| Health & Support | Side effects from birth control pills? | Sep 22 2009 18:07 (UTC) |

Yes. From what I've seen, many women who have tried different birth control pills and methods have different side effects than someone else. Everyone's bodies react differently to the hormones in birth control. I was on all different kinds of pills for many years. They all had some side effect. I finally went on NuvaRing for a few years and didn't have any side effects at all. I thought though that maybe that was a cause for my not being able to lose weight. I've been off of NuvaRing for about 5 months and havent noticed any change. I am not on Apri - a generic pill. I now have headaches every day (again) and am VERY moody. I want to go back to NuvaRing but can't afford it. Apri is $10 a month and NuvaRing is $40. I want to switch to another pill until I can find something I can tolerate. Going to be calling my doctor soon. I'd say switch to a different generic brand or a progestin only pill if you are willing to try that. Good luck! |

Sorry I have been neglecting the boards. I got a little upset after Memorial Day and how I threw my good eating and exercising out the window. Not that I am fully back on track yet but I do have great news. I am full swing into the skydiving thing. I just start my AFF (Accelerated FreeFall) training this past Saturday. I am totally excited. I got to do my first 'solo' jump (two instructors jump at the same time though to help with body position) and my canopy control was awesome and and I landed safely on the ground. It was great. Anyway - so, now that I am getting into this full swing, I really need to get in shape. The last time I was at the gym (this past Thursday) I spoke to the trainer and was asking tips on how to strengthen my back and legs (holding a heavy parachute on your back is a bit challenging when you aren't in shape). So, hopefully this will give me some incentive to get back on track. I hope everyone is doing well and I will try very hard to get on here more. My current weight is still 148. TTOM is about to end so hopefully with some hard work and dedication, I can see some results. |

I didn't lose anything. Quite the opposite. No need to say how much since it went up instead of down. Can you tell I am hatin' on myself lately? |

iced- Thanks! I went in the beginning of April and I believe I will be going again this weekend. Nice weather is expected. Every nice day I look up to the sky and wish I was jumping from a perfectly good airplane 13,000 feet above the ground. It's so wonderful. I definitely fell in love with it after the first time. |

Well, I did horribly all weekend. Well, Friday and Saturday werent bad but I made up for that on Sunday and Monday. I won't even admit what I did but it's bad. Going to the gym today. I read everyones posts from over the weekend. You ladies are doing really well. I envy you all. I am very, very weak. I find any and every excuse to be relaxed and 'enjoy the holiday.' Eh, here's to starting over...again! |

Well, I didn't want to ignore you all but if I could opt out of this weeks weigh in, I would really appreciate it. Let's just say it's up from last week. I won't say what I am at but I will get it back down. Just that weigh in day is not being nice to me. =( I hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day weekend. |

Awww, sorry to hear you are upset. Honestly, I can't believe my ex-husband and his current girlfriend aren't engaged yet. I like her so I am in a different scenario. It will get easier with time and one day you will realize it was for the better. It almost always ends up that way. Good luck!! |

I did well over the weekend. Saturday I went to the gym and did over 6 miles on the elliptical. Pretty discouraging when I got on the scale this morning and it's no different but hopefully by weigh in on Friday there will be a change. jehzimom - I had my fiance say something relative to that. He likes how my one pair of pants fit snug and we went to breakfast Sunday morning and he was of course looking at my butt (the reason he likes those pants) and said they weren't fitting so tight anymore. To me, thats a good thing. To him, not so much, Haha! Good luck ladies!! |

Skydiving. Well, I am looking at going next weekend again (2nd time) but I would definitely reward myself with that once I drop my 21 lbs. |

Looking forward to 144!! I hit 143 over a week ago but the only reason was because I had dental work done and I seriously didn't consume any food or liquid for over 24 hours. It was horrible. So, I didn't count that. |

I did really well yesterday. I ate well, went to the gym, had a healthy dinner, didn't snack like mad when I got home (thats my bad habit). It definitely shows, this morning scale read 146, yesterday it was 149 I think. I always end up consuming too much salt and snacks at night that it hurts me in the morning. I wish I could stay away from the scale every morning. Once a week would be good. Going to the gym again today. I am hoping to do just as well! I also posted about going off of my birth control and hoping it will help. Day 1 - no birth control. First time in a few years. Hopefully it will help. |

So, I just made the horrible decision to go to Kohl's on my lunch break and try to look for a shirt to wear Saturday. Saturday my fiance's band has a concert. To work, out places, I wear the same 5 outfits EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Not because I don't have clothes but because 1. I can't find anything I like anymore, 2. Because I have a whole closet (walk in closet) full of beautiful clothes that I can't fit into. So, I leave Kohl's even more depressed then when I walked in. Feeling really crappy on myself and beating myself up for allowing it to get this bad. My poor fiance is trying so hard to help me through the emotional struggles. It does in the sense that he is always there for me to cry to, complain to and never once gets frustrated. He is overweight too so I know he can empathize with me. I am so incredibly frustrated and sad and wish I knew what would actually work so I could go ahead and do that. Edited to add: Today is a gym day though so i know I will feel better after that but then I end up looking in the mirror again. The next non-gym day I have is Friday so I am going to try to do my home work out at 4am on that day, see how I do. |

I enjoyed watching the finale although a bit disappointed with Helen winning. She looked quite ill to me and it makes me wonder about how she acheived that severe loss at home in that short period of time. Tara looked great and healthy. Mike looks amazing and I cried when he came ripping through the before picture. He is such a sweetie. I enjoyed watching this season and only hope the people in the next season inspire so many others. |

Can I please join this group? I really need somewhere I can go for daily inspiration and motivation!
Age: 25 Height: 5'1" Current Weight: 147 (I have been bouncing between 146-150 for 2 years and haven't been successful) Goal Weight: 122-125 Highest weight: 150 Exercise: I go to the gym Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. I do 4 miles on the elliptical (about 10 minutes / mile) and do a little bit of weights. I am thinking of doing my "Walk Away the Pounds" DVD on the days I cannot go to the gym (this does mean on those days I would need to wake up at 4am). Weaknesses: Grilling (now that its warm), beer, salty snacks. Occupation: Admin Assistant - Sit on my butt almost 9 hours a day. Hobbies: Newly found hobby, skydiving. Bowling, baseball, amusement parks, spending quality time with my daughter, music. In 2005, I officially started my weight loss journey at 150 lbs. I always was a bit 'heavier' but didn't care about my weight until I hit this weight (2 years after my daughter was born). I successful dropped down to 122 by eating 2 'meals' a day and snacking on fruit almost all day long. My calories were quite low (now I know you shouldnt do that) and I exercised 1 hour every single day. Sick or not, I did it. I was a stay-at-home mom at the time. Over the next year or so I gained about 10 lbs back and lost it again (I was a smoker at the time). Now, I have been a member on here since I think March of 2007. My weight was around 146 or so and has only bounced back and forth a few pounds since. I am very frustrated with this. I know I cannot do what I did before (not eat enough) so I have been trying this the 'right' way for so long. I finally joined a gym back in February and still haven't seen results. I used to live on fast food and rarely touch it now. I don't drink soda anymore (if I do it's diet but thats rare), I drink my coffee black now and I used to use A LOT of sugar and creamer). These facts make me so frustrated that I cannot lose weight. I have never tried so hard (and the right way) and not gotten anywhere. I guess I just need some help and guidance to see what I can do differently and better. My mental state is weakening to the point of thoughts crossing my mind of diet pills, unhealthy means of weight loss and back to what I did 2 years ago. Logically I know I shouldn't and can't do that stuff but it doesn't mean I haven't thought about it. =( Hopefully I can get back into the mindset and set some realistic yet challenging goals for myself. (Sorry post was so long). |

The one instructor was about 240 probably and tall, maybe 6'1". Go for it! You WILL NOT regret it. And you have a better chance at dying driving your car then you do skydiving. Oh, I forgot to add, my tandem, Eric. He has had over 14,200 jumps! I couldn't believe it. In other words, I wasn't worried. We landed perfect, on our feet and I blame it all on him. He definitely knows what he is doing. |

There is a weight limit. I have heard different things though. I thought the limit was like 240 but when we were there, my tandem kept trying to get my fiance to go and he said, "I am over the weight limit." and I asked my instructor what the limit was and he said 275. Now, maybe that is just with him (he is kind of little). I have no idea. |

Well, it was totally awesome! I will have the video up soon. I will add a pic or two up here too. I even got to be up there over a minute longer because me and my tandem were the lightest. I am 146 and he was probably only 20 lbs heavier than me. It was absolutely amazing and I am definitely doing it again!!! Woohoo!!!! |

Jules - Yes, it was one of the things I eventually wanted to do. I was thinking it would go in the order of, parasailing, bungee jumping then skydiving maybe one day. I am starting with the one I thought I could never do. I actually just spoke to them to confirm. Woo hoo!!!! |

Well I have a bit of an update already. I am going Sunday instead. The forecast for Saturday is not so great for around here. It's not supposed to rain but the winds are expected to be 20+ sustained and 45 MPH gusts. So, I was able to re-schedule until Thursday so I did. Sunday it's supposed to be sunny and 63 degrees. So, I am going Sunday at noon. I don't have the internet at home anyway so I will be updating on Monday!! Thanks everyone! |
