| Weight Loss | The 2-5 pounds to go and stuck thread ... Join me to lose the last few pounds! | Jan 21 2009 23:10 (UTC) |

good evening!
I am 40, 5'1" and began in July of last year at 152 pounds. I run three times a week and go to they gym three times a week (mainly cardio, but some weights also). My burn meter (set at sedentary and I log my activity) is 1530 a day. My calorie goal is 1330. This usually provides me between 500 and 700 calorie deficits each day. I'm really looking forward to this thread - I do much better when I am involved with one, but I feel awkward posting to threads where people are working so hard and struggling to lose weight and I'm unhappy about my last 6 pounds. Thanks everyone! |

Challenge weight loss - 21.2 lbs, .8 pounds to Challenge Goal I'm calling it a "win" my friends! We are leaving for 12 days of vacation today, sitting by the pool and enjoying the sunshine in the company of family. I'm not counting calories, not weighing my food and not logging ANYthing. Back to work in January though - my original long term goal is 119, but I'll reevaluate after vacation. I'm not sure 6 pounds is going to be enough to put me where I want to be. Thank you for all your support this year, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or Joyous whatever holiday you may observe. Peace to all. |

| Weight Loss | Approaching the Finish Line Group: Only 20 pounds or LESS left until your goal!!! | Dec 04 2008 15:52 (UTC) |

Made it through the Thanksgiving Holiday (week) and now I'm back on track with a great sense of purpose. I am 2 lbs away from my Christmas goal and 8 pounds away from my long term goal. I may have to re-evaluate when I get to 119, we'll see. Thursday Check In Current Weight: 127.0 lbs Progress since last weigh-in: -1.4 lbs Hooray for Me: After not counting or exercising for a full week I was able to just settle right back into it. I think I may be working toward the elusive lifestyle change. My daughter took advantage of me being on a week off and we went to Chipotle (my fav fast food, which I have not eaten since June) and I just splurged, had the regular. It was awesome. Now I'm back to my new normal. Needs Improvement: Not drinking enough water, the cold weather is making it tough for me. Hope some of you others will surface this week also, and hopefully with something positive to report. |

| Fitness | can I....., run? | Dec 04 2008 12:25 (UTC) |

C25k - I just completed the program, after NEVER running, never wanting to run, never doing any type of sports. It's awesome. Follow the program though, if you need to repeat a week do it, listen to your body. The Robert Ullrey's podcast was a life saver for me also, so all I had to do was run and do what the podcast told me. For me this was the key, since if I had left it up to myself I would not have progressed as well. Please give it a try - I made a promise to myself that I would complete the program and if I still hated running I wouldn't ever think about it again. This Saturday I'm running in a 5k race. |

I have my activity set at sedentary, then I add in the burn for any extra exercise. I do mix up the gym work, but our gym does not have a pool. I recently completed the C25k program, which is why I am running 3 days a week - I think it's important for me to stick to that schedule until I become an established runner. Last week I took the full week off from counting (it was Thanksgiving here and we were out of town) and didn't work out at all, just normal busy stuff. I'm hoping that will aid in kicking my weight loss back up. My goal has been to hit 125 by Christmas and I thought I was going to surpass that, until the past month. While I recognize the importance of being healthy over being a certain weight, I'm feeling very let down after all this work and it doesn't look like I'll make my Christmas goal. Thank you everyone who offered up advice. |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 129.4 Progress this week: -0.4 pounds Hooray for me: I'm just about finished with week 7 (of 9 weeks) of the c25k running program. I'm running 3 days a week, going to the gym 3 days a week. Needs Improvement: The Holiday season is beginning, so the eating hasn't been great this week. I was "that person" who brought a platter of apple slices to a Church brunch this morning. I knew there would be tons of pastries, etc so I needed something sweet to eat. Apples are better than donuts - right?!! I had a small spoonful of scrambled egg casserole and a spoon of hashed browns. Other than that, I stuck with the apples. 4.4 pounds by Christmas, it seems like such a small number, but with all the Holiday celebrations, and my husbands birthday between now and then, I know it's going to take some work. Next week is going to have to be a very disciplined week for me, before we go away for Thanksgiving. Happy to hear the good news about your sister Tammy. |

| Fitness | Has anyone here finished Couch-to-5k? | Nov 08 2008 20:31 (UTC) |

I just completed week 6 yesterday. I began as a person who has never run a single day in her life. It took me at least the first month to not dread it. I agree with the idea of setting your goal as running an actual 5k race. I am scheduled to run one the weekend after I complete the program. No room to get lazy, that's for sure! I fully plan to continue to run when I complete the program. I feel it's VERY important to stick to the program, even if you don't feel like you're getting a full work out early in the program. Go for it! |

check out www.coolrunning.com - they created the c25k program and have LOTS of resources for all types of running. They approach running from all levels, including beginners. I just completed week 6 of the c25k program, it's awesome. I don't think with this program it's vital to run outside. Read up on the program and the thought process behind it, I think you'll find all the answers to your concerns. Best of luck! |

Challenge weight loss - 17.4 lbs, 4.6 pounds to Challenge Goal I guess it was a premature freakout last week about my weight loss stalling. I'm still running the c25k program, I really think that is keeping my metabolism up. melinda, SO happy to "see" you again. Congratulations to all of you who are still going in the right direction, even if you aren't going to make your Christmas goal, all of you will definitely weigh LESS than you did when you began the challenge, so I believe that constitutes a SUCCESS! |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 129.8 Progress this week: -1.4 pounds The long conveted, highly anticipated 120's are mine!! Hooray for me: I kept up my running program and kept my diet close to my goal (except for my wonderful cheat day that included chips, guacamole and fajitas!) and didn't have to hang just outside the reach of the 120's. I would love to make it to 125 by Christmas. Needs Improvement: Keeping everything balanced, I need to focus on keeping all portions of my diet balanced, not just aim for good protein one day, then high veggies the next. Tammy, so sorry to hear about your sister. Remember to care for yourself also. |

gotta go with the Twix or the Hershey's Dark - my kids just automatically pass them over to Mom! They're both past the Trick or Treat ages, so luckily we won't have any candy coming in tonight. I'm giving out Tootsie Pops, which will tempt me ZERO, sorry kids, but I have to be selfish with this decision!! |

Challenge weight loss - 16.0 lbs, 6.0 pounds to Challenge Goal I had SO hoped to make it into the 120's before my loss stalled. We're going to a birthday party tomorrow, so I'm going to have a good cheat day, then back to my regular schedule. Maybe that will give me a good loss again. The 6 pounds is still within reach by Christmas though, so I"m not feeling TOO down about it. |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 131.0 Progress this week: -0.2 pounds I knew it was coming, it was only a matter of time, but I was hoping to make it into the 120's before the weight loss came to a screeching halt! We're going to a birthday party this weekend, so I'm planning on a cheat day, maybe that will help things along a bit. Hooray for me: Despite no movement on the scale, I have continued to do my C25K program, tomorrow is the last day for Week 5. I went to a children's Halloween party last night, ate a cup of salty oil-popped popcorn, that was my big treat, no candy at all! Needs Improvement: While working hard at upping my protein, I have let my veggie intake fall off drastically again. I need to work on balance instead of one slice I guess. |

luckiest - check out www.coolrunning.com - they are the "writers" of the C25K series, but I remember seeing on their site something about training for a 10K. I'm sure since you're an established runner you should be able to get yourself ready for this by Thanksgiving! ps - I LOVE your screen name, and the caption of "are you who you want to be" is so perfect too. I think we should all ask ourselves that question every day. Whenever I hear that song it sticks with me for hours! |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 131.2 Progress this week: -1.2 pounds Hooray for me: Completed 2 of 3 runs for week #4 of C25K. I'm almost afraid to put this in writing, but at the end of yesterday's run, I almost felt something that resembled strong. I'd really love to keep feeling that way. I ran in a park near my house yesterday, on some great paths through the woods. I'm going to try that again, maybe that helped improve the experience?! I also did a very good job of upping the protein this week. Needs Improvement: My first goal is 125 lbs, by Christmas. If I work really hard, I could see that goal by December 1. I'm already knowing I'll have to adjust that goal though, because I'm still feeling really fat. I need to work on body image and recognize I'm not fat any more. I had hoped I would outgrow that problem, but it doesn't appear to be waning. tammy, luckiest, cricket, pg, smiles, valerieeee - I hope the scale has been kind to you this week. It's good to be amongst others who are pushing hard for these little successes every week, we're getting to our goals, ounce by ounce, meal by meal, run by run. Be strong everyone! |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 132.4 Progress this week: -1.2 pounds Hooray for me: Still working through the C25K program, almost finished with Week 3, nope - I still do not love it though! On my running days I follow the 30 minute program with an additional 30 minutes of walking. The off days I go to the gym. Needs Improvement: Did not do great on protein intake this week. I was a lazy chef, I preferred eating easy stuff over cooking good stuff. I'm really really hoping to get down safely into the 120s before (American) Thanksgiving, because that's probably the only way I can be in a good position to meet my Christmas goal of 125. There are so many parties and happy hours during the Christmas season, so I can't expect to continue to lose a pound a week when I'm having regular non-counting days. Best of luck my friends, hope everyone is as lucky as cricketro and able to post a LOST number this week!! |

in addition to the exercise and diet - look into a good foundation (undergarment) that you can wear under the dress, you may find something that "smooths out" your midsection enough to allow the dress to zip. |

Thursday Check In: Curent Weight: 133.6 Progress this week: -2.0 pounds Hooray for me: I continued on with the C25K program, I have completed 2 of 3 runs in week 2, one more tomorrow. I can't say that I'm loving it, I can say that I'm determined to work really hard on the program. I run (and also walk) three days a week, go to the gym three other days a week, one day off. Needs Improvement: I really need to incorporate some weights into my routine, but I haven't done it yet. I even bought the New Rules book. Honestly, I'm so freaked out about gaining weight, I want to wait until I get down into the 120's then tackle this new thing. I'm picking up running right now, I don't want to add two new things either. I really want to get down to 125 by Christmas, with an eventual goal (probably) of 119 that I will decide on when I reach 125. Hope everyone else is having a good week. Keep the faith cricketro05, its tough to lose weight when you're already so low. |
