Wow...I've been away awhile. I'm SO happy and proud of those of you who have stuck it out! I've gained everything back. And I'm no where near ready to start trying again. Thank you to pbear123 and lillysmominpa for adding me as friends! It reminded me of this group and the wonderful ladies here...otherwise I probably never would have popped in again. |

I'm so glad to see people are still posting! That's great to hear about your holiday linz. :) I'm still around...no scale still though. I've been walking every day, been eating too much though. There have just been SO many changes in my life lately that it's been hard to stay on track. I've just started a one year contract position at a college here so hopefully things will be more stable now... |

Is it financially possible to just take an extra year/semester? That way you could spread out your coursework and still finish both. I know personally I would want to kick myself for getting so far and then not finishing it.

Again, I'm still not weighing in because I don't have my scale. I quit running (doesn't surprise me at all) but I'm still walking every day for at least half an hour. Usually around an hour (although split up into two half hours :P). I feel good, tired though. I don't think I'm eating enough protein and/or good fats. My days now consist of cereal with skim milk, a fruit, a sandwich or a salad, a fruit, and then whatever I have for dinner. My routine needs to be revamped! As soon as I get home from work I feed the dog, change, and then take her out for a walk. By the time I get home I'm sooo tired and lazy haha. Good work to all you ladies :) |

I used to live in Guelph, and in our compost pick up we were allowed to put in absolutely anything. Meat, dairy, bread, paper towel, kleenex, pet feces, etc. But I do understand how that could b e problematic in a backyard. It does suck that everything city run has been shut down... :( |

I find it disgusting how much garbage Toronto has produced in this time. You would think it would make people think "wow, we are really wasteful" now that they can actually see how much has accumulated. As for the garbage sites stinking, why the heck don't people rinse out their garbage and recyclables, and start composting waste food? Buy a composter! I understand that it would be difficult for those who live in apartments, though. I really don't have that much sympathy for Toronto right now.

Welcome back holfisher and v_avila!!! Thanks for reminding me about measurements loosingit57. I really should be doing that especially since I'm without a scale for who the heck knows how long! I could buy another one....but I have two at my old place...such a waste of money. On a good note, I started RUNNING! With the new foster pooch. It tuckers her out soooo much better than a walk, and leave me free to do things I need to do without throwing a ball and being pestered for hours on end :P. They aren't long runs right now. And it's more of an interval sort of thing. But I LOVE it. I had myself convinced that I hated running, but it's not true at all. I've gone the past two nights, and hopefully I can keep it up. :) |

Irresponsible dog owners drive me nuts! I'm currently fostering a dog who doesn't have the greatest reputation for being friendly with other dogs. I'm clearly am not ever going to take her to the dog park or ever have her off leash! There are a lot of dogs that live in my neighborhood, and in the near by park (not off leash OR a dog park) so many owners let their dogs off leash. I'm worried that one day one of those dogs isn't going to have good re call and just come barrelling over to say hi, and I'm going to be the "bad guy" because my dog was aggressive. Train your dog, jerk off! |

I feel sooo good lately. Still no scale, but I've been walking and eating SO much better. The last couple days there have been some not so healthy choices, but it's all been in moderation. No binging! Keep up the good work ladies! |

Well I'm back! And I completely forgot my scale in the pile of stuff that didn't fit into the truck. I'll get it back eventually, I just don't know when. On a better note, I have a job at the college here, and it's faster to walk than take the bus! So I'll be walking at least half an hour every day, which I'm thrilled about. I went grocery shopping and didn't buy ANY junk. All my meals are going to be healthy! Dinners haven't been so great this weekend, but I blame that on the whirlwind of just moving to a new city. I just realized I'm back to almost exactly where I started last year, and I'm really disappointed in myself, but it's also nothing new. I've done the losing/regaining thing more times than I can count. I do know that it has to be a life style change, and I know that I'm a lot more concious about my food choices. My main problem is really portion size. I think the main thing will be getting into the routine of ALWAYS counting everything and using my scale. Each time I try to lose weight I get closer and closer to actually making those life changes. Keeping my fingers crossed! I've written up a "life changes plan" for myself...I'm actually going to post it to my profile right now. |

Hey! I've been doing absolutely terribly once again. I'm moving July 1 to live on my own though, so I'm going to have A LOT more control of what's in the house. I'll weigh in on the first if I remember, but I might forget because of moving/packing stress! |

Hey everyone! I'll be missing weigh in this week because I'm going out of town...it's also that time of the month so I think I'd rather not weigh in anyway! happytop...you're only eating 1200? I would really suggest eating more. 1200 is the absolute minimum that an adult SEDENTARY (or really really tiny) female should be eating. You're having trouble getting to even 1200? Maybe try adding nuts to your diet. A small handful of raw almonds can amount to almost 200 calories.

When was the last time she had a vet check up? Frequent inapppropriate urination can be a sign of diabetes. A simple (although likely expensive!) blood test can let you know.
Edit to add: I don't mean to scare you, it could just be that she's a puppy...but I know I'd rather be safe than sorry! She also might be drinking more than you realize throughout the day. Maybe use a container that you know the volume of so you can truly monitor her intake? |

The Book of Negroes - Lawrence Hill The Glass Castle - Jeanette Walls and I can't WAIT for September because the 7th book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series comes out! I've been waiting four years for it. ETA: I also absolutely loved My Friend Leanord - James Frey, and The Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom. |

Exercise, consistency, and conditioning programs! Everyone has had excellent advise for you. I volunteer for a rescue that trains almost exclusively touch free and it's awesome. The mouthing is the hardest thing to do touch free (jumping up to say hello is also hard), because let's be honest, it can hurt! But ignoring is the BEST way to go. It almost always gets worse before it gets better (extinction bursts)...the same way we'll press a button on a remote with dead batteries harder/faster before admitting to ourselves that it isn't working. The extinction burst is usually where people give up, and what they don't realize it that they were almost through the undesirable behaviour! Jerking your hand away when she "bites" or something similar can actually seem like a game to them. Ceasing playtime whenever she mouths is also a good tactic. I don't have any websites to recommend, but I do have books! The Culture Clash - Jean Donaldson These books focus on positive reinforcement training, which almost all current and leading research on dog behaviour and learning theory is saying is most effective! |

Well, I'm absolutely disgusted with myself. Last weigh in: 168 Today: 172.3 A lot of it will be water weight, fortunately. But there's definitely some real weight gain in there too. Why can't I do this!? I have NO willpower, and the lady I'm living with has candy, chocolate, chips, and snacks EVERYWHERE in the house. I'm moving out in July to live in my own apartment, and I know things will be better there...I just need to try and keep it under control until then! I also played ball last night for the first time this season and my muscles are soooo sore. Could they be retaining some water too? I don't know. Great job everyone else though! I need to read all these posts more often to keep myself motivated. |

Maybe I'm completely misinformed, but can't bees just you know, fly away if they don't like where they are? Unlike other livestock who are dependant on humans for their survival. This is assuming that the hive is located out of doors, of course. |

Crate training and kongs are meant for eachother! The dog I was fostering went from barking like a fool every time he went in, from RUNNING up the stairs and going in by himself whenever he saw me filling his kong with yummies. :) |

I know it's a gain, but I really don't feel bad about it. I've finally got my head back in the game! I feel different again, motivated. I don't feel the need to be shoving food down my throat every hour. I'm excited to start cooking again! And being happier and feeling better. So screw you, 0.2 lb gain. You've got nothing! |
