the pun...i couldnt help myself; I can see comedy through my painful experience;)

If you have never expierence falling off your bike...in front of folks>Not only is it embarrassing, but it just proves I have two left feet and a complete klutz...Its kinda crazy...it was morning rush, I was on the sidewalk and NO BODY pulled over to see if I was fine...CRAZY>>I was on the ground FACE down just in shock for what seems like forever...couldn't believe it..But through it all... I made it into work on time...go figure?:)

Luckily, I came out with my life and I fortunately wasn't in the flow of traffic (which could've been hella worse!).  Oddly enough, before the accident, I was thinking to myself, man, I dont need to wear my helmet...Man, I really rethought that one:)Laughing

I have been working on my fractile relaxation and visualizing myself riding on Monday...my rash is healing rather well given the accident happened last week (here's a tip...hopefully you NEVER have to use it...I use Manuka honey on my rash...its a specail type of honey that  New Zealanders use; its totally homeopathic. )

Anywho, I really missed y'all>>I will be in touch..gotta go change my dressings now:)

Congrats on everyone's losses! I struggle to join the ranks again weekly....

I am soooooo frustrated.  You cut calories and watch what you eat and then you are told you eat too little...so you up them to the calculated number and then you still don't lose, you workout 5-6 times a week doing weights and cardio, etc... and live more healthfully than 1/2 of those you know and NO REAL changes in weight in 3 months!!!!

Just needed to get that out today....it is just one of those days!!!!!!! SORRY!

*phew* feeling a little better now...LOL :)

Ok lets start from the beginning. What is a ususal day for you; Like whats your daily cal intake? Are you watching your salt? Your working out is GREAT!! FANTASTIC!! You sound like you have a lot of motivation and drive...keep that going, it will make a HUGE difference in your weight loss goals

I do cardio pretty much everyday...but weights too everyday too?? Man that a lot. I say give yourself a day or two off so your body can recoup. I guess it boils down to calorie intake and sodium...sodium will knock you down like a heavy weight boxer in the ringCry. Read your labels. Also are your drinking lots of water??

So remember, reduce the sodium, give your body a rest from all the excersise you've been doing as of late and keep that awesomme motivation going it makes all the diff (run-on sentence>>I know i know..:( Dont be soo hard on yourself kid, were all here to help!!

I also find that keeping a food journal of what I eat everyday. I know it sounds uber lame..but I'll tell ya it really makes you honest in this weight loss game>>> Let me know if that helps

Thanks:)Laughing

shookum and 2lilguys Happy Monday (is there such a thing?:)

Well for you guys its xtra specail!! Congrats on your hard work and dedication>>>it has certainly paid off:) Hopefully, I will be able to join you guys in the winners circle;)

As for me, I still have a phobia of scales.>I was determined and went to Super-Walmart with the sole purpose of purchasing a scale...I got as far as picking one out and even put in my basket.>>but when I got in line to make the purchase...i punked out>>>and ran straight for the exit sliding doors>>>I know I am  dork.>Its alright, I'll get there EVENTUALLY:)  I am still on track...I am consuming 2K calories a day>>but for the past week or so I am at a deficeit of 200(avg 1800/day). I know its kinda low...but I just dont have the appetite I normally do...I have scoured the internet to figure out what that might be.>>to all you expierenced weight loss guys...can you tell me why??

Still getting my aerobic activity in biking into work and during the weekends.  It awesomme, cause I can now see definition in my legs and calves and they are far stronger than before!!  Oh and Expecting my period to show up anyday now...my strength during this time kinda decreases.  I''ll be gosh darn, my other half brought home icecream and fixings for sundae's...scallywag!! To remove the tempation I hoped on my bike for a ride.>>

Since I have reduced dramatically the amount of sodium in my diet...I am expiereincing far less bloating...dont need to wear my menstruation bras (2 cups larger than normal (yaowza right??!!) My cup fillith over

Hey Tall Ladies!

I am sorry to report>>I had a coke, handfull of strawberry twizzlers and micky d's fries (as I am a vegetarian:) this weekend. I didnt completly fall off the wagon. Later that day, I got on the trail and went twenty five miles. I tried to get my boyfriend in on the mix.>>but he didnt seem intersted<<SIGH!!>>He felt his time would be better used by going to the comic book store and then afterwards, going to my favorite desert shop>>hate him:)

<<I am still biking in to work everyday. I have lightened my load on my bookbag..Every Monday, I drive in with my weeks worth of clothes and leave them under my desk.  It totally made a difference this week so far.  I usually struggle going up several of the steep hills on my path and today>>Its a piece of cake with my adjustments:) (hmmmm cake!)

I stil havent gotten up the courage to get a scale I am still working on that(surely I will get there>>hopefully I will get there(fingers crossed) I guess I just dont want to be discouraged>>I know the numbers on the scale dont really tell the full story (inches lost, general feeling of oneself etc)

dplatzer: this is gonna sound kinda gross but it works for me whenever I want yummy sweet treats>>I down a tablespoon of honey and eat a piece of fruit (apple, or some canteloupe) usually does the trick for me.>>Let me know if it does the trick for you too:) Also, its a mind over matter.>>I also sit in a room by myself (lights dimmed) and just meditate on what actions would best benefit me.  Good Luck:)

okay. I steer clear of breads pastas etc unless whole grain or wheat..but even then i don't eat that much. that's where my weight gain comes from.

what about exercise? what's a good enjoyable exercise that kicks your but into shape? i'm not a fan of running because i was never good at it , but occasionally ill go for a 20-30min run so i've been doing workout videos. i know cycling is good but the class is at 6am at school.

i might have asked this question before but i dont remember haha!

wish me luck on my speech and test!

Ugh!! I am right there with you, I hate running. What I do enjoy is aerobics, biking, moderate weight lifting(toning primarily) and speed walking

Oh and good luck on your speech test (fingers crossed:) Thanks for your advice!

I like using a scale that uses .5 lb. increments instead of full pounds.

Gosh darn it that half  lb. weight loss is important to meTongue out

2lilguys>>That would be importment to me too...Awesomme advice!! Instead of the, "extra 1/2 an inch" it SHOULD be the that xtra 1/2 a lb>>lol<<

Ahh here I am in my office, once again for another week of stuff to do?? Aint I lucky?:)  Hi everbody!! I trust everybody had great weekends>>mine was far to short. But I made the best of it. I did fall off a bit...I had a warm, chocolately cookie fresh baked..I was caught at a weak point. But I dusted myself off and got back on the horse of fitness and health:)   I biked into work Monday, Today (Tuesday)  and tomorrow (Wed)  Here's a question for you ladies, When I bike into work< I usually have my back pack stuffed with my work clothes, water, food (lunch, snack) work shoes...its like 8lbs of stuff>>I am wondering how many more calories I am burning with the added weight on my bike>>HELP

I have been drinking like 8 glasse of water everyday (routine)...taking my vitamines (thats always been a routine of mine since I was in college) I think I will take the plunge and get a scale this weekend. Can anybody suggest one??

Feeling really good. Not ready to weigh myself yet. I think I need more time to get my mind prepared for the drama:)  The way I see it, my clothes fit well. I dont have my stretch marks anymore, nor do I have the double chin (LOL) I used to have...  SOOOO I figure, I just need to keep up the work >>>well maybe increase my activity a bit more>> Talk to y'all later:)

I live really close to where I work, so i  ride my bicycle maybe 3x's a week;       6 miles there and back.  It helps with the high cost of gas too and its enviromentally friendly.

During the weekends,  I go to the local bike trail for a 10 mile trek (totaling 20 miles to and fro). Im no lance armstrong (who would want to>>LOL) but I manage.

I am thinking about buying a weighted vest to use for hiking.. That reminds me I need to buy a scale too(since I am new to this string)

Hope that helps!! Have a great weekend

Crydavis27>>You can do it!!!>>> I started off being 200lbs @ 5"11" .  I reduced my calories and started walking and getting more movement into my life (walking, biking, etc) I have lost about on avg 15-20lbs in 3 mos.

Learn from my mistakes, stay away from salt. Salt in foods, and table salt; that was my down fall when I intially started trying to loose weight once upon a time:)

Its been smooth sailing since I made that discovery:)

Hi Lauren,

I hope its not to late to join. I posted some comments earlier>>and I noticed new members ask for permission to join...so here it is.>>Can I join?? PLEASE!!!

I am really excited for the weigh in tomorrow. I have to stop by Walmart today to pickup a scale...I hope we (the scale and I)  can be friendly, cause that last time I meet a scale I crushed it in my garbage compactor and ate a pint of rocky road as a sign of protest(lol!)

No but in all seriousness, i am ready to make a postive change:)

Hi Everybody, I am Eileen and I too am a tall girl! I am 5' 11" and about 180lbs. Due to the gas crunch I have for the past 2months been riding my bike to work (3x's a week) and eating a reduced calorie diet. My weight goals are 165 (would make Eileen uber happy) But I would be happy with 170.

I will upload a photo of me later this week>)

Looking for some support and motivation:)
